January 6th at 12pm- I would've given this place a 5 star, but unfortunately the young lady who attended my husband and I wasn't in a good mood. She was very rude, snappy, and in a rush. She didn't greet us coming in, but she did with everyone else who walked in, even her tone of voice changed like wth we're paying customers as well. With that out of the way now I can continue with the food review Idk what the name of my sushi burrito was, but whatever was inside was actually really good. My bf had some sort of bowl that was really stacked with ginger that wasn't really that good. Other than that the place is clean. They offer some different drinks other than fountain drinks. It was just the service that took that one star away.

Fast delivery, generous portions, good quality food, and a nice variety of Toppings. They left me a nice note explaining any discrepancies

The food was delicious! It was a great place to go with friends since many of us have preferences over cooked or raw seafood since there were many options! The workers were kind and the inside was calm and clean, definitely recommend this place since it wasn't bad on the price for what you receive!

It was my first time here and I had myself questioning why. There was a wide selection of toppings that it gets a bit intimidating but the servers are nice and patient. Everything seemed fresh and price point was decent. They have a few tables for dine in although I have noticed that most people get their orders to go. The serving size was big enough to share but it tasted so good that I cannot just stop eating and savoring every bite. Will most likely be back!

I came here after seeing the good reviews and wanted to give it a try since we have a favorite poke spot in Palmdale and wanted to compare. Unfortunately, there was no comparison. Maybe it was just an off day, but I won't be coming back because the poke in Palmdale is simply unbeatable. The protein portions were small, and the scallops didn't seem fresh; I thought it might be just me, but my husband agreed they tasted off. They replaced the scallops with spicy crab, but we were still disappointed. The only redeeming factor was the friendly staff member who helped us. Even my husband, who's usually easy to please, was not happy with the meal. 11/12/24

Quick spot to eat a fresh poke bowl of your liking. I go for the small bowl with two scoops of salmon, white steam rice as my base with house sauce and spicy mayo, for my sides I like it fresh with cucumbers, crabmeat, and avocado. Adding seaweed salad , green onions, edamame, ginger and Masago with an extra scoop of spicy crabmeat 10/10 recommend Service is excellent and friendly Ambiance is clean & top 10 radio hits non stop 10/10 will come back

Good choices, heavy on the sauce however. We were rushed through the line to pick our choices but good poke bowl. Small shop.

After seeing the positive reviews, Poke Land seemed promising, but boy was I wrong. I ordered a build your own regular bowl, which comes with three scoops of fish. For protein, I opted for all salmon, but what I got was no more than one scoop of salmon if that. The tray of rice was spaced out and not even full. Rice was hard and lumpy and the fish was cut into such small pieces. Also, the salmon did not look fresh at all. I placed my order online and had arrived well after the time that was listed for picking up the order only to find out it was not even ready or made yet. For almost $20 I got very skimpy portions with fried onion sprinkled out to make it seem like there's a decent amount, but if you look at the bowl you will see how it's not full. The bowl had no taste or flavor and there was little to no sauce at all. It felt like I was eating plain tasteless fish with white rice. Even with the skimped out rice, I ended up finishing all of the salmon and still had plain white rice left. Wanted to like this place, but I think I'll just stick with my usual go to spots for poke in SoCal. At least I know I'll get what I paid for along with high quality taste. Of all places I came across this one, but never again.

Ask the Community - Poke Land - Bakersfield

Do they offer a vegetarian bowl option?

Is this place open back up yet?

We were at Boba Time yesterday, Sunday, and noticed people going in there.

Can you ask for cooked salmon in your bowl? I see a few pics that seems like you can but I'm not sure.

