I would give a zero if there is an option for me. This company is going down in service. Two hours late drop off time for PODS. No call no show for picking up our PODS is unacceptable. Customer service team in Florida seemed to pick up the phone and asked if they can help with anything, but obviously they are NOT trained to help in term of knowledge, problem solving skills, communication manner and hospitality. Totally Dissatisfied with your company! I have been dealing with your company for a little over 1 month now and to say the least I has been the worst part of my total gut rehab of my home in Tucson. From the start of first billing and delivery - wrong size of Pod, overbilling and double billing, locked out of system, a nightmare trying to add another month due to contractor's delayed, after adding another month your company came that day to pick it up with my belonging in it, and so so much more! The billing dept for PODS is a total debacle. BEWARE! We were overcharged and have tried repeatedly to get someone to fix it, to no avail. This was the WORST experience I have EVER had with ANY Company: 1) The machine that unloaded the POD was "Huge", much larger than the POD itself. It had four strange pivoting dual tires that extended several feet beyond the sides of the POD. As a result the dual tires tore up the lawn, tore off the the sprinkler heads in the lawn, scraped up and marked the driveway, damaged the curb alongside the driveway and smeared heavy black grease all over the plants alongside the driveway which resulted in us having to cut the leaves off of the plants. The machine was about 20 ft high when backing clear of the POD so we had to cut back a tree to get the machine clear. Other container companies have some simple fork-lift machine to place their containers. 2) The "Customer Service" is the WORST! After you place the order they tell you how THEY will do things and on what schedule with NO consideration of your needs or concerns. And heaven forbid is you need to make a change: There was change in the construction schedule that required the POD to be moved and they said that it was just tough luck as they would not alter the original schedule or if they did change the schedule it would just add several days to the pickup. When I said this would work I was told that this was the way it was going to be an that there was no one else to talk to and the Agent hung up on me. We have previously used Rat-Pack with NONE of this nonsense but our Company recently got a "Business Account" with PODs. What a mistake! read more

I would have given 4 Stars until the final delivery happened. During the time of renting and storing at the Longwood Facility was great, each time we needed access, the facility did a great job of bringing it out and staging it; no damage to any of my items. BUT WAIT FOR IT .... now it's time to finalize your rental and have it delivered; delivery to your residence is set Thursday delivery window 3:15-5:15 ... BOOM, at 4:00 the Manager calls and says they can't make it, so I already took half day off from work Thursday "lost time". So he says we can be there Friday morning between 6-7:00 am and I said "well I need this POD picked up Monday" and he said "to help us out he will pick it up for you on Saturday". NO NEED to call Customer Service, he says "we will handle it." So my Husband and I killed ourselves all day Friday and Saturday morning. I called the Manager (his personal cell); left 4 voice mails, texted .... No response; even spoke to the Driver twice; which was not help. Why offer a pick-up service if you never had any intentions of picking up the POD? So I got screwed for a Monday pickup and was told I had to wait until Thursday to be picked up .... NOPE I raised hell w/ Customer Service and the District Manager, POD removed Monday night at 7pm. Johnny Thank you for that. Now The Billing Dept., we pay for a month in advance and you get to keep our money when we return it within that billing cycle, so you get 16 days of my money! PODS will charge additional fees they do not inform you about over the phone at the time of booking! If you don't mind being taken advantage of, use PODS. If unanticipated charges concern you, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! My total delivery fee was supposed to be $973.49. They charged my cc for that fee 1/4/19. Out of nowhere, on 1/11/19 they charged my cc again for an additional amount of $335.58. When I called to inquire, I was told the extra charge was added for mileage. That was never mentioned when I confirmed the total for delivery of my belongings. Be aware PODS will charge you hundreds more than what they mention during your order, and there is nothing you can do about it. Trust me on this one! read more

