Keep forgetting about this place in Mililani. So ono this place. Kalbi is on point sweet and flame grilled with a little char. The garlic shrimp cook to perfection. The garlic poke. Savory, tangy with a hint of garlic. The garlic ahi was cooked perfect. Not over cooked n dry, but moist. Melt in ur mouth. I might have got to much garlic and will be scaring vampires away. Lol. Suggest you call in your order in advance as the lines to get in can be long; but very much worth it. Chef Elmer Guzman is extraordinary and his staff are awesome! They also show great Aloha today offering their amazing portuguese bean soup for free! It was so touching to see a Kupuna Wahine be given the soup and she didn't have to buy anything! My now wife and I used to go to Poke Stop pretty often when we lived in Waipio. It became one of our first "traditions" when we moved in together to stop by Poke Stop to get the hamachi and creamy salmon poke, which are both our favorite poke on the island, and head to the beach. We moved further away, so we don't get to eat our favorite pokes quite as often as we did before. But when we got engaged and started planning our wedding, we immediately thought of Chef Guzman's Island Catering for our big day. Even with our tight budget, we had so many tasting options to choose from. This was our first and last tasting appointment for selecting our wedding menu because as delicious as their poke is, these dinners were far better! We were set! Tristin was very easy to work with, keeping very prompt and clear lines of communication through the entire process. And, so appropriately, on our big day we were sent an AMAZING all-woman crew! These 3 women (I'm so sorry, I don't remember your names) went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. And, wow! All our guests (and even our wedding planner who has worked with many higher end catering companies) commented on how impressed they were with the food. The pan seared snapper was the biggest hit of the evening! It was flaky, moist, and rich, yet light. People were trying to go up for seconds before everyone had even had a plate. We over-ordered and thought we'd have left overs, but there definitely were not (a lot of people commented on how they overate. Haha.) Overall, I am so incredibly pleased with this company. I highly recommend them to all and will definitely be using their services again for catering needs in the future. Cheers EDIT: While everything I stated previously remains true, I feel the need to update based on our two latest experiences with Poke Stop... The quality and quantity of the food has significantly decreased in the past months (even shortly before Covid), so I need to reduce my rating by a full 2 stars. Let's be clear: Catering still gets 5 stars, but the restaurant drops down to 2. I understand the need of a small business to cut costs at this difficult time. However, especially because this is a necessity, there should be a serious strive to maintain the quality. Unfortunately, this hasn't been the case. Yesterday we got take out. We ordered a Kalbi plate with a side of Taegu chicken, the Lobster melt special, and 3 different pokes. The kalbi maintained its texture and flavor, but the portion was smaller. Understandable, but not worth the price when other places are maintaining portion sizes. The Taegu flavor and texture were "ok" but a very small portion for an additional $5. The Lobster melt was...meh. Looking at it, you wouldn't even know there was anything between the two slices of bread because it was so thin. I tasted bread and Brie with a few celery crunches. If I had done a taste test I would not have been able to identify lobster as an ingredient at all. Upon opening the sandwich I did see about a teaspoon's worth of lobster spread over a half sandwich (with little celery chunks as a filler). For $9 I felt a bit robbed. I was willing to forgive because what I really come here for is the poke! In terms of poke, I was again disappointed. There was no hamachi, which is entirely forgivable (because, let's be honest, is entirely dependent on availability). The "creamy" seasoning was still spot on! Poke Stop has this on lockdown! There is something magical about the spicy/creamy marinade. My mouth is watering as I type this. However, the creamy salmon was by far the best thing we ordered. The furikake salmon was also consistent with what it's been for years. Delicious! However, after having two mouthfuls of the garlic salmon, I had to pull scales out of my mouth. The prices here are significantly higher than at other places. I would think that for more than $15 per pound I would be guaranteed the fish would be cleaned properly. Quality maintenance needs to be maintained, especially when cost is rising. The service by staff was excellent! But that's not enough to keep me going back. The friendly, tattooed gentleman (sorry I forgot your name) earned his tip! He was friendly, helpful, and accommodating and our order was ready so quick! But in terms of food quality, we're going to have to think twice before returning. Full disclosure, my wife and I live far away but frequent Poke Stop at least once every other month because we loved the food so much. Stopped in to try a bowl while my daughter was at practice. Had time to kill so didn't have this place in mind- just