I've order (door dash) from here at least a handful of times for lunch and I really want to like this establishment because portions are generous and flavor is somewhat decent. Unfortunately on two different orders, I've found a piece of hair in my food. The last order has done it for me and this establishment. I understand that mistakes can happen, but this is a food safety concern that shouldn't be overlooked. Cleanliness and proper food handling are extremely important when serving customers. I hope management takes this seriously and reinforces hygiene standards with staff to prevent this from happening again.

It's probably been almost a year since I visited this place. I left a bad review because of the rude and disrespectful staff. Today, I decided to come back. I have cravings for poke. The 2 staff who were there were friendly. The greet their customers who are coming in and leaving. Huckleberry (sorry if I misspelled your name) is friendly, has excellent customer service. You can tell from her attitude that she cares about her customers. I told her about my unpleasant experience and thanked me for giving them another chance. Such a humble person! The food quality still satiates my cravings. Will definitely come back again.

    Great suggestions from my chef.

OMG!!! First time at Poke Biwl! I'm sooooo impressed. Let's start with first impressions. When I walked in I was greeted with a smile. The restaurant is small but clean and welcoming. I didn't know where to start.... If you have ever been to Subway, this is the Poke version. lol. You get to put on whatever you want. I was walked through where to start and given suggestions along the way. By the end of choices I was pleased with my choices. The most important part..... how does it taste? I was absolutely fabulous! I can't say enough about the freshness of the fish and vegetables. I chose salad as my base instead of rice. The salad with a nice mix of different types of lettuce. The correct level of spicyness. Although you can amp up the amount to your wants. Overall a great experience! I will definitely be coming back! Great stop that's fast and fresh. Perfect alternative to that fatty fast food stop!

I've been to this chain of Poke restaurants in other cities so I have a little bit of a benchmark to rate this store with. Let me start off by saying the employees were friendly and helpful from the moment I walked into the restaurant. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. As a chain, they don't offer as many add in's i.e. cilantro, red onion, green onion etc. as other Poke restaurants do but that isn't horrible. The protein options were decent with the tuna looking fairly fresh. There was no slimy film on it when you look at it through the glass. The shrimp were decent sized and the yellowfin tuna had good flavor. It is the overall cleanliness of this location that took me aback. You know when you walk into a hotel that looked great in their Expedia listing but when you walk into the room you want to leave - immediately. That's what happened to me here. The tables were dirty, the floor was dirty, the walls had dust on them and there were cobwebs in the corner by the trash can. I decided to eat my bowl quickly, wash my hands and leave.

My favorite poke bowl stop in the Central Valley. Service is so friendly and quick. It's a nice little shop, you can walk up and see everything you'd like to order. I love getting a medium bowl as their portion sizes are extremely generous. I love their shrimp and spicy tuna as well as tofu and creamy shrimp. I also like to load it up with spicy mayo and house sauce as well as all the toppings. I would definitely recommend giving them a try!

Took a detour and was looking for a quick bite for the kids. Ordered SPAM musubi which took over nine minutes! I ordered a poke bowl for my daughter which was ready almost right away. Both items were over-priced. I don't pan to go back here. Bonus: They have a selection of Hawaiian Sun nectars. *You can ring a bell to order if nobody is in the front.

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION- YOU WILL GET SICK! If I could…read moregive this place 0, I would. The reviews definitely don't reflect the actual service and food at this location. Starting off, my best friend and I were in Modesto for Barnes and Noble to get some books for my son. This location being right next to the bookstore was convenient so we went inside. The young girl who served us looked disgusted the moment my best friend said she'd never eaten there and wasn't sure how to order. She looked at her like she was stupid and just said what do you want and was not helpful whatsoever. She got the small poke bowl and I got a small donburi bowl. After what took over 5 minutes for her getting our two bowls from us, she walked away after I paid and I had to ask another worker for a lid to my bowl. Whatever, service sucked, maybe she was having a bad day? We sat down to eat (still hadn't gotten the chicken tempura and gyoza I had ordered for my son). Before my son's food even was ready I had bitten into a very bad piece of shrimp tempura that tasted as if the inside of the batter was covered in mold. I immediately spit it back out into a napkin and just sat there about to throw up. I sat there thinking this is probably just a mistake and maybe I imagined it. Then my son showed me his chicken that he said he didn't want to eat. It was old, rubbery, did not resemble chicken at all, and had black stuff around the chicken under the batter. I went to the worker who was at the counter and told her what we had received. She didn't seem surprised at all, but more surprised I wanted a refund for the two items that were spoiled. No manager onsite, apparently they usually aren't there. She called the manager who did not answer the phone but proceeded to text the worker. Asking exactly what happened several times and then proceeded to say the black on the chicken is seasoning before it's fried, which is not true because the come pre battered and it was just old. I had accepted no refund on the chicken for the ridiculous excuse, but I wanted a refund on the donburi bowl at the very least. The manager asked her to open my napkin and send a pic of the shrimp!!!! THAT IS SO NASTY! That young girl does not get paid enough to be doing all of that. That is revolting! I ended up opening it for her so she didn't have to so she could and a pic. Then the manager stopped responding to her by text. That's fine, Manager, that's fine. You should've just given me a refund for your nasty ass food that was not edible. Now you'll be receiving a visit from the county health department as they were called the moment I left your restaurant because of the food being kept at room temperature, your dirty facility, and the spoiled food you're serving to paying customer. This idiot sent me into my Karen era and I do not even care. Don't mess with people's food. Good luck.

Oddly the process bugged me, so many choices but out of so many things. This made the proportions off ultimately. Protein-heavy. Then both iced teas were out, just pouring clear water. Then Starry and the Raspberry were out, leaving me with Diet Pepsi which I never drink. "I guess I do now" Not sure what the complacency is on the part of the managers or owners. Why are there cobwebs in the dining room above the speaker to the left of the fish sign? Why does the fountain drink machine make a little moaning noise for a minute after you get your drink? I regret that I will never know these answers.

I was unimpressed by this one. As soon as you enter this store, you are met with a very unpleasant, almost rancid, smell. I couldn't quite place my finger on what the smell was, but it was definitely not something you want to smell when you enter a place that sells food. We checked out the produce and meat sections first. The fruits and vegetables seemed fresh. The meat section, however, was a bit concerning. All of the plastic bins where the large cuts of meat were stored were filled with meat juices. Although the refrigerated section was cold, I was still a little concerned about the sanitation. Unless you are truly buying in bulk for a restaurant or event setting, the prices are very comparable, if not more expensive, than other grocery stores like WinCo. The smaller bag of potatoes, for example, was significantly more expensive than the same size bag at Costco. The giant bag of potatoes though, was very cheap in comparison. They definitely have a great variety of items that your typical grocery won't carry though. A lot of the items are unique. The sheer amount of drink/cafe syrups was astounding. They have every single thing you may need for a restaurant from take-out containers to sauce and jelly packets.
