Good, enjoyed my food, incredibly kind and friendly service. Small parking lot. Cute beach…read moreatmosphere, but TONS of gnats when we were in the front seating by the seashells. So much that four drowned themselves in my water in five minutes of the water being set down and we had to move (they were super understanding and very flexible). Cod was delicious, love the Mediterranean touches. Everything else was about average, but great experience!

Review for The Bayside Restaurant - Westport, MA Sand, suds,…read moreand that sweet, sweet lobstah! Anytime I find myself in Dartmouth, there's one non-negotiable: a pilgrimage to The Bayside. It's not just a restaurant--it's a seaside ritual. A full-on coastal vibe check. By day, this place hums with a tide of locals and sun-kissed visitors, all riding that same salty wavelength. The outside seating? Chef's kiss. Whether you're perched at the surfboard table (yes, really), chilling by the firepit, or posted up at the outdoor bar chillin' in the shade or soaking in the rays (depending on time of day), it always feels like a low-key beach party. Add in that Scooby-Doo-style van hawking t-shirts and tank tops and you've got yourself a beach fiesta postcard . Drink-wise, they're reppin' the South Coast with a rotating lineup of New England brews and a cocktail menu that says "kick off those flip flops and stay a while." The chowder? Clam or seafood--either one is a pregame MVP. Creamy, flavorful, and loaded with sea-kissed goodness. But the main event? That lobstah roll. Oh baby. Warm. Nekked. Buttered. No mayo nonsense (that's how I roll). Just pure, buttery shellfish glory piled high in a toasted split-top roll. Served with fries that actually hold their own--crispy, salty, and impossible to stop picking at even after you "swear you're full." Service stays solid despite the crowd--friendly, laid-back, and on point with the refills and check-ins. They know what they're doing, even when the patio's packed and the orders are flying. The Bayside is a beach town legend. Come for the lobstah roll, stay for the surfboard tables, the sun-soaked vibes, and the kind of carefree energy that makes you wish you lived on a boat. (Or one of them campers along the coast)

We've been searching for a new "oyster bar" since Bristol Oyster House didn't reopen this year, and…read morea friend suggested Westport Sea Farms. It's about a 30-minute drive from Aquidneck Island and well worth the trip. The menu is limited but thoughtfully curated, with an emphasis on exceptionally fresh local seafood. The lobster roll ($27) may be one of the best in the area, and the oysters are outstanding--especially considering they're priced at less than $3 each. Beverage options are extensive, and there's something for just about everyone, including a hot dog for children. The atmosphere is relaxed. There are no reservations, and all seating is outdoors, with roughly ten picnic tables and several high-top tables. The waterfront setting is part of the charm, offering beautiful views and cooling breezes, but even on warm days it's wise to bring a sweater or light jacket. If you go, allow a little extra time for the drive. The roads leading to Westport pass through one of New England's most scenic rural landscapes, with numerous Colonial-era homes, historic farms, and stone walls that provide a glimpse into the region's rich history. The journey is almost as enjoyable as the destination.

Waterfront dining is always my first choice and unfortunately I was not impressed. I wouldn't…read morequalify this spot as a restaurant. More like a dockside self-serve snack/raw bar. I don't appreciate the tip prompt coming up before even sitting or being served (if that's what you want to call it). I ordered the oyster flight figuring they would put their best foot forward to encourage me to order more of the one I like best, but no, the oysters were tiny and nobody told me which was which. They have enough staff to take your order at your table but instead all they do is bring it to your table and never check back. Only canned beer, no draught, which I guess is good so that can't be screwed up. BTW, it could have been colder. To top it all off rest room is a porta potty which was disgusting. I wonder does the staff have to use that as well? Is it a real stretch to make your bathroom available? Or at least keep your porta potty clean and supplied? Needless to say, we won't be back. I'm regretting not checking out the Paquachuck Inn across the parking lot first.
