Really enjoyed my sushi burrito. Added 3 scoops of salmon for a total of $10.99 ish. I thought the price was reasonable as just one salmon roll elsewhere would cost that or more and the burrito is bigger than a regular roll. The price also included a $1 avocado up-charge which was fine. The lady behind the counter really made an effort to chat with me and was really nice. The place was clean. I've only had poke from a total of two establishments now! You really can't go wrong here, I came with over 7 coworkers and we were all served, seated, and eating within 15-20minutes of entering. It's a pretty small place, and we got here early enough that we were able to get seating with everyone, but keep that in mind if you come with more than 4 people, there's limited tables for 4+ people. The staff were really nice and did a great job answering everyone's questions about different toppings and sauces. I do wish they mixed up the ingredients a bit, I wanted equal toppings in each bite, and that required a bit of stirring--but after a couple of bites because they pack it in your bowl (that's not a complaint, fill my bowl up please and thank you!) Everyone loved their meat choices, the tuna was fresh! A lot of topping choices, and I'm glad they have it labeled on the glass as to what each topping is (which of course I didn't see until after I asked what 75% of the fillings were, oops). The food here was delicious. My husband and I ordered Poke bowls. I had a regular sized bowl with the salad as a base and spicy tuna. You can have as many mixins as you'd like and the sweet cashier recommended the sauce which was the Spicy Poke Sauce. As for my husband, he ordered something entirely different but it was equally if not more delicious than mine. His was a large bowl; rice for the base, 2 spicy tuna and 1 spicy salmon, most of the mixins minus the egg, and Spicy Mayo and Eel Sauce. He had Seaweed Salad added to it. I came in at about 11:45a on a weekday, only to be ignored for five minutes while they finished their prep. That gave me time to look around at the menu & options. What immediately came to my attention were the small portions: their "large" is the equivalent of "regular" elsewhere. So immediately you are forced into an "upgrade" if you want anything other than a snack. Being that this was probably going to be my main meal of the day I chose to go "large" with three proteins. For my proteins I decided on two tunas and tempura shrimp. The scoops were tiny -- I've gotten a larger scoop at Baskins & Robins. I doubt if there was 2 oz of tuna. And the tempura shrimp was one tiny over-battered specimen. It was warm, so at least I'll give them that on the "positive" side. They were equally stingy with the other toppings; I think I counted eight edamame and four slices of cucumber amongst the other add ins, none of which really amounted to much. Checking out was unfun. For some unknown reason there was no power to the credit card reader and the server was disinclined to try to remedy the situation. Luckily I also had cash. If you're a USF student, there 5% discount OR free soda if you have your ID on you. They also do a free can of soda at the moment if you check in on Facebook or yelp. They also have a promotion if you come in large groups and gift card for your birthday! The sizes they have is Regular (2 protein), Large (3 protein) and Super (10 protein). Their options of mix in is not a lot compared to other places. When placing my order, I noticed there was not a lot of veggies as U Poke Spot. I always order spicy tuna and salmon... I was very disappointed to see "smashed mix" tuna and salmon instead of cubed. It made it very mushy to eat. They are very conservative on the amount they give you. I did notice if you don't add a lot of mix ins - they add a bit more of whatever mix in you chose earlier. I asked for cilantro and I'm pretty sure I received two little leaves. If you pick avocado, they freshly cut a new one for you which is nice. Price wise - they are more expensive than their competitor. It seems their upper hand in the competition is they have uber eats, which is convenient for college students. read more
