They have a small lot which generally will be full and most streets near the restaurant do not allow parking. We were able to find a parking spot several blocks away. Large dining room, seat yourself and order yourself at a window and they bring the food. Some good vegetarian options. Good tuna tacos, and really excellent coleslaw they make themselves! It's a nice place with a nice beachy vibe, if that's what you're looking for. While there seems to be plenty of seating when you take into account the deck, the inside, and the beach, the same cannot be said for parking. It's a good setup where you grab a table, place your order at the counter and someone brings the food to you (usually pretty quickly). The food itself is good with the portions pretty reasonable, but the prices are a little high. Yes it's seafood so you may expect to pay a bit of a premium, but for some items the markup is a little more extreme. We usually try to come once a summer and have yet to be disappointed! read more

Needs improvement!! The Clam Bar continues to be one of our favorite spots on the water. The food is consistently fresh, delicious, and worth the trip every time. The seafood is top-notch, portions are generous, and despite how busy it gets, the service is incredibly efficient. Considering there isn't traditional table service, the staff does a great job keeping things moving. That said, as a boater, there are some growing challenges that I think management should address as the restaurant's popularity continues to increase. The biggest issue is dock space. Jet skis often occupy spots that could accommodate larger boats carrying multiple diners, and there doesn't seem to be much oversight or organization around docking. In addition, many people remain tied up long after they've finished eating, treating the dock more like a marina than a restaurant stop. A reasonable time limit during peak hours, along with dock attendants to help direct traffic and maximize available space, would make a huge difference. We've already had to turn around and leave several times this season because there was nowhere to dock--not because there weren't customers leaving, but because the existing spaces weren't being used efficiently. From a business perspective, this is also lost revenue. Every boat that has to leave because it can't find a place to dock is a table of customers that the restaurant isn't serving. Many boats bring groups of four, six, or even more people. With demand clearly there, a better docking system would not only improve the customer experience but also allow The Clam Bar to serve more guests and capture revenue that is currently being lost. We absolutely love The Clam Bar and will continue to visit whenever we can. The food keeps us coming back. But as boaters, we'd love to see a more organized docking system that matches the quality and popularity of the restaurant itself. read more

It's been about five years since my last review. They expanded the indoor restaurant and while we were sitting at a table for four on the pier, a duo sang several familiar songs in harmony to an acoustic electric guitar (albeit their own versions). Our dish, the Greek Salad with grilled shrimp, was better than what we ordered last time. The other couple had the Lobster Roll with salad and coleslaw, which they thought was very good, but one remarked they've had better when the roll had more lobster without filler like red pepper. If you don't mind lousy parking, trying to catch a good table without reservations, standing in line to order your entrée, walking back to your table carrying the drinks, stopping near the bar to grab napkins and plastic cutlery, and finally dumping your garbage into a pail, this place is for you. That said, the food was very good and the outdoor table on a nice day with a view of a wetland bay and live music was very nice. We went here three years ago for an impromptu birthday celebration, they had outdoor seating great drinks, delicious fried clams and lobster rolls! Very relaxing atmosphere! The view was amazing at sunset! Jump ahead three years and this place is a destination for families, singles or date night! They have live music on some nights, I went on a Saturday and it was busy , they have two parking lots both were filled! ( short wait time) I couldn't believe how much they have grown over the years ! I usually go in the summer but they are open all year long ! Plenty of tables outside too. Find a table , Line up in the back to order your food, they will give u a device to put on your table for the waiter to bring your order! Order your alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks at the bar. We recently dined outside at the Point Lookout Clam Bar, and if you take anything away from this review, it's that I highly recommend a sunset dinner date! Once we figured out the chaotic ordering system (you do have to wait on a long line to order your food while someone saves a table), it was smooth sailing from there...pun intended, perhaps? (And thankfully, once the food was ordered, it did not take long before a runner came to our table with our goodies.) I think for a casual dockside restaurant like this one, it's best to go with the *tried and true* casual seafood faves! We had the New England clam chowder, fried clam strips, fries, and a fried shrimp and fish platter that came with coleslaw and tartar sauce! (This all 'hit the spot' and definitely tasted like summer.) And of course, the outdoor ambiance only enhanced this dining experience; we got a table right on the actual dock that overlooks the small inlet beach and boasts the most beautiful sunset views. (And yes, I did put my feet in the water as well, lolol.) This spot is what Long Island summers are all about and perfect for those who always look for any excuse to be by the water. My first time I had the cheeseburger w/ fries the baked clams and a crab cake. Delicious the second time I had just the cheeseburger because it was so good my first time. I had been here once before and really like it. If ypu go with a group of people, as I did, it is great since there is no table service. You place your order at the counter, pay for it there, [there are two prices, one for cash, the other, which is higher if paying with a credit card] the menu is solidly seafood but the do offer a hamburger/cheeseburger. It is a pretty extensive selection, soups, salads, a kids menu, tacos, fried favs, sides, fish from the grill and even pasta. They have a sushi bar and as you go further into the restaurant, they have and area where you can purchase bottled wines and pre-prepared sushi. It is right on the water and it is set up so when the whether is nice, the garage door type windows can be opened to let the cool breeze wash in. It is open year round 7 days until 11:30p. The night we went there was a live band playing hits from the 70's-80's which was great. I ordered the tuna tacos which were delicious and the coleslaw they make is very tasty. There are even indoor and outdoor bars and a gift shop. The Clam Bar does not disappoint. It is well worth a visit, especially with a group. read more

