Came in on a late Friday night. It was easy to get a table, it just took a little to get seated since there was no one at the host stand. Got seated and ordered right away. We order the Chicken Katsu, salamon teriyaki with tempura combination. We also got a dragon roll. Everything was delicious and service was very attentive.

Another great lunch experience at Sushi Kushi. I enjoyed a Kurobuta pork katsudon, the pork was tender with a crispy outside and it was a very generous portion. My companion enjoyed their chicken curry -- also a very generous portion and the chicken was very tender as well.

Our family's special occasion spot for over the years! We make it here at least twice annually, and it never disappoints. Their sashimi and sushi are consistently top-notch, showcasing the highest quality. Don't overlook their other dishes - the udon and katsu are equally delicious and authentically prepared. In my experience, this is hands down the best sashimi/sushi restaurant in the Chicagoland area. Perfect for those moments when you want to celebrate with exceptional Japanese cuisine!

a restaurant that is a mainstay in the area, sushi kushi does so many things right. my SO and i had lunch there, annie greeted us warmly and seated us right away. the menu has so many great dishes. here's what we had: gomaae--a non negotiable appetizer; one of the best we've had anywhere. the side salad with ginger dressing is crisp, cold and fresh. the dressing is perfect. negamaki beef is a hot appetizer served like a roll, cut into pieces with a terrific sauce. kitsune udon soup is really good: wheat noodles in a delicious broth served steaming hot. i often add spinach to mine. tuna carpaccio is an appetizer my SO enjoys. the tuna is sliced paper thin and the citrus dressing topped with lettuce and asparagus pieces is delicious. hotate karaage is served with a cold sauce that complements the scallops perfectly. uni shooters are small and fun! hot green tea is so good some people have asked to buy it in bulk. the ambience is cool, quiet and serene. specials should not be missed and have been so good! the service is always great: perfectly timed and always helpful. a neighborhood favorite of ours.

Sushi Kushi Toyo is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Lake County!! Tried many sushi restaurants in our area but this was is by far, one of the best; so, we keep coming back....for years!! Wait staff attentive and hostess makes an effort to check on her customers. Fish is very fresh, numerous varieties and their daily specials are the best!! Prices reasonable. Food is prepared and served quickly. No long waits. I just LOVE their delectable Avocado Salad with its addictive sauce. My husband and I tried their Tonkatsu Ramen for the first time because I wanted soup. The beef broth was light, savory, and purely delicious!! Leave room for dessert and order the Green Tea Cheescake. Green Tea not overpowering. Just the right balance. Pairs well with the Red Mongo Bean. If you are in the area or not, Sushi Kushi Toyo is really worth a try!!

Sushi Kushi is the place to go if you're serious about high quality Japanese food that's different from the value-oriented sushi you'll find in many nearby spots in the suburbs. You'll need to be open to more traditional preparations instead of being strongly sauce dependent and trying ingredients that are only available in more traditional Japanese restaurants (as opposed to the Chinese or Korean run Japanese restaurants). In exchange, you'll find high quality cuts of fish such as fatty tuna, or scallops that are not available everywhere. You can also get delicious favorites such as berkshire pork, pork belly, salmon/fish tartar, as well as a nice selection of different meats on skewers. Though the prices here are a little higher than nearby options, the portion sizes are generous and the food is consistently good. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

I went here on the recommendation of my husband. I can see why he recommended it so highly. The quality of the dishes is really good. We had the fatty tuna negitoro, dragon roll, and the spicy scallops hotate. The rolls were very fresh and high quality. The reason that I can't give it five stars is that the spicy mayo that they used was too spicy, and it ruined the roll. I couldn't finish it after the first bite. The service was good. The menu is huge and large enough to please a wide variety of tastes. I highly recommend this restaurant but, I would avoid the spicy mayo!

Sushi Kushi doesn't take reservations online like on opentable. You go to the restaurant and put your name down. Annie is usually at the front and she is great. Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, there was an overwhelming stench of poo poo cachoo when we entered the lobby prior to getting seated. I don't know if it was the cleaning agents that were used but the stench was so gross and unpleasant, I'm surprised my hubs and I were agreeable to stay. Anyways, I digress. When we were seated, the smell dissipated, thankfully. We had a lovely waiter named Lauren. She took our order and my hubs ordered the chicken ramen and I ordered the ying yang bowl. I made mine a combo because it came with a Thai iced tea and pork bao bun. We also ordered the yakitori platter to share and my hubs ordered a strawberry banana smoothie. We didn't wait too long to receive the yakitori platter which was decent but the meat was lukewarm. It consisted of chicken thigh, beef skirt, pork belly, scallops and zucchini that were on skewers. The fact that they were lukewarm didn't work in their favor. The skewers were small and didn't really hold the weight of a heavy $16 process. I then received my thai iced tea which tasted fine and my hubs enjoyed his strawberry smoothie reporting that it was creamy and flavorful. The pork bao was small but pretty good. The pork was tender and flavorful but the bao bun was too thick. It was like the bao bun thickness to the pork ratio didn't match. Still tasty nonetheless. When we got our soups, they were absolutely delicious. My hubs enjoyed his chicken ramen and he ordered extra noodles which help to enhance the dish alongside the use of the chili paste and shichimi togarashi condiment. My hubs reports that the soup including the bits of chicken at first was bland but was enhanced massively when he seasoned with the shichimi togarashi seasoning. Like him, I agreed as well. My ying yang soup was also bland in the beginning but once I added my bowl of extra noodles, some chili paste, some cayenne pepper and the shichimi togarashi condiment....things started to look up. It was creamy, spicy and oh so delicious. Lastly, to end the night, we got the Japanese cherry blossom jelly and the matcha tiramisu. Both were delicious and light. The Cherry blossom was so yummy, it reminded me of lychee. Just light and very flavorful. Absolutely, visually stunning as welll....i believe the youngins would call it a "clean girl aesthetic". The Japanese matcha tiramisu was delectable. Creamy, spongy and topped with a wonderful matcha powder that isn't overwhelming. All in all, we enjoyed our dinner date here. The food was good, price is a little steep for what you get and the decor is cute, big and open....with the exception of the smell of a really fat dinosaur who had an accident in the lobby. Thankfully, when we were heading through the lobby to leave, the stench of the dinosaur dookie was almost completely gone. For those of you who want to try it, I'd say go for it but I would also say you wouldn't miss out on anything, if you didn't.