was driving in the area and saw it. First impression, clean, good sized area, nicely arranged and overall noise was good. The menu is large and easy to read- not too busy or fussy in appearance-you can't miss it, you look up slightly from the counter area. There was one girl at the front- she was chatting with the guys in the back so she didn't notice me immediately; I didn't mind, had to choose my dish. They have plate lunches, poke bowls, poke, etc. I opted for a takeout poke bowl for myself and one for my daughter. I chose the California ahi and salmon kimchee bowl for her. Total was $33+ 15% tip. Each bowl was $15.95 The California ahi bowl is huge; the salmon bowl is 1/2 the size. Small portion of kimchee--weird, kimchee bowl with such a small amount, the salmon portion is descent. Overall taste for the ahi bowl was yummmmm; for the salmon bowl it was good, nothing out of the ordinary to make my daughter beg to return. I waited 15 minutes- I didn't care as I had nothing else to do- was entertained by the TV and Guy Fieri's poster. I will probably return and try another bowl on their menu. Disappointed with my order. My son wanted the Sam's burger and I ordered the yakisoba fried noodles. They told us we had to wait in the car for our order. No problem. When we got home my son was upset because he really wanted the burger. What they gave me was a veggie burger (portobello mushroom and tofu), which looked terrible. If I was a vegetarian I wouldn't eat it. There was no other customers, so I'm not sure how they made the mistake. I called to let them know and no apology. They offered to give me the correct burger or get a refund. Which I decided to get a refund. I went in to return the wrong food, cause no one wanted to eat it and ask for my refund. Still no apology. Great place to pick up a gourmet lunch for under $20. They have great variety of food from fresh poke to plate lunch as well as burgers. Today I went for the deconstruction bowl which consists of shrimp, poke, seared ahi and tako over sushi rice. It's one of my favs there along with the spicy garlic tots. Service is usually quick and friendly. I have never seen more than a few people inside and parking has never been a problem either. I usually come for lunch though so I don't know how busy it gets around dinner time. I also realized they work with a company who does delivery so that's pretty convenient. The only reason I didn't give them 4 stars is because my taste buds are pretty loyal to Taniokas which of course is outta the way of my daily routine. Nice place to get some poke! There are many options to choose from here and the fish tastes fresh. We tried the salmon and some tuna poke too. I like the look and style of their menu, it's clear and easy to understand and I like the handlettering and all the different fonts. I'll say this now. I don't like Mililani. Every time I come up here I roll my eyes and go ugh, gotta deal with people from here. My best friend and I couldn't get into a nearby brunch place before they stopped serving breakfast, so I was already irritated. And HUNGRY. I look over and see a Poke Stop. The decor isn't bad too. Same menu all around, so I get, surprise surprise, the seafood combo. I. Need. My. Salmon. I forget what my friend got. Went to poke stop Mililani and got a stop and go bento . The menu on the window said $11.95 but cashier charged me $14.95 . When I pointed out the cost on the window she stated " oh we're trying to fix those prices" ????? Just got home with my take out order. I got the Sous Chef Selection. It comes with choice of poke and toss salad or potato salad. I ordered Ross but got potato instead and there is no poke anywhere. The potato salad was mushy but the grilled fish was excellent and Kalbi was delish. Can't comment on the Poke as I never got it but it would probably be good as well. *Please Be Careful* Hair Found in Decon Bowl ($15.95) On October 9th, I received the Decon bowl with hair in the bowl. I called to let them know. They apologized and said next time I could get something else to replace that experience. A day later, we were going to make a large order to pay for in full. In addition, I was going to get a replacement item due to that experience. Right away, I was given bad customer service. I didn't want to get the decon bowl again incase it was from the same batch. I asked for something cheaper($14.95 seafood combo), and the owner's wife Samantha said that wasn't possible and that it had to be the same item. We will take our orders elsewhere where we can get guaranteed customer service and not find hair in our expensive bowls. read more

