    Jimmy's creation poke burrito
    Shelah S.

So, this review is mad late. I did come here at the end of September as I was in the area and honestly, I was craving Chipotle. As a lifetime north-shore-ian, I was so used to this being the area of where my hungry tummy met my dearest Chipotle, come to find a completely new set of restaurants in this area. I mean....burrito plus poke?!? HELLOOOO...YES PLEASE. I knew I had to try this out! So off I went into this new, forbidden place for my tastebuds to explore. Immediately when I entered, the amount of natural light coming through the windows was something I couldn't ignore. It was bright, sunny and instantly made me happy. Thankfully, I went around lunch time so it wasn't packed. The menu was vast and it wasn't too busy which I was thankful for. I settled for a Jimmy's creation burrito wrapped in seaweed paper (ya girl loves her nori) and then a Thai Milk Tea with boba. The lovely cashier was kind enough to help me figure out what I wanted because a). the menu was large and b). I hadn't been there before so I had no idea what i was doing. **SHOUT OUT TO THE KIND CASHIER WHO HELPED A SISTER OUT** As I took a seat at one of the window seats, I paid a bit more attention to the cute interior decoration of this place. They had a little "photo op" rose colored wall with a neon light which blinked "Hello gorgeous". Yaass, I obviously loved that. Within minutes, I received my burrito and my Thai Milk tea with boba. The Jimmy's creation burrito had salmon, tuna, avocado, sweet onion, cucumber, edamame, seaweed salad, green onion, crunch onion, tobiko, pineapple, sesame seeds, mandarin orange and ginger with the house's special sauce. SIDE NOTE: I think my eyes just bogged out of my head writing every ingredient in this burrito but I digress. This thing was massive but tasted so good!! The nori it was wrapped in was crunchy and all the ingredients were delicious and fresh. I absolutely love fish (can ya telll...can ya? can ya?) and this burrio did not disappoint. All the flavors mixed well, the taste of the fish was fresh and the veggies were crunch and light. Lastly, the special sauce was bangin', it added just the right sweet yet savory kick to this burrito. Now...I wish I could say the same as the above when it came to the Thai Milk tea. When I took my first sip, it just fell flat. It wasn't sweet, it honestly tasted quite bland. And the boba, aww..my poor boba....it wasn't too chewy but it wasn't too hard either...it was that weird, middle spot where it was chewy but still hard. Maybe it's just a matter of preference but I wasn't feeling it. Overall, I would come back if I was in the area but the price is a tad bit steep for what you get (and this come from a lifelong north-shore-ian). I wouldn't mind paying it for the burrito but I think next time, I'd skip the Thai Milk tea. The customer service was pleasant and the interior of this place was cute but nothing aww-worthy. If you're in the area, I would say 'go check it out'. If not, you wouldn't be missing much. This place is good but nothing spectacular.

I can't think why I haven't stopped in here before. Unless it was the "burrito" that was causing me cognitive dissonance. I mean, I like poke, and I like bowls. You can dump it into a bowl or wrap it into a burrito. I had Jimmy's Creation Bowl: Salmon, tuna, avocado, cucumber, sweet onion, edamame, seaweed salad, green onion, crunch onion, tobiko, pineapple, sesame seed, mandarin orange, and ginger with house jimmy's special sauce. It's a bit much, isn't it? Imagine wrapping this in a burrito, it would be the size of a football. However, it was fresh, delicious and a very big bowl. I would order it with less onion and sauce. We also ordered a Salmon Obsession Bowl which was pretty similar to Jimmy's Obsession. They also offer ramen, sushi and some teas and bubble drinks. The space is small, with limited indoor and outdoor seating. Now that I get what they're about, I will stop in again to try another poke bowl.

This is by far the highest quality poke I've ever had. It was my first time trying poke in a burrito format and boy was I blown away! The sauce, flavors, freshness - all divine! I got the spicy tuna burrito and rainbow roll. I highly recommend the burritos here. The roll was good but can easily be found in other sushi places whereas the burrito is special to this establishment. Service was quick and employees were kind. There is plenty of seating inside and it's fairly clean. My only complaint is that it smells too much like old fried food when you walk in but don't let that deter you from having one of the best poke burritos of your life.

Very cute restaurant! I got the tofu poke bowl and it was really good! The workers were really nice and the poke bowl is set out so nicely. I would 100% recommend here!

Came here to grab a quick dinner to go before a Ravinia concert. Got a poke bowl and a bubble tea, and both were delicious! It was also super fast. I chose a build-your-own bowl ($15.95) and you're given an order form to fill out with various base, protein, and topping options - lots of goodies to pick from. The ingredients are fresh, and the portion generous and filling.

I love that you can add as many toppings as you want and up to 3 proteins! Everything was fresh and tasty! Loved the crunchy onion topping and eel sauce. I also liked that you order by filling out a sheet of paper. They were doing a great takeout business during lunch time. Only negative is that it cost $17. I have leftovers though because the bowl was massive.

