Been here a few times now with family and friends! Have yet to be disappointed with my food and experience with their staff. Dara was our server and made sure we were taken care of and happy with our food. Everything came out from the kitchen fresh and hot and tasted delicious! Nice spot to come for dinner or a little celebration!

Nice hibachi and sushi spot in a strip mall next to Trader Joe's. Could be a great place to bring a significant other on date. Came here on a Friday night around 630ish. The wait wasn't too bad, I think the only thing was that there were tables that were not being used until about 30 minutes into our wait, then they started seating people at those tables. Not sure what the deal was with that. Other than that everything else was good. Friendly staff and the food came out fresh and delicious. Even though I prefer to go to Hibachi places where they cook in front of you, the food was great none the less. That Yummy sauce goes well with the rice! All the sushi we ordered were awesome choices too. Will definitely come back here whenever I want some Hibachi.

Average food and poor service. My friends and I decided to try Okinawa Sushi on a Saturday evening, around 6pm. Despite the restaurant being relatively empty, it took quite a long time for us to be sat. When we got to our table, the first thing I noticed was how large the booths were. If you are coming with a large party, you will likely be able to fit at one booth - this definitely makes this place feel more intimate. Despite the menu being very large, I must say, I appreciate that the there are photos of all the sushi rolls. The photos are definitely not the clearest but they help visualize what you are ordering. The menu definitely has a lot going on. There is sushi, hibachi, and all the side orders and bowls that you can imagine. Our table ordered the Crab Rangoons, Fantastic, Alaska, and Lion King Rolls. The rangoons were unfortunately deceiving. They are large, but have hardly any filling. They were almost entirely fried wrapper with quite literally a drop of filling. As for the rolls, they were alright. The texture of rolls was almost mushy. On some of rolls, there was so sauce that it was all you could taste and made the rolls soggy. The flavors were pretty good, but the portions were tiny. I felt the rolls were comparable to glorified grocery store sushi. When the rolls were brought to our table, my friends and I had to hold back our laughs when we saw the tray. There was a little whale figurine that spewed out steam. This novelty was cute but felt a little tacky. The service was somehow worse than the food. Our table ordered three waters for our party of three yet only two came. Our server said she would bring it to us later. Little did we know, this "later" would be at the conclusion of our meal. The one time she came by our table, she asked us if everything was okay. Before we were even able to provide an answer, she just assumed we would say 'yes' and walked away, making no eye contact with us. She literally walked away so quickly we couldn't tell her we were still missing a water. It felt like she was just avoiding any interaction with us. At the end of our meal, it took a long time for the bill to be brought to us. I don't see myself coming back in the future.

I wanted to check out a new sushi spot, so I did a little digging and was drawn to this place. I instantly fell in love with the modern Asian twist of the interior. It feels fun and looks upscale. The sushi rolls were delicious and it is always nice to have a variety. It was the coolest when the rolls came out and there was a mini whale figure that had smoke flowing out. Now to the reason for the three stars is mostly due to the service. I felt that every question asked by the waitress was rhetorical because by the time I could respond she had already assumed the answer and moved on. I was in a party of three and we were told we would get a third water, but that was not received until we were finishing up. Sadly, the crab rangoons did not contain much filling. I will definetely be revisiting, but just a heads up on the disappointing appetizer and service.

I have been here twice so far, once for a birthday celebration (before they got their liquor license) and once for date Night. The presentation of their sushi is always incredible. We had made reservations for our large group and we were all seated near the back in a large table. For date Night we were there and waited about 15 minutes for a table. The hostesses and wait staff are always very friendly and attentive. The food is great quality and good pricing. The Mango Tango roll is my favorite, and it keeps us coming back. We tried some appetizers over the visits that were not pictured as well as miso soup. The restaurant is dim inside with accent lighting above the tables and excellent music selection playing. The sushi bar and kitchen is an open concept where you can see your rolls or hibachi being made. It is about an hour and a half drive for us but the food is well worth the trek.

I had tried this restaurant when it first opened. The service was great, very welcoming, but the food was ok. This past week my daughter had not tried the restaurant and she wanted to. I told her she was paying for dinner then. I'm so glad I came back! It was delicious and they now have drinks. We went back twice that week since we were both craving sushi.

Ordered the sashimi deluxe, saba nigiri, uni nigiri, white tuna nigiri, and i forgot the roll my mom ordered. The fish tasted fresh and good. Sashimi was pretty cheap and the presentation for all our food was amazing. It was taking a while to come out but after seeing it we saw why. Overall food was good.

Came here for lunch for the first time and was very impressed. The restaurant itself was very nice and clean with welcoming staff. My server was very kind and attentive even tho she was busy. I ordered the Sashimi Lunch combo that came with a small salad, miso soup, and 12 generously cut pieces of sashimi. I was very happy with the portion sizes of sashimi as some places give very thin slices. These were a great size, at least a half inch wide each. I also ordered a side of sushi rice that was seasoned wonderfully and went really well with the meal. All in all, I wish I was closer so I could enjoy lunch here more often. 9/10 stars, would highly recommend and will be back!