This has to be the nightmare move form hell. We moved from Hacienda Heights, CA to Palm Desert, CA. My son had used Units but I decided to use PODS. Big mistake. They are totally incompetent and stupid idiots. They are in the wrong business. Believe me. Lesson learned, "listen to your children". I ordered my POD on the phone and they said you're moving from Hacienda Heights to Palm Desert. No problem it is only about 100 miles. A two hour drive. They delivered the POD, we filled it, called the number for pick up and received their confirmation call that some one would be there tomorrow between 10:00 and 1:00 PM. Perfect. Wrong. At 1:45 nothing. Crickets. I called the local rep who I originally talked to and he said some times they can be late but he would check. Hold on. He comes back and says your order was cancelled by the warehouse manager because it was too far to drive. What??? You took the order, I packed my stuff, it's in your box and sitting in my driveway. Why didn't someone call me? Man, I closed escrow and am on my last day to vacate. He said he was sorry but there is nothing we can do because the Warehouse Manager is in charge. I call the national number. They say no, your driver is still on his way. You account has a green light which means we are still coming. I tell the guy what the local rep told me. Hold on. He comes back sorry but it was cancelled. Yes by the Warehouse Manager. No he didn't tell anyone. No Palm Desert is not too fare. Yes it is just a 2 hour drive for a big truck. SoI say what the ---- am I supposed to do. Everything is packed in your box. I was supposed to be out of the house today. I can't stay here because there is literally nothing in the house. Hold on. Back again. Here's what we will do. Tomorrow we will pick up (you don't have to be there) your box and take it to Chino Hills, then on Friday we will pick up the box in Chino Hills and take it to Riverside and on Saturday we will drop off your box in Palm Desert. Complete stupidity. They should be sent on a suicide mission in the Middle East. No kidding. Well, praise the lord they delivered the box on Saturday, 4 days late. We emptied it and called them the next day for pick up. They said we can't get anyone there for 21 days to pick it up. I thought "of course you can't" that would be efficient and you could have one less box in inventory instead of two. But you wouldn't want to do that. Nooooooooo. I swear it is run by complete fools. They picked up the POD three days late from our house in Charlotte NC, then delivered it two days late after we arrived in San Diego. It was due to be delivered in San Diego on November 17th and ended up being delivered on November 19th. We tried to get compensated for the extra two days we spent in a hotel while waiting for the POD, but no one got back to me. One customer service person that l spoke to heard my British accent, then spent 20-minutes telling me about her favorite British TV shows. Then she hung up on me and never called back. When the POD finally arrived, it looked as if it had been spun around and turned upside down. We had a slew of damaged furniture and half our belongings were covered in a white substance which had clearly come down from the ceiling of the POD. So far, we've spent over $1300 rebuying damaged furniture. We had previously used PODS in the past and had no issues at all, but this time it was a disaster from start to finish. I was promised a manager would call me - that never happened, and I was allocated a person who would supposedly look into any compensation...I never heard from her either, despite my emails and phone calls to her. I would never recommend PODS to anyone. Everything about them reeked of unprofessionalism and the fact that I was consistently put on hold showed how much they care about their customers. They are a hot mess. Addendum: I heard from a person in the Social Media division of PODS and he said a member of the "Senior Customer Resolution Team" would be reaching out to me. This was in December. I contacted him again on January 14th and said this: "Hello M***** - While we continue to await the response from the diligent research done by the PODS team (it's been five weeks without a word, but I'm sure they're working hard at it), I just wanted to point out a couple of other pieces of damage. We've protected our IKEA office table for years, but considering all the damage done to our other major belongings from the PODS journey, I guess we can count ourselves lucky with just these scratch marks, annoying as they are. The cracked glass at the top of the print is terrible. We've had this print for eleven years and it cost a small fortune to have framed (the print is 40" x 28") and it's been in fine fettle all this time. Leave it to PODS to add this print to the rest of the damage, which now stands at a cost of $1,600 that we've spent to rebuy our damaged / destroyed belongings. The good news is that I've already dissuaded at least one person from using PODS. A physician colleague of mine just moved (also from Charlotte) to San Francisco. He had to move a five-bedroom house. He decided against using PODS after hearing our story. So, a small victory". I sent photos with this email. My advice...avoid PODS at all costs. They just leave your pod hanging out and cannot even tell you where your belongings are and do not care if they are subject to heat and elements. First of all, they put the pod in facing away from the condo building. I was also billed twice in one month, and it took them 4 months to refund my money. I called several times about the billing issue, and each time I was told some one would call me back. I email the gentlemen over-seeing my account about the billing issue, and it took him 5 weeks to respond to my email. I received a quote on how much it would cost to have the pod moved to the new locations and was given a confirmation number. When I call to schedule the move using the confirmation number two days later, I was told that price was no longer any good, even though they told me quotes are good for seven days. The customer service reps rarely know what's going on when you call them. It was overall convenient to move my things and store them in the short time I had to move, and because I didn't have a home yet to put my things right away, it all worked out, but this company can do a better job in every area. read more