Ordered again after a long time. Phoned in an 2 orders, first one was lobster stuffed Mahi for 18.99. Had so little stuffing it was embarrassing and the Mahi was dry. Second one was the kalua pig and poke combo for 16.99. Poke was the limu type. The raw ahi was the previously frozen kine. It was super hard and the taste was horrible. A place that calls itself Poke should be serving fresh ahi. Maybe they think people can't tell the difference. Kalua Pig was good. When we arrived, there were a couple inside so I walked in. I young male employee told "you gotta leave!" "you gotta leave"! Very rudely without an explanation as to why. So I go out and there are like 10 papers on the door. The one that said only one group at a time was in small letters. They should make one big one to make it easier to see. So when I'm waiting outside the couple inside took a long time looking at all the poke. Finally they order and walk outside to wait. I'm looking at the guy who told me to leave and at no time was he attempting to tell me to come inside. I just walked inside myself. This was my second visit to Poke Stop. Today we tried their Surf & Turf, which is kalbi with garlic shrimp, and their special, ribeye with lobster scampi. We also got an order of chicharones - light, crisp, and tasty!! It is definitely a must try!! Poke Stop has a rather extensive menu with a lot of choices other than poke. The Surf & Turf and the ribeye plates include a big scoop of rice and mac or tossed salad. The kalbi on the surf & turf ($12.95) was tasty though the shrimp was really overcooked. The ribeye and lobster scampi was flavorful and worth it's $18.95 price tag. Soda comes in one size and is refillable and a water cooler is also available. Tables are cafeteria style and offer a decent amount of seating in the small dining area. This restaurant does offer dessert options like cheesecakes which normally I would love to partake in, but a visit to Black Sheep Creamery is already on the schedule lol! When I'm craving poke, this is on the way home, super convenient, and the staff is usually very friendly. And that's kind of where the good stops. They've recently redone their menus, so everything has a bit more of a hipster vibe. Also, the prices for some menu items have gone up. I used to be a fan of the deconstructed sushi bowl, but the price has gone up for this item and I no longer feel like the price justifies what you get. Most recently I've been ordering the garlic or regular ahi poke bowls, especially since I've been tracking my macros. Guys, if you're trying to track your eating, raw ahi is low carb, low fat, and super duper high in protein. It's a fit person's dream food. Some days I'll order a half pound of poke and just eat that without rice, or take it home and eat it with a small amount of rice that I've made at home. Please look carefully at the case before selecting your poke. Especially look carefully at the creamy options, since the sauce masks the color of the fish. You can tell just by looking into the case that some of the fish is a bit on the older side and is not so fresh. It's not rotten by any means, but it's not that fresh vibrant color, either. I can usually pick out at least one or two pretty good-looking options on my visits. I can kind of understand the older fish thing, especially since I usually get there a bit closer to closing time, but that doesn't mean that it's okay. I think that by tracking purchases and popularity of certain items, you can come up with a better schedule for making poke that will fit your customers' needs and will help you to not serve older fish, and toss less product. And yes, easier said than done. But when your business is poke, it's so necessary. Fresh is best. Sometimes I swear even the commissary has better tasting poke, because the fish is more fresh. read more

I ordered the Executive plate, with Kalbi , poke, potato salad , rice, shrimp and fish. Surf and turf. Starting with the potato salad . Now most potato salads are made with mayonnaise and some with mayonnaise and some vinegar . Theirs had vinegar, which I didn't mind , real change from the norm. Kalbi was under cooked and chewy, shrimp was salty (wow), fish - meh. Rice is rice and the poke is so so. The poke would be better if packed separately it would have been good. But it was inside my plate sitting on top of the hot rice and meats so you could see that the fish began to cook, know what I mean? Called once with no answer, second time I was asked to hold...sure, I understand it being busy. Was left on hold for 10 mins before I just hung up and called back, and was helped right away. Poke is delicious and one of a kind. When you find that perfect spot to enjoy it- it's true love. First of all this place could be a complete dump and I would still return because it is THAT good. However, the restaurant was super tidy & the staff was definitely friendly. Right when you open the door you're greeted by all of the employees- even the cooks in the back. Followed by a giant legible menu in chalk. I ordered something super simple, seared ahi with white rice. It was phenomenal. I had been craving poke for over a week & FINALLY went to the closest place on my map and boom, match made in heaven. After ordering it, it took less than 5 min to come out and they hand delivered it. The seating arrangement is cafeteria style, but it seems as if everyone orders it to go so seating shouldn't be an issue. Love, love. I'll probably be returning at least once a week. read more

