Wednesday night we were looking for something "different" for dinner without wanting to spend too much. We decided to try Poke King for the 1st time. My wife & I both ordered "Regular" size bowls which come with 3 scoops of protein. I chose the Ahi Tuna, salmon, and yellow tail over a combo of greens & brown rice. Everything tasted fresh & yummy. Poke is not something I was familiar with until moving to Reno, but I've been hooked ever since trying it! I visited Poke King on 4/13 and the girl who made our food was super nice and helpful! I got tuna and salmon, with spicy mayo, white rice, cucumber and sesame seeds. It was delicious and I will definitely return to this location! The fish is SO fresh, the shoyu/spicy mayo sauce combo is perfection my only suggestion/hack is to get your rice separate if you're ordering take out. First of all, their poke is just too good for words. I can't go anywhere else. And second of all, every workers there are so sweet and friendly. A girl name Coco is always helpful but she impressed me once again today. I've never made a togo order over the phone here before till today. It's a lot different to order poke over the phone when I don't have the access to the menu and/or I am not able to see the actual ingredients in front of me. It should have been their prime dinner rush time at the time (7pm) but she was VERY professional and patient, helpful and kind all the way. I was so pleased, I had to ask her name so I could thank her in person when I picked it up She even had an extra nice touch to ask for her again in the future (because I've ordered something out of their menu for our kids) so I would get the consistent order. This is my current favorite place to eat in Reno ! Healthy, fast and terribly yummy! The sweet girls that work there know us and are always super pleasant whenever we show up - which is often. The food is fresh the prices are great - the only thing I would say is the chairs are uncomfortable- I prefer the benches. read more

Posting this in an effort to have owners look at operations. I have loved this place since the moment they opened. I stood in the lines, was patient with staffing who were rockstars and little tweaks they made along the way. However, the consistency is no longer. I use to patronize them 5x month at least. About a year and 1/2 ago ( as they were expanding to other locations) things began to change. Where fish and freshness are concerned I like consistency. Fish cuts changed. Staff changed. Quality changed. Wonton chips changed. Container changed. Many of which could be fine but never seemed to be in a better way. I get greens with my bowl and the last 2 times were all wilty.. Chips are now overcooked more times than not. Fish is more fatty and not cut consistently. Soy Sauce isn't soy sauce. Last time we went I noted how it had been a long time since my last visit to my dining mate. Poki is usually the first thing I want for a meal. The service was not great and the new (again) staff didn't really know the process or how to move the line efficiently... or ratios. Lettuce not great. Super fatty tuna. Old EdaMame and then the funny thing was it's not even in a bowl anymore. In your name... Poki Bowl. Not Poki flimsy box that leaks. I will try one more time because I have loved them and want to support them but their time is ticking if they don't look at some of these things. This is our first time here and we have not really tried a real poke bowl, the poke we normally have is not even close to this. The staff were friendly and accommodating, I had to throw my disclaimer out there that I'm a bit novice on choosing the right seafood combo and the different type of sauce that goes perfect with it, not to mention an array of toppings you could add. So per recommendation I had a regular size bowl with 3 protein I've chosen: salmon, shrimp and octopus , my base was wonton chips and add ones such as spicy crab, mango, cilantro, tobiko and fried garlic, also I pick the ponzu sauce with a little teriyaki. I don't typically eat fish. (I say this all the time on here ;) I'm actually usually repulsed by it. However, I have been known to very occasionally eat sushi and I sometimes do like really fresh raw fish. I don't know why. Every once in a while my mysterious brain tells me that I need some fish. Perhaps for nutritional reasons. Who knows? But I've been previously limited to just a few sushi places that serve something I like. Needless to say, I was pretty excited when I heard about this place. When it was explained to me, my friend said you got 'raw fish in a bowl with anything you want.' I was skeptical. Anything? It sounded too good to be true. But I can tell you that it was an absolutely accurate way to describe this place. You get to choose a carb, a sauce a protein and then add from a selection of veggies and extras. They even let me skip the fish or get just one scoop if I'm feeling less adventurous. I can honestly say, that doesn't happen much anymore. I have been converted to a full blown fish eater by Poke King. If you had told me two years ago that I would spend hours daydreaming of three scoops of raw salmon in a bowl, I would have slapped you. But its true. Brown rice, salmon or tuna and fresh jalepenos, cucumber, cilantro and spicy mayo = heaven. Don't take my word for it. Go check it out. In a world of AYCE sushi, this is a nice break especially if you don't got time to sit down and spend an hour to eat. In and out, this fast, casual and healthy lunch alternative is heaven sent. They technically aren't open yet. This is their soft opening run and still working out the knick knacks. Pricing is fair, especially when all the toppings are included and the fish tastes fresh. The friendly customer service is still getting used to their Point of Sale system but it's not worth deducting a star. I went with the gentlemen's recommendation of mixing of spicy mayo and truffle shoyu with salmon, yellowtail, and scallops. Then I proceeded to add all the toppings like seaweed, krab mix, tobiko, cucumbers, etc. Now they just need to open one in South Reno even before they technically open this one. read more