And so it goes.. Parking in this small strip mall is usually pretty easy. It is a popular choice for lunch for many people that work in this business area of Elk Grove. I think that is because in addition to the good food, the service is not only friendly, but also very efficient. That allows you to have a nice sit-down lunch and still get back to work in time. They don't rush you, but you won't have to wait long for both the food and the check. Today I did have my delicious bento box, which as others have agreed, is a great deal for lunch. But I also splurged for a "Rock' n Rol" sushi roll, which was quite tasty. My waitress was wonderful - friendly and efficient as usual. But she didn't rush me personally. Within minutes, the restaurant was completely packed, both indoors and outdoors.  There were guests waiting to be seated throughout the evening. If you visit on a busy night like this one, be prepared to allow longer time for the food to come to the table. I could see that some of the dishes were ready on the kitchen counter waiting to be delivered to the tables, but they seemed to be a bit short-handed, especially for the tables in the patio. Our server took our order at 7:10 pm, and it took 24 minutes for our food to come out at 7:36 pm. It was fine as we were not in a hurry. The décor of Blowfish is modern and comfortable.  Our server, Bu, was friendly, cheerful, efficient, and professional.  Both my husband and I ordered a Hot Green Tea ($2 x 2).  I ordered a Sakura Roll ($17), with crab mix, jalapeño, avocado, seared white tuna, white truffle oil, wasabi mayo, sweet soy sauce, and scallions.  It was beautifully presented and packed with flavors.  There were 9 pieces and I shared 1 with my husband who also liked it.  I ate some of the pieces whole and dissembled some of them, each of the ingredients was fresh and tasty, together they created complex flavors that didn't need any other sauces or wasabi.  It's a great choice that I'd happily order it again. My husband had a Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen ($18), with silky tonkotsu broth, pork chashu, kikurage, nitamago, scallions, corn, spinach, roasted seaweed, sesame, and black garlic oil.  The bowl of ramen looked attractive.  I asked him how it tasted; he said that it was one of the best bowls of ramen he's ever had!  Wow! That's high praise coming from him, I don't think I've ever heard him saying that before!  He said that there's a nice kick even though it was not noted on the menu.  I am intrigued and will definitely try it in our future visits. He also ordered 2 pieces of sashimi -- Hamachi/yellowtail ($8).  There seemed to be a misunderstanding, and two orders of sashimi were entered instead of one.  Since the sashimi portions were fairly small, he didn't bring it up to the server, he just happily ate them and paid the bill for 2 orders ($8 x 2).  The sashimi was fresh. We also ordered a Dragon Roll ($16) to go, that had shrimp tempura, BBQ eel, avocado, and cucumber.  It was also very good. Overall, we were delighted to discover Blowfish. Between the welcoming service, fresh, flavorful food, and comfortable atmosphere, it was an excellent dining experience. We'll definitely be back.

The wait staff gave us time to just browse the menu without coming to us too quickly which really appreciated. We ordered the following: 1. Miso soup (I gave 4.5 stars) I really enjoyed it for the flavor. 2. Cucumber salad (4 stars) they give a large portion, marinated and thinly sliced cucumber with a sesame sprinkle on top. My partner said it would be a 5 if it was marinated for less time because it seemed a little floppy. Either too thinly sliced or marinated too long. He was looking for a crunch. 3. Tuna lobster sushi roll. (4 stars) I didn't expect it to be ground tuna on top, I was envisioning just a mix of lobster and tuna, this was pretty ground and then spicy as well. It was still good, I didn't expect the spice I guess because it was in the mayo? The wait staff explained it. I do think the menu should reflect spicy dishes with some sort of symbol to help. Fresh ingredients though. I'll definitely finish this. 4. Sunrise salmon poke bowl. (4 stars) my partner wanted to rate this 4.5 but a pretty significant fish bone went into his mouth and poked him. Otherwise, flavor was good, fresh fish, he loves the colors and said it's "beautiful." 5. Gyoza. (3 stars) This was kind of soggy or mid. The outside was flavorful, the beef inside was bland. Thanks for having us!