Long story. Spent over 3k storing our household/personal stuff. Now, today, POD is auctioning all our stuff. I went through severe illness and brain trauma last year. I still suffer from cognitive issues which caused me to often misunderstand what was being told to me by this company. By the time I started to recover mentally, POD told me it was too late to do anything. All our family photos, wedding dress, our kid's stuff...all gone because of POD not caring about people. I have begged them to please help and be understanding due to my health problems and just nothing. No compassion whatsoever. Now what are we going to do? Their quotes are not consistent. Call one day and it can be several $100 different. Asked why and they say it depends. They also sneak in insurance on the first payment that's not on the original quote. When asked if they can deliver to a different city, this initiated another quote and increased the monthly costs. When asked why, told that the other city had to assist in the moving of the pod. So the pod will be stored in the same city for 3 years but now I have to pay $88 more a month so the POD company in the other city can help move the pod in 3 years. Wow. PODS is horrible. Like many others in Los Angeles who stored their belongings in the Compton storage facility, when I opened up the POD, it was filled with mouse feces and urine. Our rug worth $1000 was completely ruined and had to be disposed. Our treadmill worth $2000 was severely damaged. Clothing and personal belongings were filled of excrement and had to be either thrown away and washed. We spent days cleaning our belongings. The mice GNAWED their way through the plastic. I filed a claim with Pods the next day and was told the claims department would call me back and resolve it within 3 days. After not hearing from them, I called back and told it was assigned to Heather and she would call me back. I called her 5 times and just got her voicemail. After 3 weeks, Heather did call me back and refused to take responsibility for the claim. Heather said the contract that I signed had a clause that exempts rodent infestation that was on my account on the pods website. When I told her that I paid the Pods fee to have my belongings returned in the same condition I left them, she again said that she won't pay anything. I looked on the website and the contract was not there. I called Heather back and left a message for her to show me where the contract is and she didn't call me back. The email she gave me did not work. The bottom line is I paid over $6700 for having my belongings safely stored by Pods and they did not do their end of the agreement in keeping my belongings safe due to the rodent infestation at their Compton facility. If you want your belongings to come back in the same condition you left them, don't use PODS! read more

After closing 3 months later I called to get directions to pod and they said was still in NM. I had saved voicemail of confirmation that pod had been shipped. TL;DR - PODS doesn't just have bad customer service, they have none and make it almost impossible for you to talk to a person once you've already given them your deposit. I called to confirm my delivery appointment that was first thing in the a.m. the next day. They confirmed so I made sure my movers would be there in the morning. My movers were at my house from 8 am until it FINALLY showed up at 5 (no exaggeration on times). All day I was trying to get through their automated phone system that makes it impossible to speak to a real person (unless you are a "new" customer!) THREE TIMES I was hung up on when I finally reached a person, the FOURTH time she told me she was calling the local manager to find out where my POD was, and she never called me back (after making her promise to call me back because it was obvious they were avoiding me). My PODs driver was super nice but transparent when he informed me that he had only gotten the call that afternoon to go pick up my container from a location much further away from me. His takeaway was that they forgot about my POD, and probably the only reason it actually arrived was because I was calling so much. Not great when you're moving across the country and had planned to leave that afternoon. That obviously didn't happen. When you talk to your driver and customer service and they agree that PODs messed up my order, and even though I had to pay for movers to sit at my house for 6 hours longer than necessary (and had to pay them) because PODs confirmed it would be there in the morning... this was an absolutely awful experience and I will never use them again. read more

We had a move from Boston to SF and the POD customer service provided us with horrible service. First, they provided us with wrong information on the price and then they continued changing the price with out providing any information. The did not provide us with any invoice and charge the credit card multiple times, and each time we called the customer service they came up with a new number. They never provided us with a list of costs and charged us extra $1650. We still did not receive our stuff, and there is no clarification on why they charged us. The worst customer service ever. They are only nice if you are calling to place an order. If you are an existing customer the wait is 3 times longer than if you are looking to get a quote. The wait time to get a quote is under 1 minute. The wait to speak to a customer representative is 30 minutes and longer. I had a delivery window of 8am-12pm and by 2:30 pm I got worried because it was not there. I called and the guy told it was on the schedule and to call back after 6pm if it didn't show. It didn't show. I called after 6pm and then there was nothing they could do about it because the service center from where the pods are dispatched closes at 4pm. I had to make a special request to get it the next day and it was still not guaranteed. Never again. I do not recommend at all. There are better and less expensive alternatives like Zippy Shell with honest representatives. read more

