We returned to New Beige to try their lunch menu. We were able to sit outside and enjoy a sunny fall day. Our waitress was quick to great us and take our orders. I enjoyed the Turkey BLAT and hubby had the fish sandwich. Both were very tasty and we enjoyed thoroughly. We would highly recommend. Please visit and enjoy for yourself.

I am reticent to give this low a rating to any restaurant, especially one that in so many ways is doing things right. The staff was friendly, albeit pretty swamped. The place looks nice and has some great outdoor seating, too. However, despite how tasty my order of calamari (which was piping hot and perfectly crunchy) as well as the scallop platter (which tasted great and was a generous portion), something in one of the dishes made me ill overnight and into today. Maybe I was just unlucky, but forewarned is forearmed.

I think this is one of the greatest additions to downtown new b in the last decade! This shop is so freaking cute and has so much to offer. It has grab and go items, an amazing menu, a top notch cocktails list, amazing specials, special events, gorgeous ambiance and a next level staff. I love going for a meal and catching up or for dessert and cocktails. This spot it a must try!

We stopped in here this afternoon for a quick bite to eat and it was amazing 10 out of 10. Our server Shawndi was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu items. She offered us a taste of the new beige clam chowder and it was out of this world. We also started with the hummus plate, which was unbelievable. The soft fresh naan bread was delicious and the hummus and vegetables were so fresh. We split a turkey avocado BLT on Texas toast with homemade sweet potato chips and it was delicious. They had a lot of offerings that looked and smelled wonderful. We just didn't have enough room in our bellies for anymore. I highly recommend 10 out of 10. The ambience was great. It was decorated for Halloween and had a really cool vibe.

There's a new gem in town adorably named New Beige. For those of you non locals that is the affectionate nick name for the old whaling city New Bedford. As soon as you walk thru the door you get the quaint feeling of Portuguese charm. We were greeted immediately and seated at once. I was delighted to see some traditional Portuguese entrees as well American favorites. We opted for the Grilled salmon and bolognese which were 2 dishes highly recommended by our gregarious server Francesca. Oh yeah we split a Chicken Mozambique empanada which was fabulous. We even saved room to split a warm white chocolate bread pudding topped with vanilla ice cream. OMG they hit every dish out of the park. There is no doubt this will become an immediate favorite!!

Food tasted microwaved for the price. The staff was very nice and friendly. I felt the food was overpriced and didn't taste fresh.

We made the rookie mistake of showing up without a reservation on a Tuesday night, and the restaurant was packed. The hostess, who was in training, handled the situation with such poise. She was warm, thoughtful, and transparent about the 45-minute wait, which we genuinely appreciated. What really set the tone, though, was Will. I later learned he was one of the owners, but you never would have guessed it. He wasn't standing back overseeing the dining room; instead, he was in it, working just as hard as everyone else. He welcomed us personally, empathized, and even offered us a cocktail while we waited. As we sat nearby, we watched him gently coach the hostess in training. There was humor, kindness, and encouragement, balanced with clear expectations: simple reminders like making sure every guest is greeted the moment they walk through the door. It was leadership by example. He carried himself with humility, intention, and a work ethic that he clearly models for his entire team. Watching those interactions made me appreciate the restaurant even before we sat down to eat. By the end of the meal, the wait didn't matter one bit. In fact, after experiencing both the hospitality and the food, we completely understood why the restaurant was full on a Tuesday night. The service was exceptional. I'll update this review once I remember our server's name because she absolutely deserves recognition. She was attentive, incredibly hardworking, and gracefully managed not only our table but the many families with children around us. The manager also stopped by to check on us, and it felt entirely sincere. The model started at the top and was clearly part of their ethos. They were so generous which is why we recommend this spot to anyone visiting the area! The food was every bit as impressive as the service. The shrimp cocktail featured some of the largest, freshest shrimp I've had in years--perfectly chilled and absolutely delicious. The oysters were impeccably fresh and beautifully presented. Every dish reinforced why New England seafood has the reputation it does. Great restaurants serve great food. Exceptional restaurants create a culture that guests can actually feel. This place does both. We'll absolutely be back--and next time, we'll be smart enough to make a reservation.

Our dinner was a triumph of flavors, starting with wonderful hush puppies infused with crab meat and a truly excellent clam chowder. My wife's fried fish was perfectly cooked and complemented by wonderful-tasting onion rings. You absolutely *must* try their Lobster Rolls - they're a signature dish for a reason! Located right on the pier by the big boats, this spot offers not just great food but also a palpable connection to New Bedford's rich maritime past, a city that once stood as the whaling capital of the world. The atmosphere here is an absolute highlight, earning a perfect 10/10 with its fun red-checkered floors and red tables, big yellow umbrellas, and the energetic bustle of the working waterfront. While the service, rated 7/10, was adequate, the overall experience more than compensates. Parking is easy to find, though be prepared for a 30-minute wait, which is a testament to its popularity. This establishment caters to adults, as there are no provisions for children or highchairs. I will be back!