Poke is fresh and had good flavor. I ordered the sesame ahi and spicy tuna combo. My friend ordered the limu poke and spicy tuna. The kids shared the hamburger with furikake tater tots. The kids are used to plain burgers, so this gourmet burger didn't impress them. Haha. We tasted it and it was pretty tough, but realized they added lots of rosemary in their patty. I didn't care for it either, so I don't blame the kids for only eating the tater tots. Stopped here on a whim. Once we walked in, we were greeted with open arms. Very friendly and funny. The menu is extensive and everything looks delicious. Ordered the Tatiana. Went to Poke Stop to meet a dear friend for lunch. Was surprised that the credit card tab had a 'tips/gratuity" section added onto it...like it was a sin not to tip for ordering and counter service...what the heck...? I didn't need the additional pressure of feeling like crap because I didn't tip for counter service!! If someone actually came out and served us, a tip is in order. If I order from a counter, get my own drinks from a fountain and go to the counter to get my food, I shouldn't be made to feel guilty to provide a tip. My friend got a cold salad ready-to-go from the front counter and I waited over 20 minutes for my Tofu Portabello Pesto Mushroom Sandwich (approx. $9.00). That was OK it took a long time, at least I got to catch up on conversations with my friend, but if I were on a lunch break, I'd be very unhappy. The sandwich was sopping and greasy with Pesto, which soaked right through the bun. The Portabello mushroom was decent but when I lifted up the bun there were three, tiny, flat pieces of flattened tofu. Poke Stop should take out "tofu" in the description of the sandwich. Eggplant fries on the side were good, hot and greasy but not something I'd come back to destroy my stomach lining over. Don't think I'd make this my next "Stop" anytime soon. read more

It's just great to know that if wanted some fresh poke and good seafood, i can just go right down the hill in Mililani and grab a bite to eat at The Poke Stop. The Poke Stop in Mililani is the second one that opened with the first location being in Waipahu. Owner/Chef Elmer Guzman has taught his staff real well as they greet everyone who enters the door. So here's a liitle info on this place for my fellow foodies.. PARKING: Lot's of parking here in the area. If there is no parking in the stalls where it's located, you can park on the right side of McDonald's. ATMOSPHERE: Not much atmosphere here as there only a few tables in the shop, There is also a T.V in the place as well. FOOD: The draw here in this place is the poke, but there are entrees,salads, and specials as well. They even have desserts... THE CREAMY AHI POKE: In my eyes, this is their signature poke here. The creamy texture of the Ahi and the smokiness and crunch takes this poke to another level. A must try.. THE DECONSTUCTED SUSHI BOWL: This is one of my favorite dishes here: You get Blackened Ahi, Creamy Ahi Poke, Tako Poke, and Grilled Shrimp om a bed of Sushi Rice with Furikake. I love how everything tastes when you eat it but the only knock on this dish is that the shrimp is not taken out of the shell and peeling the shrimp with the head on can be a bit messy. Don't get me wrong, i love sucking the miso out of the head, but the shells just seem to stick on the shrimp like crazy glue. None the less, a great dish for me. CRISPY WHOLE MOI: This is usually on their special board. But if you see it, give it a try. You can't go wrong with fish as it just seasoned with some spices and deepfried. I must warn you though, this is not a boneless fish. But eating this fish is just something i was used to eating, like eating fried akule. Now Moi, or Bowfin Threadfish, was once a fish that could only be eaten by royalty during the King Kamehameha days. And this fish was very hard to come by before because it was a reef fish but now is more plentiful because of Aquaculture. Moi is a very thin fish but very,very tasty. They sell one whole piece of Moi here for $12.95, or two pieces for $16.95, and it comes with White or Brown Rice and a Salad with Oil and Balsamic Vinegar. A great dish which won't break the bank. OVERALL: All in all, The Poke Stop is a friendly atmosphere with a very cordial staff. The Poke is good here but just a little too pricey for me. The Creamy Ahi Poke you must try though and the entrees are not bad as well. I am hoping this place sticks around, because everytime i come here, the place is always empty. I hope when Longs Drugs opens up in the near future here, that there will be more foot traffic so many people could enjoy what Chef Elmer has to offer. Just a tad disappointed... Looked at all the pictures on Yelp to help me decide what to eat. I decided on the Executive Chef plate that has Kalbi, garlic shrimp, catch of the day and poke. The pictures show a good size kalbi and head on shrimp. Instead I got a chimpsky kalbi and 5 small pieces of shrimp. All for $14.95... On the up side, customer service was great... Aloha, WOW = West Oahu Wine - Chef Elmer & Som Danny paired it up again with the Black Pinot Menu. What can I say, ah if only I lived closer, I'd be here for these fabulous wine dinners every week. Best dinner I've had here and I really like it here - coming often when I worked in Mililani & again passing through to the NS it's our stop. We started off with bacon flavored waffles with shrimp, oh so ono, next puff pastry seafood bisque (chefs version of a potpie), wow out of this world - I'm full but still keep going to the duck, so beautifully presented, I'm so impressed as it melts into my mouth - sous vide me anytime. And a special treat of baby malasadas, I could put the whole thing in my mouth. Just writing about it my mouth is watering. We'll be back again & again.
