PODS accepted our move, then said They Couldn't Deliver to our Destination. We contracted with PODS to move from Maryland to New York and store our belongings in the interim. Our contract identified our destination as the Queensbury/Glens Falls, NY area. We have been paying storage fees since February. Two and a half weeks ago, we provided the address of our new home in Queensbury and requested delivery. We were then informed that PODS had moved our three containers to a facility that does not serve our destination and that we could drive an hour to pick up our belongings ourselves. Since then, we have repeatedly asked PODS for its plan to deliver our containers to the destination specified in our contract. Instead, we have been passed from supervisor to supervisor without a resolution or a delivery plan. After paying storage for 2 containers since 2014 I am informed that the name on my account now doesn't match my payment information and I have no access to my Pods. Furthermore they have offered no solution to this situation even though I have provided them with information that proves they are mine!!! The one star is the only star I can give this company for their epic failures to make arrangements for 1 truck (they scheduled 3) to be delivered on the 24th (they scheduled the 31st but swore they spoke to dispatch and promised the 24th 3x). They told us to call at 9 pm to confirm tomorrows drop off time, at 9 pm we were told there was no drop off tomorrow - then there was drop off tomorrow but they wouldn't be able to pick up on the 31st as agreed, it would be the 7th. What kind of Tom foolery is this nonsense? Top it off with an angry and aggressive agent at 9 pm sending quotes for new pods when we are simply asking for the entire $4200 job to be canceled. Only then did I find the series of other 1 star reviews - ALL only 1 star reviews - I'm so glad this thing never arrived and that I didn't have to deal with them more than I already have. PODS delivered the container on the day promised, but never rang the bell or knocked on the door (we were home, but did not hear them) and they dropped the container in a spot clearly convenient for them, but not for us (at the end of the driveway by the road), but my main complaint is that when they came to pick it up (didn't let us know they were coming, otherwise we would have been there), they dragged the unit across my lawn and left deep troughs from the skids - this just happens to be a spot that has taken four years to get grass growing and this summer it finally looked good - now I'll have to fix it. The PODS organization near Saratoga Springs, NY employs incompetent and unprofessional drivers. I moved from Haverhill, MA. The drivers in that area always called ahead to give me an approximate arrival time. The Saratoga Springs based driver called to tell me he was parked in front of my house. Unprofessional - yes but only a minor inconvenience since I was expecting delivery AT SOME POINT that day. I went out to meet the driver and move my vehicle from the driveway. The driver proceeded to back into my driveway to position the POD. In the process, he backed over my mailbox completely destroying it. He phoned is supervisor for guidance and handed his phone to me. The supervisor told me I would be reimbursed for the destruction. One month later and three phone calls to PODS "Customer Service" with more empty promises, I am still without my custom mailbox. (I cobbled together a temporary mailbox for my mailman.) This organization is unprofessional and unwilling to accept responsibility for their driver's incompetence. Driver knocked over my lamppost 6 months ago when picking up the POD. Gave me a note apologizing and advised I reach out to his supervisor. After 6 months the closest I have gotten was an offer for LESS THAN the quote supplied by an electrician, and even that inferior amount was only offered if we signed an NDA preventing us from telling anyone that it happened and requiring my wife to remove any social media mentions. The "Customer Advocacy Specialist" is a joke, and only there for the benefit of the company. The title is laughable, almost Orwellian. Doublespeak at its finest. Anyway, six months removed from the incident and my lamppost is still laying on the ground. I rent, so I am the one that is ultimately on the hook here, so I am in the process of completing all the forms required to file a small claims case. The service was good the entire way through, then in the act of taking the POD away at the very end of the move, they hit my pole and knock it down. Even that wouldn't have inspired me to write a negative review. However, when a company takes six months to fix something THEY ADMITTED TO is beyond my comprehension. I wonder how many cases like this they deal with on a yearly basis. I suspect more than one, and this strategy is planned. Make it such a hassle that the consumer eventually gives up out of exhaustion and repairs it themselves. I refuse to let this go in that way. Beware of PODs. They aren't the only moving company out there. They definitely aren't the cheapest either. