She didn't greet us coming in, but she did with everyone else who walked in, even her tone of voice changed like wth we're paying customers as well. Omg I actually freaked when I read eel poke bowl. Absolutely phenomenal! If you like eel unagi I recommend this bowl, try with rice as well and adding eel sauce too. My order took about seven minutes to be ready. I do believe that there could have been more greens added to my bowl. It didn't look nowhere near full or even halfway. With a drink, my regular poke bowl was about $17 and the total got to about $20 with tip. It was very fresh, flavorful, and delicious. I had salmon, tuna, and spicy tuna as my fish choices and I loved the crab meat, avocado, and cucumber, it really felt like a deconstructed sushi roll which I know is the whole concept lol but still great to match the taste with the concept and say it was successful! My only note is the soda options.. they just didn't hit, i settled for a sprite or whatever the clear soda is called these days, i feel uppity with my soda expectations. most places these days have agua Frescas and other craft soda options. After seeing the positive reviews, Poke Land seemed promising, but boy was I wrong. I ordered a build your own regular bowl, which comes with three scoops of fish. For protein, I opted for all salmon, but what I got was no more than one scoop of salmon if that. The tray of rice was spaced out and not even full. Rice was hard and lumpy and the fish was cut into such small pieces. Also, the salmon did not look fresh at all. I placed my order online and had arrived well after the time that was listed for picking up the order only to find out it was not even ready or made yet. For almost $20 I got very skimpy portions with fried onion sprinkled out to make it seem like there's a decent amount, but if you look at the bowl you will see how it's not full. The bowl had no taste or flavor and there was little to no sauce at all. It felt like I was eating plain tasteless fish with white rice. Even with the skimped out rice, I ended up finishing all of the salmon and still had plain white rice left. Wanted to like this place, but I think I'll just stick with my usual go to spots for poke in SoCal. At least I know I'll get what I paid for along with high quality taste. I hate writing this review but tonight my significant other and I just threw away our entire meals after spending almost $40-50. We were both super excited to have poke but after a few bites of our meal from Poke Land we both couldn't eat any more of dishes and off they went to the trash. Our meals didn't seem fresh and just tasted "off". We both love poke and know what it should taste like and let me tell you... both our meals were not bearable. We both are praying we don't get sick. Took my best friend out for poke since she's never tried it before and it didn't disappoint. Got the spicy tuna and salmon with the eel sauce, so good. The small bowl is filling enough for me, you can only choose two proteins but for an additional $2.50 you can add a third protein. All the elements of the poke bowl were fresh and flavorful, highly recommend if you want some good poke in Bakersfield. You can eat there outside on the side of the building on a small patio area. I would have put five stars but the customer service was terrible. Was craving poke and haven't had any since I moved to Bako so popped in here to get some. When I arrived the place was busy which gave me a peek into what I was going to get and it looked delicious. When I got up to the counter, the food looked fresh and clean. I ordered a spicy tuna bowl with krabmeat, white rice, most of the veggies and sauces. The tuna was delicious, not too spicy and the seaweed salad was okay, it was a bit bland. The rice was a bit dry and crumbly, it wasn't sticky like I've had at other places which makes it creamy and they didn't swirl any spicy mayo or other sauces on top. You get to choose your base, sides, proteins, and sauces, so your dish is truly customized to your taste. It's kind of like deconstructed sushi. I chose all except no onions. I got the crabmeat, but I'm not a crab person, so next time I'll leave that off too. #3 - choose your fish. I chose tuna and albacore #4 - choose your sauce.