They promised a Friday drop off between 3:30pm-6:30pm. At 6:25pm they called to say they would not arrive until the following Tuesday at the earliest. After being put on hold three times over 45 minutes, the customer service supervisor offered a $60 discount. When I objected to the small amount and they would not even guarantee a delivery the following Tuesday, they disconnected me. I was upset but did not curse or demean the agents. They clearly over schedule and are not reliable. Rent a local truck, hire movers but what ever you do, avoid renting a Pod unless you want to waste time, money and be left frustrated. I had been searching for a mover for nearly a month -- referencing Yelp, asking friends, using other web search engines, and came down to a handful of companies I was seriously considering and getting quotes from. Pods was initially on that list given a high recommendation from a friend, but my initial quote was nearly 2-3X higher than quotes from other companies -- over $5,500 for about 350 cubic feet. I respectfully declined given that the benefit of a Pod (storage, exclusive space, the ability to pack and unpack at your leisure) was not as relevant to me. I received a follow-up call where I reiterated that I was no longer interested because their services were out of my budget and I was able to secure a much more reasonable price from a friend in the moving industry. The sales guy started laughing and said, "wow, someone's going to move you across the county for less than $2,000 --ya right -- nice friend" and then he hung up on me! I've tolerated the dozens of follow-up phone calls with prospective movers (and they are an aggressive crew), but no one was as rude as this person. This company was by far the most expensive, yet simply because of their lack of professionalism , I would opt to spend my money elsewhere. read more

I was extremely unsatisfied with my overall service with this company. In regard to the delivery, pick up and safety of my property, I was satisfied. What I was extremely disappointed with was: 1. undisclosed charges that would be applied 2. Incompetent service reps that set up service (the lady who set up my service never scheduled a pick up date and I told her numerous times I needed same day pick up). 3. Unprofessional, rude, derogatory service reps at their call centers. 4. Lack of ability to get ahold of decision makers. 5. Being told lies ( that I would receive a call back and never did, that I could not speak with branch managers, that there was no one that I could speak with to address my concerns above the branch manager, etc.) As a business professional myself, it is beyond me how poor the training for call center/service employees has to be to receive such terrible service (all but ONE person I spoke with was either rude, trying to place blame on me and not the company, or refusing to let me speak with someone of authority). The company charged me for services that were never disclosed. Once I addressed the issue, I received a 50% refund. While a decent gesture, I simply don't believe anyone should have to pay for anything they were not informed about or unknowingly agreed to. Had I known of the charge, I would have happily paid it or made other arrangements. My issue was never 100% about the money, rather the principle of the matter. Logistically and functionally the service was fine; however, I would never give business to a company who operates with these principles, business ethics and lack of professionalism. By far, the worst customer servicer experience I have ever had. I reserved my POD a month prior to my move date. The PODS customer service representative that signed me up assured me that the POD would on the street between 7am and 9am. I scheduled my movers accordingly. Two days before my move date I received a call from another PODS representative notifying me that my card was declined. The representative that signed me up incorrectly coded my credit card. Because I already had a PODS representative on the phone, I took the time to confirm my drop-off and pick-up times. The representative told me that they could not guarantee that the POD would be dropped off before 9am without charging me an extra $50. Because my movers and city permit were already in place, I paid the $50. The night before my move I received an automated call notifying me that my POD would arrive between 2pm and 5pm. I immediately called PODS but they were closed for the evening. At 7am the next morning, I called PODS and spoke with a supervisor. She was very apologetic and told me that the agent that charged me the $50 had incorrectly coded the drop-off and pick-up times. She refunded my $50 and assured me that my POD would be dropped off before 10:30 am. I called my movers and pushed back their start time to 10:30 am. The movers arrived at precisely 10:30 am but there was no POD. I called and spoke with several representatives that put me on hold to contact the manager of the local branch. They all came back with different reasons why my POD had not been dropped-off. At 11:30 am, my movers proposed moving my furniture downstairs to the lawn. I agreed because they were being paid by the hour and needed to stay productive. I continued to call PODS and they continued to give me the run around. One agent finally gave me the direct line to the branch manager. When I called him he seemed surprised and asked me how I got his number. He told me that his driver had a setback and was severely late. He also noted that I was next on their delivery list. At 12:15 pm I called PODS again and spoke with a supervisor. She told me that I should have reserved my POD at least one week in advance and that delivery times can't be guaranteed. I shared with her that I reserved my POD a month in advance and that I paid $50 dollars to have my POD dropped-off by 9 am. She again reiterated that I should have reserved my POD at least one week in advance and that delivery times cannot be guaranteed. She filled out an incident report and told me that a manger would follow up with me. To date, a manager has not followed up with me. At 12:35 pm my POD arrived. The driver apologized and told me that it was PODS mistake. He noted that he had been given a 2pm - 5 pm delivery time and that he had to rearrange his route to get get me the POD. I asked him if his route had been delayed that morning. He denied any knowledge of a setback or his route being delayed. The way the company is structured makes it difficult to find someone knowledgeable and impossible to find out who is culpable for mistakes. All calls are directed to a call center in Clearwater, Florida. The representatives there contact the local branch managers who then dispatch drivers. I didn't look up Yelp reviews before reserving my POD. I hope that you do and that you make a more sensible decision than I did. Hire anyone else. read more