Fun place for families. You can sit by the water and eat and drink while the kids play. They have chairs to sit in and you can order food from the beach area. We ended up going inside to eat lunch. You go up to order food and they give you an electronic device to you when your food is ready. It was ready within 10 minutes. I was hoping for oysters but they didn't have any. There's a lot of fried food on the menu. I ordered grilled tuna tacos. They were generous portions for the price. They were ok. Kinda bland with little of some sort of sauce on it. Would have loved some more seasoning if any on the tuna. The French fries were good. The staff is friendly. The restaurant is huge and clean. There is a gift shop at the entrance of the restaurant. For the restaurant, its somewhat self serve... you go up and order your food, take a buzzer, and the food is brought to you. There was an issue with a downed system and a long line so it took some time to get back up and running. Cash is key as its slightly cheaper than card use. The staff seemed friendly enough too. For the food, the coconut shrimp were good as well as the onion rings. Their shrimp po boy and fries were a decent portion and flavor. My biggest issue was their raw clams. We ordered a dozen raw clams being this is a clam bar and they werent remotely cold and tasted off. I ended up getting really sick later on. Even their condiments (tartare sauce and cocktail sauce) were warm and congealed as they were stored in non refrigerated metal bins near the self serve water area. I'm not entirely sure I would return as there may be other (safer and affordable) options nearby. read more

First off, the place has a wonderful view and atmosphere. You can eat indoors or outdoors on the docks or the beach itself. It is casual and the bar area was very welcoming. Next, the food--- I asked for a lobster roll with just butter, no mayo. Seemed to be a big problem, but they said they could do it. When it arrived at the table, it was very skimpy and very little butter, mostly the big roll. The french fries were good as was the small cup of coleslaw that came with it. My husband ordered a chicken burger and he said it was good, We also ordered the lobster bisque for ($12) which they forgot to give us. When I inquired about it the girl at the counter apologized and turned around to a large pot behind her and scooped out a cup of soup. When I sat to eat it, I was horrified. It was like a broth with absolutely no lobster in it. There is more lobster and a much better flavor from supermarket purchased Panera lobster soup. I visited this restaurant on a Monday afternoon so it wasn't crowded but the place is run by kids and a cook that doesn't know how to make a buttered lobster roll. Really cozy establishment! The food wasn't that memorable to me. The chicken tacos I had were very cold and hard I couldn't really eat it. The fried fish on the other hand was hot and edible. I came here for my birthday because I really wanted a lobster roll and this place tonight as point. I will say that it is a little bit confusing because the buoy bar is connected with a ton of other outdoor seating options so it's a little bit weird when you first enter. The place is a serve yourself so you go to the register order your food grab a number and then they bring your food out to you but you have to get everything else yourself. I got a lobster roll and it was very tasty. Lots of lobster and it came with a side of fries. Obviously, this place is right on the water so it's a super nice view. I was looking forward to coming here after the beach. I ordered a lobster roll, baked clams & corn on the cob. I was so upset that the roll of the lobster roll came out SO STALE that I waited for a manager or someone to come up to our table to ask us if everything was okay because it wasn't. It was so hard that my tooth would've actually broke. I really waited so long for someone to say how are you doing? How was dinner? Because I couldn't believe the lobster roll's roll. It was inedible. You wouldn't even give it to a dog. Truly, if you're reading this you should be ashamed for serving that to somebody. The only time I had service was when someone offered to take my food away from me when all I needed was a napkin (which wasn't on the table). The baked clams were a 5/10. The clam itself was chewy (it's a clam bar) but the stuffing was okay. The corn on the cob was completely bare (just boiled) & they offered a bowl of butter on the side to douse it in. The bar was pretty looking however on their cocktail menu it contained a margarita & white/red sangria & a coconut martini. I wish they had more of a variety of decent cocktails to serve. I'm still not over the fact the chef let out a roll that would have literally broke my tooth it was so hard. For $38 at that. They should be embarrassed. I hate to bring down a place but it was absolutely disgusting & unacceptable. Nobody even came up to us. It was almost as a local state park. At that! read more

This is what I would expect at a dive bar, not at this type of location and at this price point. limp fries, Luke warm mushy cod and mediocre fish tacos.
