I came to Dave's Hot Chicken during the Drake's Bday promotion when you get a free single slider via the app. We got there around 6:30 pm and there was a line out the door, which was as expected. And while I will say the spice level was perfect, it really lacked additional flavor. The fries were decent, and the sauce was definitely something that I could do without. I would say that my spice level is pretty good and I can tolerate a good amount of spice. The food was still fairly hot when I got home and the smell of the spices smelled promising in the car. The fries were good but the chicken sandwich was not spicy at all. I was really let down because I wanted it to be spicy and even any remote flavor. The sandwich had some kind of sauce on it and pickles and I would say that the pickles were the best part of it. I wish that if the sandwiches were that much and spice level the second most hottest, that it would be pretty good. They provided extra of the sauce that comes on the sandwich but I think that it didn't help make it taste any better. I was having a conversation with a friend and she brought this place up and was surprised I had never tried it. 15 minutes later we were on our way to Dave's hot chicken! I like some spice but my friend recommended I get the mild since she found the medium to be unbearable. I regret listening to her because although the mild did have great flavor it did not have the kick that I wanted from "hot chicken". I ordered the slider and tender combo and WOW the chicken was perfectly crispy. The sauce was super flavorful as well and I loved the thick cut pickles that came on the side. The fries had some sort of old bay seasoning (my favorite) and were also perfectly crisp! Personally, one slider is plenty of food for me. These are not "sliders" they are full on sandwiches haha. I could not finish all of my food unfortunately but everything was very very good. Special shout out to the staff working the Friday lunch rush (2/9). I always appreciate a place that offers shakes but I have yet to try them here. Food (3/5): I've had their hot chicken sandwich and their fries and mac and cheese. Good and bad here. The mac and cheese underwhelms so I'd avoid that. Th fries on the other hand are legit. They're crispy and seasoned well. And now, the star of the show: the hot chicken sandwich. Like most places, you choose your hotness level. Unlike all hot chicken joints, here you'll get their special chilled Dave's Sauce (similar to Cane's sauce) and honey. I've been a regular at this location for quite a while. I used to order at least once a week and was always impressed with the consistency and flavor. I hadn't ordered in about a month, but decided to give it another try today because I was craving it. Unfortunately, this experience was really disappointing. I placed a pickup order through the app (I live nearby), and while I understand pickup food can sometimes lose a bit of freshness, this order was noticeably off. Everything was cold, soggy, and tasted old, as if it had been sitting for a while before being packed. The biggest issue was the lack of spice and flavor. I ordered my cauliflower sandwiches in medium and hot, but both were completely bland. The stickers on the containers said "no spice" and "medium," which might've been a labeling mix-up -- but neither sandwich had any heat or seasoning at all. The breading was undercooked, soggy, and falling apart, making it hard to even eat. As a vegan, I don't have many options around here, and this used to be one of my reliable go-tos. I tried the hot chicken and waffles for the first time today and my girlfriend tried the 4 mini sliders. As far as the chicken and waffles, they advertise 6 Dave's bites and 4 waffle sticks but when I opened my to-go container, I was given 4 Dave's bites. It's kind of frustrating that I was shorted food considering the entree itself is really small as it is. It was in a mini to-go container. Fries or a drink aren't included which is annoying because for $3 more, I could've gotten a 2 tender meal that includes fries and would have gotten bigger portions and fries. I can honestly say this place slacked in my expectations horribly. Everything was significantly underwhelming from the service, the price, and most importantly the food that was provided to me. Hot Chicken - oh yes you can always count me in, I love that every version of hot chicken across the country is different so it's my mission to try them all if the opportunity presents itself, although the genre is the same it's still about the choices and the presentation so even though I knew somewhat what to expect I still had to decide on the heat level. I decided on a slider, a tender with crinkle fries and a large chocolate shake - I also took advantage of the YELP checkin reward and got a large fountain drink on the house in anticipation of what's to come. If I have any negative comment it's the wait time after placing my order the wait started, although there were a number of "to go orders" coming out of the kitchen overall this place wasn't busy - I can appreciate everything is made to order but it seemed a little ridiculous. After nearly 20 minutes and after looking at the bottom of my shake my number finally came up.
