Huge portions! Poke Bowl Pelandale has quickly become one of my go-to spots in Modesto. They offer a large variety of proteins and toppings in their poke bowls as well as hot appetizers like gyoza, rangoons, egg rolls, and tempura. I typically order a Large Bowl with five toppings to split with my mom. We get the creamy shrimp, spicy scallops, octopus, and double salmon. The bowls are absolutely huge. I'd say the bowls are about three inches deep, and it's not just rice filling them! They are very generous with their toppings and don't shy away from loading them up with the seaweed salad and imitation crab too. They offer a bunch of sauces and mayo dressings that add a bunch of flavor. I also really enjoy their Kani Salad! It is a large portion that packs a lot of flavor. I always order ahead and the mean is finished before I arrive! I would say though that they are not the most consistent. Sometimes the octopus pieces are super hard and it grosses me out. One time they put ahi tuna in my bowl instead of the salmon. A few times they didn't include the sauce topping on my bowls. The interior of the restaurant is not the cleanest. There were some areas, especially around the drink fountain that look like the haven't been deep cleaned for a while. I've order (door dash) from here at least a handful of times for lunch and I really want to like this establishment because portions are generous and flavor is somewhat decent. Unfortunately on two different orders, I've found a piece of hair in my food. The last order has done it for me and this establishment. I understand that mistakes can happen, but this is a food safety concern that shouldn't be overlooked. Cleanliness and proper food handling are extremely important when serving customers. I've been to this chain of Poke restaurants in other cities so I have a little bit of a benchmark to rate this store with. Let me start off by saying the employees were friendly and helpful from the moment I walked into the restaurant. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. As a chain, they don't offer as many add in's i.e. cilantro, red onion, green onion etc. as other Poke restaurants do but that isn't horrible. The protein options were decent with the tuna looking fairly fresh. There was no slimy film on it when you look at it through the glass. The shrimp were decent sized and the yellowfin tuna had good flavor. It is the overall cleanliness of this location that took me aback. You know when you walk into a hotel that looked great in their Expedia listing but when you walk into the room you want to leave - immediately. That's what happened to me here. The tables were dirty, the floor was dirty, the walls had dust on them and there were cobwebs in the corner by the trash can. I decided to eat my bowl quickly, wash my hands and leave. read more

I'm amazed this place has overall positive reviews... I paid $17 expecting fresh, sushi-grade ahi, but the tuna in my poke bowl was incredibly disappointing. Instead of clean, tender cubes, the fish had tough sinewy parts and connective tissue. High-quality poke tuna usually comes from the leaner, softer sections of the fish, like the loin. That's the cut that gives poke its smooth, tender texture and clean flavor. Instead, this bowl had the leftover scraps from tougher areas with connective tissue. The flavor was overly fishy instead of mild and fresh. There were only a couple drops of spicy mayo, leaving the rice and fish bland and dry. As an ahi tuna lover, I was heartbroken from the first bite. This was not a good poke bowl, it was just a few scraps of fish tossed in with barely any sauce and was definitely not worth the price. I was supposed to get two scoops of protein but from the amount of bad quality fish I received, it seems like there was barely one scoop. I'm not one to complain or ask for refunds but I highly regret coming here and wasting my money. Definitely not the quality I'd expect at this price with overall positive reviews... No welcome, no pointing me in the right direction. .I'm like I need to see a menu, which is perpendicular to the door. Forgive me for not knowing every step and choice by heart. So I choose the 3 scoop and rice as my base. Then ask for salmon as my first choice to find out she has none. I should have just walked out. Especially since there was nothing cooling any of the proteins. So I choose 3 other proteins. They use the mini ice cream scoops here to minimize the amount of fish you get in assuming. Never had a poke bowl with so little fish. I finish my bowl off, pay the $15 and left. What a joke. $15 for a huge bowl of rice and barely any fish. I walked out, and threw it out and drove to Raising Cane's. I'm not going back here ever. I seriously cannot believe there was nothing cooling the fish either. I'm not willing to get sick. Not the fanciest poki spot, but it satisfied my hunger. I arrived around 3pm and it wasnt busy. I was immediately greeted and given choices to help my selection. I went with my usual, half brown rice half salad. Although the salad was a little sad looking as was an iceburg mix and not so fresh. I got the mayo shrimp and 2 scoops of salmon. I did realize that they offered scallops, which is pretty rare since a lot of places don't offer it. I ended up getting salmon, scallops, and spicy tuna with white rice, crab salad, cucumbers, green onion topped off with their house sauce. The scallops were pretty good, but the other proteins tasted off to me. The salmon wasn't fatty and the spicy tuna wasn't spicy and had a weird aftertaste.
