    Krab Rangoon **
    Charnell S.

I noticed Kyoto Express was new in my area about 2 weeks ago. So, I decided to try it out. The way you order is through a kiosk and pay there too. I noticed a QR scan too. I ordered the Krab Rangoon which was fried nicely and it came with yum yum sauce. The main entree was created your poke bowl which was brown rice, mixed greens, cucumbers, ginger, tempura shrimp and steak. It was good. The restaurant was a nice size and the staff was nice. Go check it out.

    Potstickers

Kyoto Express wasn't bad at all, but it wasn't fantastic either. The inside is very clean, & the food for sure is fresh. Once inside it seems the way to navigate the menu is to first scan the large QR code on display. Then on your phone you can see what they offer. Next you go to a kiosk & enter in your order & pay. Then you pick up your drink cups & fill them at the self serve dispenser. Most of the process here is done by you. However after you sit down, the food is then brought to your table. We ordered a potsticker appetizer. It was $7 for 6. The potstickers were the tiniest we'd ever seen, so that was a letdown for what we paid. For an entree I ordered the Hibachi Shrimp. The plate was filled on one half with grilled veggies like zucchini, carrots, onions, & mushrooms. This was topped with grilled shrimp. The other half of the plate was mounded with fried rice. The food was piping hot & fresh. On its own there was not much flavor. We added their version of yum yum sauce which elevated it a bit. They only gave a tiny amount of sauce...I believe it was like an ounce or two. If I wanted more they would charge me for it. Anyway, the place was good, but not exciting enough for me to return.

    Lunch special hibachi with chicken.

Hibachi for lunch? YES PLEASE! Kyoto Express provides supposed fresh food and service is super quick. Their lunch special is too good to be true, very affordable price for a lot of good. I did prefer the shrimp over the chicken though, both were good. Hoping to come back soon to try the appetizers.

Salmon poke bowl & spring rolls

I was super excited to try this place when it opened. The prices are so cheap for poke bowls & they have great lunch specials. Ordered the salmon poke bowl and was impressed with how much food comes in it & how fresh it tasted. I ordered pick up & the entire process was very quick. Staff was quick and friendly. Restaurant looked very clean inside with some seating. Can't wait to go back and try more!

The Ramen is okay, but it just doesn't hit like before. The restaurant was a laid back vide with Japanese inspired themes and music in the background. Our server points us to our table and hands us menus to start. We always start out with an edamame appetizer and then go ahead and order the ramen. My partner got the spicy tonkatsu and I had wanted to do the "make your own ramen" option. I really wanted wagyu but didn't like the toppings it came with. So I just made my own, though it was very costly to add more toppings, so I just chose 2. Overall, the experience was okay. It's not the worse ramen place I've been to but I'll probably only swing my when it's out of convenience

Where to start about this amazing yet quaint culinary delight on Kennedy Blvd. In South Tampa?…read more Our dear friends decided we needed an impromptu dinner and that we should visit Paul's as they had a few weeks prior, so naturally when your chosen family suggests-" let's do dinner", you do! Paul's is a truly marvelous establishment and its size ( there are probably 10-12 tables) is very NY. Small and intimate but what comes forth from the kitchen is pure magic. The cuisine is an Asian fusion- that word "fusion" is used a lot these days sometimes a bit much, but Paul's can use whatever words they choose because the food is delicious. We started with the chicken satay, and crispy spring rolls. The satay was delightful and the chicken was tender and flavorful. The spring rolls are def made in house- no frozen spring rolls here, and very tasty. I ordered the Pad Thai- with chicken and shrimp at a medium spice level. All I can say is- WOW, just WOW! By far the best Pad Thai I have had in Tampa in 11 years. The subtle flavors coupled with the mild - yet striking spice was a carnival of excitement in my mouth. The chicken was tender was was the shrimp- the noodles cooked to perfection and the dish was NOT wet- it was perfectly seasoned and was accompanied by a Thai chili vinegar on the side and pepper flakes to add a bit more spice- if I had fancied that. Well, I did. Not because it wasn't seasoned as I had asked, but because I decided to add a little more kick! Our server was just lovely- attentive, helpful and always there when we needed her- always checking to be sure we were ok. The time from kitchen to table is perfect- yet there is no rush, the restaurant just wants to be sure you are enjoying yourself! We topped the evening off with a slice of coconut cream pie- fabulous!! Our experience with Paul's won't be our last. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment...from the happy greeting when we arrived to the sweet farewell from the entire staff when we departed. Paul's is a gem on Kennedy!

The tom yum soup had a nice spicy kick, but the shrimp had a slight freezer-burn taste. I ordered the sweet potato salmon dish and was disappointed that the salmon was overcooked. The drunken noodles were a bit on the salty side, though not terrible. Overall, it's an "okay" spot, but it wouldn't be my first choice for Thai food. That said, the service was very friendly, the restaurant looked clean and well-maintained, and the Thai tea was delicious.

I decided to go with 2 rolls for lunch; a basic yellowtail roll, and a spider roll, which comes with fried softshell crab. While I was waiting, the sushi chef provided me with a specialty piece of yellowtail that was amazing! My rolls came out quickly, and they were absolutely perfect. While less pieces than I'm used to, the yellowtail roll was packed with fish. And the soft shell crab was perfectly cooked, plus I love that they provided the deep fried legs, too. Everything I received was beautifully plated on slate dishes, which is always a nice touch. Yes, I do think its more expensive than other sushi places ($4 for a soda, come on?!) but it was really excellent sushi. If I'm ever in the area again (which, honestly, I hope not to be), I would definitely return.

We arrived around 10:15 p.m. on a Friday night, with the restaurant closing at 11:00 p.m. Maybe that contributed to our experience, although several other parties were seated after us, so we weren't the last customers of the evening. We ordered quickly since we already knew what we wanted. My partner ordered the special, I ordered the ramen, and we shared the fried shrimp dumplings as an appetizer. Our server was friendly and attentive, though it was clear the staff was beginning to transition into closing mode. Unfortunately, that affected the atmosphere. While we were still eating, employees were spraying tables and mopping nearby. The smell of cleaning chemicals mixed with our food, which made the dining experience less enjoyable. When my ramen arrived, it looked more like a wonton soup or pho than the ramen I was expecting. I didn't question it because I assumed it might be their interpretation of the dish. However, the broth was quite bland, and the vegetables were still somewhat undercooked. The chicken had no seasoning, it tasted like it was boiled within the broth. After a few bites and sips, I decided not to finish it. My partner seemed to enjoy his meal, though he tends to be pretty easygoing when it comes to food. I didn't try his dish since it was very spicy and that's not really my thing. The restaurant is in a great location on Central Avenue, which makes it a fun area to walk around and people-watch. However, with most dishes priced around $20, I expected a better overall experience and higher quality food. Unfortunately, this isn't a place I would return to.

The beef and broccoli and the beef lo mein are both must gets. How do they make the beef so tender? We decided that although the sesame chicken is good, next year we'll try something else. It's fried chicken bites soaked in sauce. My husband liked the spring rolls and wonton soup. We bought an extra side of rice not realizing we'd get rice with the meat dishes so we ended with 3 cartons of rice. I tried the matcha oat milk slush. I love that it's topped with cheese foam.