First time ordering from here. Cute little place. Employees were nice and greeted me when I walked in. I ordered the salmon obsession w/o the mandarin orange. I didn't realize that the sauce it comes with is a mayo based sauce. I'm not a big fan of mayo at all so that the me off right away. After removing the sauce from my food, I was able to eat it. the bowl was good but needed a little kick.

I came at lunch time and was the only customer. They were super fast- I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Great for a quick lunch! The ingredients were fresh and well-balanced. The portion size was big! More than I needed for one meal, but not quite enough for two full meals. It's a tad on the pricey side- for the Spicy Tuna bowl and a can of Coke it was $19. My only complaint with the meal was the rice. It was pretty dried out and cold. It had clearly been pre-cooked and refrigerated, which was kind of a bummer. Overall, I'd go back! It was as tasty!

Poke Burrito's bowls are about twice the size of Aloha Poke's , at the same price. And the Poke Burrito bowl is better.

Also, it was a dainty bowl (small) and maybe I'd go for a medium size because. You order at the counter and it was just a few minutes to get our food. The space is small, kinda spartan, and they offer cans of soda/bottles of water but no boba. There is a small lot in front of the restaurant but a big lot in back. Even if we don't consider its rarity, Da Local Boy is a winner in every category. The prices are very fair for the enormous portion sizes, the decor is fun and appropriate, the service is friendly, and food is phenomenal both in flavors and textures. The only possible criticisms are that the space is a bit small for how popular this spot gets, and the parking in the area can be a bit limited around popular meal times. The food here shines, making it worth a special trip -- both again for the rarity but also the quality. For me, the poke nachos are a must order item, just the perfect mix of large chunks of tuna with super crispy wontons, fresh avocado, and a good helping of sauce. Amongst friends, we've agreed that this is a must order item. The huli huli chicken is also unreal in flavor and texture. Besides being marinated and sauced well, the chicken is melt in your mouth tender while simultaneously having a delicious crisp skin. Think brick chicken, but with more flavor and a much better price. The rice and macaroni salad that accompany this are also well done -- and feel more like a core part of the meal rather than an afterthought. The grilled pork is pretty good as well, though I kind of wish it wasn't sliced as thin, as certain pieces felt a bit dry. The spam musubi with a light touch of furikake also provided a flavorful, fun dish to accompany the other delicious items I tried. Overall, delicious and consistently surprises me with the quality of the execution and bold flavor combinations. This is on my top places to visit in the area and has never disappointed.

We felt no friendly vibes, we felt like she was very stern and not the nicest, especially when we had an issue that she didn't initially believe us on but turns out we were correct. Miso soup - average, as expected. Miso soup is pretty standard. Veggie tempura - not a lot. Came with 2 onions, 3 sweet potato and half of a mushroom. Usually there's more variety and more veggies included. The tempura was super thin and flaky, it fell right off. Not much flavor. It came with the smallest bit of sauce that was gone in a few dips, not enough for th whole appetizer. GIANT CRAB CRUNCH $18 (Deep fried roll with spicy crab, avocado, smoke salmon, cream cheese served wi wasabi mayo and unagi sauce) - initially the role came without smoked salmon and cream cheese, it was the wrong order. I ate a little before realizing it and when I pointed it out the waitress didn't believe me and acted like I was lying, I was very uncomfortable. She kept telling me it's the giant crab crunch and had me show her each ingredient. She was pointing at rice on the roll and telling me that it was salmon and cream cheese right there, which it absolutely wasn't, she was pointing in nothing. And my roll came with jalapeño accidentally, it wasn't supposed to, and she kept telling me there's jalapeño inside like it's supposed to and that's why she knows my order is correct... which doesn't make sense because the roll didn't come with jalapeño. Honestly the whole thing was just uncomfortable and finally she took it back to the chef and said she will ask him. Chef said it was the incorrect role after all, we were right. Now I dont care it all about the incorrect order, I only care about what felt like abrasiveness and not believing me when I mentioned. Finally they brought us the correct order and it was very soggy and fishy. The smoked salmon inside had a strong potent fishy flavor. Barely any cream cheese. Mostly spicy crab and the whole thing was mushy and totally falling apart. I asked for a side of the wasabi mayo on top since there was barely any and she said it's an extra charge for a small portion. So we politely declined and were surprised. CALIFORNIA SUNSET $19 (Crab meat, cucumber, avocado topped w/ fresh salmon w/ salmon roe served w/ citrus mayo): first of all we asked in it's imitation crab and the answer was yes. It's not real crab, which is very deceiving since the verbiage said "crab meat" but it's not crab meat, it's imitation crab which is usually white fish. Second, we asked for the citrus mayo on the side and it came with none and then they tried to charge us $1 for it. They gave just a teeny tiny bit and when we asked for more we actually did get charged $1 for a tiny little Petri dish of sauce. Quality: veggie and fish quality seemed to be good except for the fishy fish my roll. Would not go back based on this experience.
