Having been in San Antonio for a couple of days, we believed that there is no real coffee scene but poetic Republic Coffee changed our opinion. This charming and welcoming coffee shop offers the most delicious drip coffee and variety of drinks as well as delicious muffins and pastries. An exciting update: over the 2024 holidays, Poetic Republic installed a new oven for heating food that warms each item thoroughly and quickly! It's perfect, and works so fast, they had the (very tasty) Breakfast Sandwich (my fave) to me before even the cappuccino (another fave!) was ready. I used to have to wait as much as 15 minutes for a food item to get thoroughly warmed, and now the espresso and food arrive at nearly the same time! Happy New Year, Poetic Republic! read more

Came here to do some work. It's hard to find a cute coffee shop on the southside but this is closer to downtown so I guess it was a compromise. The location itself is along Presa and parking can be an issue but I came when it wasn't too packed so I found a spot up front. Hope you know how to parallel park The space is a vibe itself. There's plenty of tables to sit and don't worry, if you're trying to get work done there is plenty of outlets!! If you'd like a quiet space, this ain't the place for you. Their music is a bit loud IMO but just bring your AirPods and you'll be good. Unless you have a meeting, this ain't the place for you. My first time here! Definitely gives you all the cute, earthy, chill vibes! It's SO cute inside! It was actually busy when I got there, most of the tables were full with people chitchatting which I actually enjoy seeing! I got the iced lavender iced coffee, I recommend but it's not for the weak because it's a bit strong lol! The baked goods are a must, they have a Nutella swirl bread and ughhhhhh you have to pair it with your coffee. Don't forget to toast it I'm coming more often for sure! This is a cute little coffee shop that serves great coffee and would be a great spot to do work. I got the Pumpkin It Up, which is a PSL that isn't too sweet and instead highlights the great coffee that they serve. The baristas are super friendly and welcoming, and not only take your order but also make the drinks. The interior is decorated cozily and was accented with Halloween decor, which really made the place even cozier. There is a parking lot across from the street from the coffee shop if you can't find street parking in front. I'll definitely be back for more coffee soon! read more

Nothing stands out but I can also appreciate sticking to basics and pumping out solid coffee instead of what's popular and overly sweet. Unlike a lot of coffee spots, especially non-chains, this place is small and set-up like what I'd consider to be a "traditional" coffee house versus a study center or hangout spot. With that said, tables are small and you won't be able to have (2) laptops open if visiting with someone. Also, the area fills up fast. Wi-Fi is super fast and makes for a spot to take a break in the middle of the day, knock out a couple emails and be on your way. read more

The absolute BEST strawberry matcha in all of San Antonio. The matcha is extremely smooth and tastes amazing. However, if you're not a fan of sweeter matcha it probably won't be your favorite but it's the best in my opinion. Really calm and relaxing environment and the staff is extremely friendly and sociable. It's my top 3 coffee shops in all San Antonio. The only downside is the parking, but it has nothing to do with Poetic itself. I really really recommend Poetic if you're looking for a new coffee spot! This was a very clean, spacious, and well utilized space. Not only is this place a coffee shop, it's a bookstore, and record store all in one. They have nothing but good vibes with a clean aesthetic. They have a large seating area and wifi to get all your work needs done. The coffee is made well. The coffee and atmosphere is good. Cashiers and servers are nice and patient. My gripe is the hidden fees. For example, they have a drink called the Scout. Espresso, milk, chocolate, coconut, plus (your choice of milk.) But guess what, when you choose your choices mini, they charge an extra .75... so now they are more expensive than Starbucks. Why say plus your choice of milk and then not disclosure the extra cost. I don't appreciate businesses that add costs that should be included. For this reason, I won't be back. I have referred people to this business but will no longer get do so. Plus if a person is lactose intolerant, they are being charged extra for having that disability if you think about it. Lactose free alternatives are not that expensive for them to charge almost a dollar for. Especially when the sign gives the impression that it's included. read more

I needed good Latte for my day, and I'm glad that I came here. I enjoyed my Latte, and also the friendly service. The ambiance was nice and cozy. Even though I was alone, I felt comfortable staying by myself. They have special donuts on only Saturdays, and I was lucky to come here on that specific day. Unfortunately I was too full to eat them, but I couldn't just ignore them. I got three to-go donuts; blueberry, churro chocolate, and lime margarita. I'm excited to try them tomorrow as my breakfast. This place is equal parts warm/inviting and incredible coffee. We tried several items including their Brown Sugar Latte (espresso, cinnamon & brown sugar) and Gingerbread Latte. The baristas were friendly and knowledgeable, and answered our most basic questions about lattes with grace and no judgement. My husband and I love this cafe so much! The place is very cozy and intimate. I don't really recommend going with a group of more than 4. This is more for studying, date night, get lost in books, or enjoying time to yourself. The staff is great when it comes to service! They always play comforting music and give amazing recommendations if you're ever feeling unsure on what to order. Also your order comes out at a decent time. You never have to wait long. My cousins and I came here on a Saturday morning for a cousin coffee date. They have a really nice open seating area where we were all able to sit together. There was 8 of us ladies. They had different hot coffees and teas as well as non coffee drinks for my one cousin. We also enjoyed their pastries and snack and meal options. The service was also really nice. You order at the counter and they'll call your name to claim your order at the counter. We weren't aware that we had to listen for our names but they kindly brought our orders to our table.
