I was on a field trip to Confluence Park with a Master Naturalist training class recently. We like to go someplace nearby afterwards for a social. This time, Tandem was the venue of choice. I really liked the place. It was very laid back and comfortable with a bit of a dive bar atmosphere. The seating included sofa areas, small table, and larger tables. It was not brightly lit, and the music was nice. We went to the counter to place our orders. They had sandwiches already made in an icebox. When ordered, the guy put them in a waffle iron before serving. I had the Cubano, and let me tell you- it was the best one I have ever had. It was so crispy and delicious. My only comment is that it could have used a bit more mustard. I also had an iced Americano with Como La Flor syrup. That was a blend of lavender and blueberry and was house-made. It sounded awesome and delivered awesomeness in every sip. I will definitely be back. I have to try the waffle pressed peanut butter and jelly! read more

Excited to find this local spot! Was going to walk on the riverwalk but the rain/thunderstorm started. I googled "coffee shop" and Tandem was the closest to headed over. It's a fun place even from the outside! They have coffee, beer, and wine. The barista was friendly and answered our questions. I did a nitro brew with their homemade Mexican vanilla syrup. I do not like sweet coffee and told the barista that. She said they do 1.5 oz of syrup. Which is a lot for my liking. I asked her to put .5 an oz only and it was perfect! They have events here too. Have been coming to Tandem since its inception. I wish I was egocentric enough to believe that's enough 5 star validation. From the beginning Tandem has focused at being a member of the community and is utilized for everything from comedy nights to district meetings, rummage sales to trivia nights. Being on the edge of South Town you get all vibes without the higher prices for beer, coffee, soda and snacks. Ample space inside, along with a massive patio and "backyard". I had a morning meeting held at Tandem San Antonio. I've been to a number of local coffee shops long on charm and good vibes but tight on space. This place has charm and space both indoors and outdoors with covered patio. Friendly staff which goes a long way with me. I don't have coffee often but when "in Rome" I like to have a cup of coffee. I enjoyed the coffee itself today. The atmosphere? Where can you go to get a good cup of coffee, beer or wine all in the same place? You can do that here. I noticed they have a calendar of events on the wall. Open mike comedy night? They have it. A monthly meetup for a group bicycle ride? Yep. Those are just two of the entertainment offerings though they also feature art for sale by a local artist. As an avid cyclist, I appreciate being able to have a covered patio to have something to drink while recharging to continue my ride. They also have a wonderful vantage point to look at a scenic view of a nearby bridge. They have equipment for practicing disk golf too. Cool place with a great vibe! Perfect for a stop on your bike tour of the missions. My friends and I always hit tandem when we get the group together. It is just a short distance from the riverwalk, and cater to coffee and beer drinkers alike. The coffee is solid, and a respectable beer collection. They have a cool inside sitting area that is like someone's living room, and they have a large area outside as well, complete with games to keep you busy. The drink was okay the service and environment were not. This feels like an Antifa soboy breeding ground. Abortion pamphlets, sexual content written all over the restrooms, and lgbtq references everywhere. Coffee is served in a budlight glass. There are barely any plugs to connect your device to. Wifi is slow. I get "welcoming" but when your servers can't take a simple order down and look miserable behind the counter just how welcoming are you. I cannot recommend this place. It's hard to find a good meeting place on the southside. Sometimes you want coffee and sometimes you want something to eat. Tandem has just the right options for a business meeting either indoors or outside. It is spacious with generously sized tables that fit my laptop and food. You can have a conversation without other people listening. The food is delicious. I was missing some eggs in their breakfast but the empanada and sausage with cheese sammy were absolutely delicious. The coffee is so good too. I've been to fancy coffee places where the coffee tastes like sludge but people swear it's good. Tandem's coffee hit the spot. I get the Americano with soy. I went to Tandem Coffee to meet some friends. This colorful establishment is on the south side of San Antonio. It took me a minute to enter the building as I was too occupied with the beautiful painting on the exterior. Upon entering I was more wowed by the floors which were painted as water, and the many selections of art in the walls. I finally made my way to the counter to order and was disappointed by their lack of gluten-free options (a salad). So I ordered a salad and an iced vanilla latte with almond milk. I was notified a few minutes later that the salad would not be available so I was left to enjoy my latte. My iced latte was too sweet for me so I only drank a small amount of it. My friends and I mistakenly sat near the speakers which made it difficult for us to communicate. Tandem is probably not a place to go and study or read, but the chess table, shuffleboard and outdoor patio makes a great place for meet-ups, family fun or happy hours. Another Pub ride down on the Mission trail. Little sketchy crossing the bridge on Roosevelt. Wish they would make a bigger bike lane. Walked in on a Sunday afternoon and they had coffee, beers and food with a wide open area inside. The patio is big too that overlooks the river. Enjoyed a couple of beers as we listened to smooth music inside. People were enjoying the day and chatting with one another. Also a note is Rosey's Fish and Chips food truck is here on Friday nights. Happy happy happy!! In addition to just destination coffee,, Tandem is right on the Mission Reach of the Greenway, near Confluence Park. Convenient stop-off from a bike ride or hound walk for a beer (they have 12ish really nice taps, and a selection of cans too). Huge dog-friendly yard with giant beer pong set up. Across the street from an art school - awesome works for sale on Tandem's walls. Great periodic events listed on their socials. A half-mile from South BBQ - picking up to-go lunch at South and a coffee at Tandem is my favourite Sunday brunch! read more

this is a really cute place I've visited a couple of times before, and enjoyed their coffee quite a bit! much is to be desired for their food, though. I ate here for the first time and wasn't really impressed, especially when I compare what I go to the photo on the website. for $14 I'm pretty disappointed, as I'd expect much more and can get much more from other places. I felt like I was eating school cafeteria food. other than this, I thought the coffee was great and always have! I highly recommend the coffee. everyone that works here is super sweet and great and I can't fault them for the food much, especially because it doesn't seem like they have a fully functional kitchen (my heart dropped when I saw the girl cooking with an air fryer). just doesn't seem worth the price. still, though, if you want a great cup of coffee or a latte, this is a great spot to get that, especially if you need a chill place to sit, sip, and study. just be weary of the food! read more

So glad to have a place like this on the South side. The baristas are knowledgeable, and make a great cup of coffee! Their signature coffee drinks are delicious and potent. Try the "Jefa", it's stellar! The service is great, very clean and you feel safe as cdc protocols are followed closely. Their beer selection is impressive. Met up with my best friend here. Barista was so helpful in answering our question about the golden latte (which is delicious by the way and cute!). There was so much too look at, quirky things, beautiful art, stickers and paintings everywhere. I love the ufo theme throughout. We decided to sit outside and enjoy the sun and weather, after awhile we went to go sit on one of the many couches and continued to enjoy the atmosphere. I love this place. Their coffee is the best on this side of town. I love how they have seasonal flavors on their coffee. I have worked here quite a few times. I like the setup and feel of the place. The ONLY THING I hate is that the lids on their coffee cup suck. It usually cracks therefore when I drink out of it I tend to usually always spill coffee on me due to the lid. This will not stop me from coming but please fix the lids. read more