My top place for a poke bowl, yeah it's not the biggest space for the place but I like that shop. It's great how I can change what I want each time, and sometimes I get recognized and they remember how I used to get it and just make it that way and always add extra shallots for me. Quality of food was great. Came in during my lunch hour with a coworker( last week). No line which was great. Reason I gave 3 stars was the service. The lady who prepared my meal could not have been more rude and seemed annoyed. Word of advice to you,leave your personal problems at the door. Also, if you hate your job then quit. Poké King is a great concept, and Reno definitely needs a good Poké spot. I was very excited to try it when I saw an advertisement about it. However, Poké King needs to step it up. I ordered a large poke bowl that had a mix of salmon, regular tuna, and yellowtail. I added green and white onions, seaweed salad, tobiko, avocado, masago, wasabi, ginger, sesame seeds, and shoyu. It came out to be just over $16. I thought, for the small amount of fish and large portion of rice they gave me, this had better be good...it was disappointing to say the least. The quality of the fish was not good, and I expected to be at least near sushi grade. Poké should not be near room temperature. The most basic part of the bowl, the rice, was even poor quality. Some of the rice was hard, and some was very clumpy. Had this bowl been priced at ten dollars or less, I might have not expected so much out of it. But at this price point, I am better off going to get AYCE sushi for lunch for just a few dollars more. read more

I finally made it here since I live all the way across town. It's super simple to make your Poke Bowl and they have lots of protein, sauces, and toppings to choose from. The employees behind the amazing food is awesome to share you what goes well with what and gives you an idea of good combinations of Poke. I got a regular bowl ($10.95 / 3 scoops of protein) with white rice base. In addition, two scoops of protein, one scoop of octopus, green onions, with sesame ponzu, and spicy mayo. As for toppings, you can get MANY as you want. Tobiko, avocado ($1 extra), seaweed salad, and crab was a must for me. It was definitely worth the drive. I love how developed Reno has become. SO many diverse food options are coming here, which allows me to stay in my hometown rather than drive hundreds of miles for a specific restaurant. Poke King is certainly a blessing. It's basically a chipotle for fish. When you enter there's options such as your base, protein, sauce, and then toppings. For a regular bowl, it's $11, and $15 for large bowl. I got white rice, salmon, tuna, and spicy mayo with diverse toppings. It was SOOO good and filling. There are so many toppings to choose from and you can have as many as you'd like (avocado is extra as usual). The fish was fresh quality and so were the toppings. Definitely worth the price. They also sell dessert, which are a variety of ice cream macarons! Service and staff were very friendly and welcoming as well, with fast service. This place is small, (there are 2 benches and 2 outdoor tables), so we had to get takeout since all the tables were taken. Their sign is a little hard to find, but it's located right next to papa Murphy's. read more