Let's start with the food. Me and my lady met in Modesto for lunch and did a quick Yelp search for something near the mall. She loves sushi and I was drawn to the hibachi steak and shrimp. The hostess provided quick service and seated us right away. There seemed to be only one server to handle tables and take orders. The service was adequate but wasn't the best it could have been. I do understand they were by themselves. The restaurant itself is pretty comfortable and warmly lit, giving it a nice welcoming vibe. Back to the Food, we ordered the hibachi plate with steak and shrimp. We were pleased to learn that we could share the plate and add on salad & soup for a small upcharge. We also added on a couple of sushi rolls and pork gyoza. Everything was flavored to the gods and made perfectly Of course I added on some Abuela's Sweetheat Chili Crunch for added flavor Follow us on Instagram @Friday_night_bites_209

Exceptional service brings a new Sushi / Steak fusion restaurant to Modesto. Located across from the Vintage mall on Dale rd, next to Five Below. Very busy parking lot. You will find this new gem. We came before dinner rush, so we mostly had the place to ourselves, our waitress was amazing, and answered all our questions. The sushi options, and combo options were very tempting. Somehow the Hibachi won us over for tonight. We got the Scallops, and the Sirloin steak. This comes w house salad, miso or chicken broth soups, white rice, al dente sautéed veggies. The house salad has 3 types of dressing. Ginger, house flavorful, ranch. I highly recommend both the ginger and the house dressings. The scallops were cooked to perfection, and the sirloin steak was delightful accompanied by the sautéed mushrooms. Our amazing waitress even got me teriyaki sauce that was addicting . All in all we gorged ourselves, and slowly rolled out. I definitely want to come back and try the Sushi, as some friends have already been blowing me up about how fresh all the fish is! Stop in soon, and share the good news

Jalapeno Pop so good. Must try this. I ordered 2.

Love this place. I've been passing this place all the time I'm in town and shop at Trader Joe's. Good thing I finally tried this place. Friendly server and knows her menu. Interior is very nice and clean. I'll definitely come back here again and I recommend it as well.

The restaurant is nestled in the cute downtown area of Hughson, their main street. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the staff and seated right away. We were there on a Thursday evening about an hour before closing, but the restaurant was packed with customers. The menu has an extensive selection of Chinese and Japanese dishes. I had the Bruce Li roll which had tempura shrimp topped with crab meat, salmon, tuna, spicy mayo and unagi sauce. I also 2 pieces of the Hamachi (yellowtail), miso soup, and spicy edamame. The fish was some of the freshest I've ever had - flavorful, definitely sushi grade, and I could tell that it also wasn't previously frozen due to the color and texture. The miso soup and the spicy edamame were well-seasoned and delicious. My nephew had a combination plate with orange chicken, broccoli beef, and chicken fried rice. One thing to note that was really nice is that the restaurant allows you to create your own combination plates, they're not set items with no substitutions. When our waitress brought my nephew's combo plate, the food looked freshly cooked and delicious! He ate every bite! If you're ever in Hughson, try the Hughson Asian Kitchen - the friendly staff and tasty food won't disappoint!

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION- YOU WILL GET SICK! If I could…read moregive this place 0, I would. The reviews definitely don't reflect the actual service and food at this location. Starting off, my best friend and I were in Modesto for Barnes and Noble to get some books for my son. This location being right next to the bookstore was convenient so we went inside. The young girl who served us looked disgusted the moment my best friend said she'd never eaten there and wasn't sure how to order. She looked at her like she was stupid and just said what do you want and was not helpful whatsoever. She got the small poke bowl and I got a small donburi bowl. After what took over 5 minutes for her getting our two bowls from us, she walked away after I paid and I had to ask another worker for a lid to my bowl. Whatever, service sucked, maybe she was having a bad day? We sat down to eat (still hadn't gotten the chicken tempura and gyoza I had ordered for my son). Before my son's food even was ready I had bitten into a very bad piece of shrimp tempura that tasted as if the inside of the batter was covered in mold. I immediately spit it back out into a napkin and just sat there about to throw up. I sat there thinking this is probably just a mistake and maybe I imagined it. Then my son showed me his chicken that he said he didn't want to eat. It was old, rubbery, did not resemble chicken at all, and had black stuff around the chicken under the batter. I went to the worker who was at the counter and told her what we had received. She didn't seem surprised at all, but more surprised I wanted a refund for the two items that were spoiled. No manager onsite, apparently they usually aren't there. She called the manager who did not answer the phone but proceeded to text the worker. Asking exactly what happened several times and then proceeded to say the black on the chicken is seasoning before it's fried, which is not true because the come pre battered and it was just old. I had accepted no refund on the chicken for the ridiculous excuse, but I wanted a refund on the donburi bowl at the very least. The manager asked her to open my napkin and send a pic of the shrimp!!!! THAT IS SO NASTY! That young girl does not get paid enough to be doing all of that. That is revolting! I ended up opening it for her so she didn't have to so she could and a pic. Then the manager stopped responding to her by text. That's fine, Manager, that's fine. You should've just given me a refund for your nasty ass food that was not edible. Now you'll be receiving a visit from the county health department as they were called the moment I left your restaurant because of the food being kept at room temperature, your dirty facility, and the spoiled food you're serving to paying customer. This idiot sent me into my Karen era and I do not even care. Don't mess with people's food. Good luck.