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere to meet your moving needs. Edit: As a response I will add an edit. You have been in contact. After 6 months you FINALLY agreed to repair it, and my reply now is that I be compensated a fair hourly rate for having to pursue the repairs. Most companies would have replaced this immediately in more of a "my bad, please let me handle that for you. We will have a contractor out there ASAP" manner. Instead I invested at least a full cumulative workweek into getting to this point. And now I am just supposed to shrug it off like I haven't spent the past 6 months stressing over this? Phone calls, emails, seeking advise, researching my options, etc. My rebuttal to your "Customer Advocacy Specialist" is for the repairs and compensation for my time. His reply was a clear "no." If I hire the attorney I spoke to this morning, it will probably be more. He seems to think he will be able to recoup compensation for the repair, my time, his time and legal fees. I have a pretty solid case with documentation. It isn't like we have to prove anything. You have admitted to the damage. We were eye witnesses. The only thing to prove is that you pushed me around for 6 months trying to avoid fixing something you broke, and I have all the correspondence. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! I wish I'd read these reviews first. If I could give zero stars, I would. I will absolutely NEVER work with PODS again. I was due to receive my POD today (6/4). When I called to get my estimated time for delivery, there wasn't one. I was told they would call me back (this was at 8am). At 12pm I called back and was told that someone would be back in touch. At 3pm I received a message saying "Sorry, your POD won't be delivered today, you've the rescheduled for the 16th!!!! The 16th?!! I have to be out of my apartment on the 15th, which is why I scheduled my new POD for the 4th. I called to try to get help in fixing the situation and was basically told there was nothing they could do. So instead I wasted 30 minutes of my time on the phone canceling my order (which would have also been a 12 month contract and a cross country move). Their customer service is non-existent, and no one cared that they left me in a lurch. I guess they don't care about making money. I've never been so angry or disappointed in a service. I will tell everyone I know to avoid PODS at all costs (and I'm in charge of relocation for a major organization). UPDATE 6/6: As you can see, I was asked to reach out to PODS so someone could contact me and try to help. I immediately reached out the email provided and have received no response. In the meantime, I was able to rebook with another company who has much better reviews, has my date available, and is actually more cost effective for the 12 month contract. Biggest regret of our move. 1. Overcharged 2. Inconsistent with what the national customer service promised 3. NO LOCAL SUPPORT at all. Each time we needed to speak with someone locally it took HOURS to reach someone. Including a time we had a defective PODS that was delivered to us and we only found out it was defective after we loaded it. If I could give them zero stars I would. I did send a letter (you know, envelopes and stamps) to the corporate company. I got back exactly what I anticipated, a phone call from a customer service rep who offered to "validate" my feelings. My response to the call was "if you are only calling to validate my feelings, we can end here." That ended their response to my letter. They delivered the pod on time, but changed the "moving" time once without asking, making it two weeks before the next scheduled move, meaning that our belongings were stuck behind us for that time. Then on the "new" day, they did not show up or give me a reason why. The people on the phone were very nice, but they said that it was up to the local branch to fulfill it, etc. So now I'm still waiting for my belongings, and my son has surgery tomorrow so we won't be around if it shows up. To make it worse, we have a dumpster coming to the original address tomorrow as well for a cleanup, and now I don't know where they will find a place for it. This is ridiculous. They destroyed my lawn when delivering the POD. When I submitted pictures and video for a claim; they suggested someone dug up my lawn with a shovel. I'll nver use PODS again and don't recommend them. You are warned to get insurance but it only covers the actual POD. Let me be upfront and clear: I would give them 0-1 stars if it wasn't for the manager John. We were given a specific window for drop-off (by corporate, not local) after having made a 3,000+ mile move from the west coast to Albany, NY and paid good money to arrange for movers to help us unpack the following morning. Fast forward 10 hours after the Pod's scheduled drop-off window: we had tried contacting corporate multiple times to get an ETA, with no luck until finally someone was able to contact the site directly to inquire what was happening. John, the manager, had apparently assumed all drop-off deliveries that day without any notice as the local drivers failed to show up to work. At the end of day, a very tired, warm, apologetic and kind man showed up with our Pod, doing the best he could under the circumstances to make sure our delivery happened same day. This was an impressive feat and level of going above and beyond during what appeared to be a very stressful and trying day. Thank you John, you are so greatly appreciated. And to the POD company: I believe you have some quality control issues you need to attend to. read more