I used PODS for a cross-country move from Cincinnati to LA and had nothing but extremely poor customer service and misinformed phone representatives. 1. I asked them to leave the storage unit on either side of my two-car driveway keeping the garage accessible. They parked it diagonally in the middle blocking my garage. 2. I called 10 days prior to the desired delivery date. I was told that I would be charged $40 for the delivery. I was asked to call back in a few days once they confirmed the laws regarding street parking my container with the LA office. 3. I called to confirm the laws were verified three days before my move. I was told I would be charged an additional $140, pro-rated for half a month, because I would be three days past my grace period. I pointed out that I wasn't told that last week. 4. The representative called back and stated that due to my move being long distance and not local, he made a mistake, and I was only one day over my grace period but could not receive the pro-rated offer and had to pay the full month's rent, $280, for the one extra day. 5. I spoke with a supervisor. I told him that I was given three different prices. He said that there was nothing he could do except schedule same day pick up and delivery to avoid the one day overage. I asked if he could give me a time window so I could make sure I would have enough time between pick up an delivery. He said he couldn't guarantee any time window, and could either take the chance or I would have to pay the $280 to guarantee enough time to unload the container. 6. I called to determine the size of the space I needed to reserve on the street. I blocked off an additional 4 feet just to make sure. When the driver arrived, he said I that amount of space thang I was told to leave was not adequate, and my container was parked further away. read more

It seems I'm not the first person to write that I should've read the reviews first. The POD we received was not weather proofed and the majority of our furniture and clothing was contaminated with mold. Should've run away when they bait and switched me on the price prior to using them. They quote you a bunch of numbers, it's very confusing. In the end, they charged me $200 more than they quoted me. They insist on receiving final payment prior to delivery because (based on other reviews I've read and my own experience) they destroy your goods. Don't trust them. Whatever they quote you, add 50% and two weeks. Get everything in writing. Ask about the area served by the district you're working with. Personally, I'd say save the cash and rent a moving truck, or pay what this will end up costing anyway and get a real moving service. DO NOT TRUST THEM. I can't give them zero stars and that is the real tragedy. This is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. They didn't have a problem taking my money and putting my family in financial distress though. I ordered their service and when I scheduled to get my pod delivered, they said that they could not service my new area. The associate who took my order put in the wrong zip code and I have been paying $300 a month beside of this error. I am also going to have to pay another company to unload and deliver my items to my correct address. This will cost thousands. I sincerely hope you do not use this company. If you end up in my shoes you will find out just how difficult it is. Oh yeah, btw good luck talking to someone local. They are all overseas in a call center. There are no local numbers provided. This is a company that will suck the blood out of you, absolutely no empathy/sympathy or any type of consideration for the client, I signed up for two pods on December 2020 because my landlord sold the condo that I was living at, I needed additional time to be able to negotiate the terms of the purchase of my new house and pods took advantage of the entire situation, I won't get into details cause it's not worth it, make sure you read small print/contracts before you sign because they Show no humanity , empathy nor sympathy, I've paid thousands of dollars to this company and my nightmare is not over yet. They will tell you anything on the sales call, and most will be true but when it comes down to facts it gets really blurry. I was told on my phone call multiple times. Just call us when you are ready, it is the slow season. 2 to 3 days before pickup is needed should be fine." Ok I said, they delivered the POD as stated, I packed it and called them back within a week. Giving them an 8 days out to pick it up. "Response was O our first available pickup day is 14 days out" 14 days are you kidding me, you said 2 to 3 should be fine. "Sorry nothing we can do." I ask to speak to a manager, manager not even get on the phone. Said there is nothing we can do sorry. I actually will not even own the property on the stated first pick up date. "Sorry nothing we can do. Do you want the 14 day out pick up date or not?" I mean I will not own the property, so you want me to leave the pod, all my belongings, move 2000 miles, and not even own the property? This is crazy, it takes max 1 hour for someone to pick it up and at least take it back to the local facility so it is not on the property (that I no longer own), you can't tell me this can't be worked out. There are 3 POD facilities within the metro area of Minneapolis and no one can come get it for 14 days? Crazy talk.
