I recently had breakfast at Another Broken Egg Cafe in Streetsboro, and while the experience was…read morenot a disaster, it did feel like an expensive lesson in managing expectations. I was genuinely excited to find a place nearby serving eggs Benedict, since that is apparently now considered a rare regional specialty. The eggs Benedict itself was satisfying, and the decaf coffee was actually very good. It stayed hot, which was impressive because warmth was not exactly the theme of the rest of the experience. The custom mug was a nice touch, the silverware was clean, and my water glass was crystal clear, so points for clearing the very basic hurdles of public dining. That said, the details were where things started to drift. I asked whether I could get butter on the side for my English muffin and was told yes. When the food arrived, the butter had apparently chosen a different path in life. I selected the potatoes as my side, and they were dry and cold, which was a nice reminder that not all breakfast foods dream of being eaten. I also asked for cream with my decaf coffee and was given those little plastic peel-top cups of palm-oil creamer like the kind sitting beside a gas station coffee urn. It would have been helpful to know that beforehand, just so I could adjust my standards in advance. The service was probably the most disappointing part. My server never introduced herself, never said good morning, never welcomed me, and never asked how I was doing. The exchange had all the warmth and personality of renewing a vehicle registration. The first words out of her mouth were asking what I wanted to drink. Then whether I was ready to order. Then whether I was ready for the bill. Then she answered my question about whether I paid there or at the front. Finally, after the check, I did get a "have a good day," which was nice in the same way a closing credit is technically part of the movie. As an added bit of breakfast theater, I was seated near the kitchen entrance, while the table across the aisle featured what I mentally dubbed the Desperate Housewives of Streetsboro, carrying on a lively discussion about construction, a new kitchen, and the hand towels they were all apparently having to use in the meantime. It was less background ambience and more accidental community theater. For $21.87 for eggs Benedict, potatoes, and a decaf coffee, I expected a breakfast experience and not an exercise in emotional self-service. There were good elements here, but the missing butter, cold potatoes, fake creamer, and indifferent service made the whole thing feel more like a nicely plated inconvenience than a place I would be eager to revisit.

This was the first menu that truly excited me to try. This spot raises the bar for ohio food. The southern/ Cajun flair in the menu made my heart flutter. The Cajun shrimp and crawdad omelet was amazing but the bacon and gouda grits stole the show. I could eat my body weight in that dish. My only complaint for food is, I would have loved a louisiana hot sauce or some vinegar based hot sauce to go with it. Not gonna lie, our server definitely forgot about us, a few times but.... the food made up for it.

First visit to C's Waffles on Fathers Day. Wasn't sure if I wanted to order breakfast or lunch but…read morethey have a Texan Burger on the menu that caught my eye. I haven't been attracted to burgers in a while but this one sounded good...maybe it was more the name. I ordered the small one with a side of waffle fries. The burger itself has white and yellow American Cheese, onion rings and bacon. I added pickles, mayo and Bbq sauce. The patty is thick but doesn't seem like they season it at all. The bun is super fresh and the smaller burger was a good choice. The waffle fries are probably the best I've ever had, fresh out of the fryer, cooked right and properly seasoned without being overly salty. Most people would probably really enjoy the burger but because I felt like it was lacking flavor, next time I'll order something else. My husband ordered a BLT with hash browns as a side and he really enjoyed both of them. Service is friendly and as attentive as we wanted it to be. Being a Sunday late morning and also Father's Day, we waited probably 25-30 min to be seated. Waiting it outside on the covered porch...we checked in and they gave us a pager so we sat in the car u til our seating time was called. Next time, I'm ordering breakfast and I'm looking forward to that.

The sign is of what you are not permitted to do when you're in the restaurant. They must have a big problem with guests taking the initiative. I would think for the most part, guests are respectful. The sign with all the rules was a little over the top, furthermore, this is the first restaurant I believe I've seen with this type of sign. Noticed on the lower right hand corner of the menu states "Splitting or Sharing an entree will be a $3.00 upcharge. The food was subpar for the price, as too, the service. I ordered the pancakes and they were a little dry. The service was ok, however, not great. Our order was taken fairly quick and we didn't wait very long to be served, however, after we received our order, our server never came to check on us. I would have enjoyed a coffee refill, but she never came back with more coffee. I get they were busy but our server could have at least taken a moment to check on our table. Unfortunately, the experience is one where I would not return.

I also asked for a lemon wedge, not a slice, since you can't squeeze a slice. Next came our espresso martinis, one for each of us. We actually felt the bang for our buck -- strong, well-balanced, and worth every penny. For our appetizer, we shared the gluten-free BBT meatballs. It was delightful. Then our Cobb salads arrived, each with shrimp added. We requested a side of extra-virgin olive oil -- not a blend -- and the kitchen got it right. For dessert, we shared the cheesecake, minus the graham cracker crust because my friend is gluten-free. I would have preferred the kitchen plate it for sharing and provide dessert silverware with it, instead of us having to flag someone down. I'm also industrial seed oil free, and Hailey was attentive to both of our dietary needs throughout. The manager, Chris Nichols, stopped by to check in and ensure we were satisfied -- a clear sign the restaurant is customer centric. I actually thought Chris was the GM. Kudos to the general manager, Ben Lano, for inspiring great teamwork. Lastly, I give the ambience four stars, simply because we don't have a Michelin-starred restaurant in Ohio.

For dinner I ordered the catch of the day which was a seafood linguine and it was good little spice which elevated the dish to new heights. I also had the spinach dip very flavorful. My husband had the meatballs and for entree the prime rib sandwich which he said was delicious. Overall the ambiance was very pleasant and the staff were very welcoming. I can't wait to dine here again.

We had to ask for regular, and I know that's not a huge deal but not everyone wants a flavored creamer so why not have a couple to choose from already out? Our waitress whom was nice, asked if we were ready to order or needed more time after bringing the coffee to us and we weren't ready so she said she'd be back and to take our time. At least 15-20 minutes later she returned, she had forgotten about us. I should mention there was enough staff out front and it wasn't busy. Ok, fine. I ordered there social breakfast and my husband made his own omelet. Not much to choose from. He initially wanted cheese, sausage, onion and green peppers. They don't have green peppers but have jalapeños. He asked what they do have and she mentioned mushrooms and cucumbers. He passed on any other veggie. We got our breakfast within reasonable time. My scrambled eggs, home fried and bacon were quite dry. My husbands omelet was without cheese and our waitress finally came over to ask how things were and left quickly so my husband couldn't say anything. This one is on my list of, "never to return" unfortunately.