I would not recommend this service with PODS. Their "pick up" (after you pack) window times are not guaranteed on your scheduled day, and if you try to change a pick up time like in my case ( and the PODS driver who I spoke too told me oh it's no problem just call the Customer Service line), you can re-schedule, but then the Corporate will tell you the new pick up date is 8 days later, even though I am less than 8 miles from their local facility??? Who can have a cube outside and completely filled up for 8 days?????? The fact that I have to be across the country by the time they pick up is nonsense, yet PODS cannot find anyone to pick up????. I called their 800 number several times today (several times I was told this manager or that manager was contacted and there were several cancellations so this shouldn't be a problem), but I never received a call back or email about my situation, and after several tries I was told that PODS was working on this with the local facility, however when I last spoke to PODS, " The manager left for the day.." That alone speaks volumes about customer service if your shoveling out almost 3 thousand dollars. I think your better off with UPACK or PACK RAT, their reviews both on Yelp and Google are much more positive (even the negative ones too) when it comes to customer service, quality, delivery and value. After 20 years in the customer service field, I this attitude takes the cake of feeling neglected. And just wait until you call their 800 number for little to no help, they give you the response that you would get from a state trooper pulling you over and giving you a ticket. I don't know where to begin with this company. I wish they had a NO Stars option. From day 1 when I put my initial order in for a 12 ft. POD everything got messed up. I started my quote on line but had some issues so decided to call and have them complete the order. I gave them my quote# which clearly states 1 12 ft. POD. In that call I even scheduled my pickup POD date to the new location, easy peasy, right? Nope. They delivered the POD at 9am on 9/9, ok that's great, but then I went into my bank account I noticed they charged me $75 more than what was quoted, I called them right away. I was told that the reason for the difference was due to them delivering a 16 ft. POD instead of the 12 ft. POD. I told them that this was NOT my fault and if they could switch it out, well it was too late in the day for them to switch and the earliest they could switch it would be Monday 9/12 because they don't deliver over the weekend. I said I cannot wait till Monday that they would be taken 3 packing days away from me. I argued with them until they turned it over to some other Dept that assigned me a tracking number. My case will be reviewed within 7 to 10 business days. OK well that was the 1st issue. Second issue came when no one showed to move the POD to our new location on 9/15. On 9/14 I called them to let them know they never sent me a email confirmation or a call regarding our 9/15 pickup time. I was told the schedule hadn't been completed yet. I told them DON'T forget me and he assured me they won't. Through the night I never received confirmation that they were coming on the 15th. The 15th I called them at 9AM and what am I told, yep we have NO pickup scheduled for your POD. I had it! I wanted to talk to a manager and they wouldn't let me. Although the Customer Service Rep I got was nice and advised me due to the issues I've been having that they would NOT charge me for this pick up. I thought that was nice of them until Monday when I checked my account and saw a charge of $187 for the pick up and RUSH Delivery Charge. I was livid and called them again. I was told that the $100 rush charge was refunded to my account. I said yes I see that on 9/16 but then why did you take $187 out on the 19th. I should have NOT been charged at all. I was told they are reviewing my case. So now I have to wait 7 to 10 days to see if I get my $187 refund. I will NOT recommend PODS to anyone. We thought it was going to be great for the convenience but it has been nothing but a pain in the A**. read more

Customer service is very poor. Had a container delivered to my home facing the opposite direction from what I specified, with the doorway up against a tree which made the container inaccessible. They would not admit fault and charged me $69.03 to re-position the container and are refusing to refund my money. This company has a monopoly on the portable storage industry which may be why they are so stubborn. There are a few small companies who provide a similar service and I will definitely use them from now on. Stay away from PODS! read more

We recently used PODS while we were selling our old home and purchasing a new one, which was a super stressful situation! PODS was fantastic from the get go. It was easy to find pricing estimates online, which are also competitive with other similar companies; you're not just paying for the reputable name here! Every customer service rep I spoke with was awesome; they were professional, helpful AND friendly! Especially, when we were getting ready to have our POD delivered, I was concerned about our sellers backing out etc etc and the rep completely relieved my stress about it and said we could cancel delivery up until late evening the night before it was to be picked up! The drivers are very knowledgeable, always called when they were on their way and were helpful with packing tips and placement. Overall, very reliable and easy to use with excellent customer service!