They do have a salmon bowl which comes with cooked salmon, so I imagine you could add it to a different entree for a fee

Coconut Joe's is still a welcomed regular at any family gathering and a personal favorite of mine to this day. They've always had a strong burger. The huli huli burger n fries which is their pineapple burger is my favorite. For family style eating, their half pack and full packs are perfect. Their tri tip is good on its own, but with the corn, rice, and coleslaw mixed in with it is next level and the flavor always brings me back good times. The vibe inside is super fun. They fully embrace the surfer theme and have surf decorations wall to wall. Their televisions play classic surf trip movies which are fun to watch. Sometimes in the winter they will play snowboard and ski trip videos. Back in my youth, this was one of my favorite parts of the experience. I still love it, but don't get to dine in as often as I used to. They're great for take out, though I find the burger and fries are best enjoyed fresh in the restaurant.

You pass through it on the way to somewhere else…read more-- Mammoth, the Sequoias, the long flat grind up the 99 to Sacramento -- and if you stop at all, it's for gas or a bathroom or because your BMW's brakes have decided, somewhere around the Grapevine, that they'd rather not. Thank you, Weatherford BMW of Berkeley, for the near-death experience and, inadvertently, for one of the best nights out I've had in years. Stranded and waiting on repairs, we checked into The Padre, the only hotel in Bakersfield that feels like someone with a subscription to Dwell had a hand in it, and set out walking through a downtown that time has treated with more kindness than reputation suggests. There's a Woolworth's luncheonette still hanging on. There are old brick facades and wide sidewalks and the particular quiet of a Central Valley evening when the heat finally breaks. And then, on 18th Street, there is Tiki-Ko, and suddenly you are no longer in Bakersfield at all. You are, instead, inside someone's magnificent obsession. Tiki-Ko is a proper tiki bar -- not a tiki-themed cocktail lounge, not a place that bought some bamboo at a craft store and called it atmosphere, but a genuine, committed, floor-to-ceiling shrine to mid-century Polynesian fantasy. The carvings are real. The lighting is correct -- which is to say, barely there. The mugs are serious. There are pufferfish lamps and carved totems and the whole glorious taxonomy of tiki ephemera, accented here and there with a skate-culture edge that keeps it from feeling like a museum. It's reverent without being precious. The drinks are the real thing. Mai Tais built with actual orgeat. Zombies that earn the name. The bartenders make them with the kind of care and enthusiasm that tells you this isn't a gig -- it's a calling. They want you to be here. They want to talk about rum. They want you to try the Painkiller. In a city that most Angelenos regard as a punch line, somebody built a world-class cocktail bar and filled it with joy, and the regulars clearly know it. You will not plan a trip to Bakersfield. But if you find yourself there -- by mechanical failure, by accident, by the peculiar mercy of a bad brake job -- walk downtown. Find the tiki bar. Order a second round. Stay longer than you intended. Bakersfield has been underestimated, and Tiki-Ko is the proof.

Little hidden gems. Lighting is dark with bits color and neon popping through. The Bar Top curves around the bar- there are two booths that seat 5-6 and two short tables next to them- one seats 4- the other will comfortably seat two. There are a few bench style seating areas at the front with some short coffee tables. Think- skater tiki bar. The drinks were good- small menu if you're not sure what you want or are new to tiki. Both sides of the menu are the same menu. There are some nice mocktail options as well- you don't see that often. The service for me is mixed- it wasn't busy- steady but not busy- 1/4 full. I ordered two drinks to start for our table- (no cocktail servers here/not unusual for a small Tiki bar) I asked for a soda water- the bartender looked at me without a word- popped open a can of soda water and walked away. When he walked back by, I asked for a glass of ice- he said nothing and I got an eye-roll huff. I almost left. I don't think providing a glass with ice to pour your canned room temp soda water in, is too wacky an idea to be perturbed by the request. The female who took the order was friendly, smiled and was professional. We got a third cocktail- the Mai Tai. The grumpy bartender was friendlier this time. So, that helped. Maybe he felt overwhelmed and I threw off his groove by asking for water- then a glass... either way- being annoyed wasn't cool. The music.... Wasn't Tiki- it threw off the "Tiki Vibe" and made it feel typical small local bar that serves only Tiki drinks with some Tiki decor. It didn't take you to the land of Tiki- disappointed. Drinks were good.
