This place is a great casual (read less expensive) addition to the Del mar dining scene. I ordered a chilu burger and the smashburger style patty had a nice caramelized crust with a pickle relish underneath, a smear of chili and American cheese. The crinkle cut fries were not fresh cut but we all love those anyway. There is a patio with six tables but I recommend getting it in a togo box and walk down to the pier and wTch the surfers. Their sauces were very good. And I'm not a big fan of lettuce and tomatoes on a burger (because I think it often is so much that it overtakes the burger) but I forgot to order it without and it was actually perfect! The chicken on the sandwich was large, tender, and the perfect texture. The burger was similar to in'n'out. But the fries were phenomenal. I keep hearing really good things about this restaurant so I decided to try it for lunch today. If you haven't been here before it's on Del Mar tucked back a little bit but right next to Pronto Italian market. It's a very casual, simple restaurant with a walk up window that you order at and then sit at tables outside. I was craving a burger today, so I just went with the cheeseburger combo, which was very satisfying for me! They have what they call "break sauce" for you to add to your burger. I couldn't quite figure out the flavors, but it was really good on my hamburger. It comes on the side so you can put it as much or as little as you would like. Also, they do crispy fries, which I found delightful! Not only do they have burgers, but they have chicken sandwiches. This is only for the shave ice. You get a 1 scoop of shaved ice, topped with some mango and some cornflakes. Including a 15% tip this cost $8.57! You're paying almost 9 dollars for a small scoop of ice and a couple ounces of mango. This is nothing like Hawaiian ice. There is no flavored syrup. They do not pack the ice down like they do in Hawaii. You have to mix the juice of the mangoes so you're not just eating plain ice. The servers were nice. read more

I can 100% say that is not true. It was very lack luster. Under seasoned and very dry. I kept dousing it in ranch or ketchup but nothing helped. The truffle cheese fries have a truffle essence but barely. I also was expecting more of a cheese truffle sauce but instead it's more like shreds of some cheddar cheese. The onion rings were horrible. They were fried so much they basically crumbled in your mouth while also cold inside. Which doesn't make sense. My dad's review of his lettuce wrap burger was that it was good but the lettuce overpowered the burger. The regular fries were good. I wish they had a vegetarian patty burger option because if they had I would have tried that as a truffle burger. read more

When finally received, we ate it there but the burgers were lukewarm and not hot. Seriously? Double cheeseburger, crinkle cut fries and drink $12.50. Very limited seating. Been wanting to try this new smashburger spot, but unfortunately the service was a complete let down. Placed our order for 5 burgers and fries, and were waiting, and waiting, and waiting. We noticed people that ordered after us already got their food. What we did receive, was a crispy chicken sandwich but it was all breading that had barely any chicken and was overly deep fried. The breading was so hard you couldn't chew through it. On our way back from San Diego, we decided to stop in at the new Point Break Burger spot in San Clemente. It's a little tucked away but it's a little hidden gem. The really affordable prices will keep me coming back. We ordered the hot dog which came perfectly cooked and topped with relish, ketchup and mustard. Exactly how I like my hot dogs. This was delicious. The fries were very crispy. Next time I'll try the truffle fries. We also ordered the classic double cheese and the truffle burger. The truffle burger was sooo good and would definitely order this again. As a big fan of mushrooms, this made the burger hit the spot in every way. Lastly we ordered the chicken sandwich. It was perfectly seasoned and was a huge piece of chicken. The flavor was delicious but the bun did sort of fall apart trying to hold that big piece of chicken. I would still order again. If you're in the area or on your way to the beach, I would recommend stopping by and getting some orders to go. I discovered Point Break in downtown last weekend. My family normally goes to In-and-Out for burgers so I was excited to see this new place for burgers because I want to support a local business. I brought my family there this evening and it turned out that was a mistake. We ordered a #2 combo, a double cheeseburger, and a fried chicken sandwich. The ordering seemed normal. The place was not busy when I placed my orders. There was only a young lady in front of me and she got her order in less than ten minutes after her ordering. However, there were about eight customers who came after me. As I was waiting for my orders to come out, I noticed many of the customers who came after me started to receiveing their orders. First, I thought my fried chicken sandwich was delaying my order since the restaurant probably has to fry the chicken from scratch but then half an hour had passed by and I still haven't received my orders. I approached one of my employees about my orders but she had no explanation for the delay. All she said was that my orders are coming out soon. However, I didn't get my orders for another 20 minutes. I also noticed that there were two ladies who had received their orders (I believe they ordered cheeseburgers) only waited about 5 minutes for their orders I waited a total of 50 minutes for my orders. The employees gave me no explanation and no apology. The delay and bad service are unexcusable. I wanted to support a local business but I was very disappointed by the bad service. read more

The food took forever for the food to come out. Then there was a hair on my burger which violated one of the health codes creating a physical hazard. The food was decent except my burger was salty and they don't allow refills on drinks. The only up side is the way the cook their fry's which is the they are cooked in Tallow which is better then canola. Also the employee where very sluggish and not so great customer service.
