fair wage charge
Mia D.

Sigh..... This is going to be a difficult one. Located in South Dartmouth this quaint little restaurant is nestled away a street over from the water. Great atmosphere. Although very small and tables very close. Our waitress shimmied between our table and the table on the side of us to take their order. She was so close my husband and I just stared at each other to not look at her backside almost nestled on our table. Yikes. Menu is EXTREMELY small--- four entree choices. I ordered a Martini--- no grey goose--- no Tito's--- only Bully Boy?!?!? What the heck is that? ok how about some blue cheese stuffed olives? Nope---Only plain olives So for my 4oz $18 "Bully" Boy martini I sort felt I was the one being "Bully-ied" The food was delicious. Great presentation and flavor. Small portions for the price. The check came to the table next to us--- and since they were almost sitting on our lap they asked what is Fair Wage Charge? The credit card slip had a place for gratuity so we weren't sure what this charge was for? We learned it was sort of like an imposed for pooled tip... but also included kitchen staff. I didn't notice anything notifying the customer of this charge which just left a bad taste in my mouth despite the food being so tasty. It is always best to be transparent about untraditional charges. My advice--- if you go make sure you are not super hungry. Although you can buy bread for $8. Be prepared that alcohol choices are limited. And review the bill to determine extra gratuities in the event they continue a "fair wage charge"

What an adorable place - small cozy vibes with incredible food. Small menu makes for exquisite food. We got oysters, whipped ricotta, spicy sausage pasta and papardelle. Everything was amazing. We will be back!

We had an amazing meal here the other night. Sea bass was exceptional and the cucumber and beat salad was perfect! Highly recommend the soft serve ice cream for dessert.

Great atmosphere!

This was our first time and definitely not our last! Atmosphere is great, awesome spot to watch a game. Drink prices are reasonable and service and food outstanding! Will be back soon.

Strawberry daiquiri, salted caramel pot de crème, espresso martini and chocolate cake.

Great service, wonderful ambiance and amazing food. Also be sure to save room for dessert!

Charming restaurant with exceptional food! Wonderful wine list too. Coppa and scallops were delicious and the olives...oh my goodness. Leave room for "not to miss desserts". Thank you Lisa and John!

Super friendly staff, able to accommodate guests. Came in for my girlfriend's birthday as a reservation. Each got the Hugo No.5, light refreshing exactly what we wanted for a hot summer day. Started with the focaccia, fresh fluffy some crisp and they had some olive oil to dip. Loved my duck cooked exactly how I wanted, presentation was stunning. The steak frites were delicious from the steak to the sauce to the fries, definitely the most bang for your buck. Got the churros forn dessert and since it was her birthday they actually had a little sparkler with it and took a Polaroid pic and gave it to us. Such a cute little touch and definitely a great memory. Was it a little expensive yes, but for the quality of what you get I'd do again gladly.

Their cocktail menu has a lot of fun options. I had the Caesar salad and added shrimp. For desert we had a scoop of the passionfruit guava sorbet and the night agent cocktail. Our sever put a sparkler in our gelato, gifted us two glasses of champagne and gave us a Polaroid picture of us. What a nice touch! A very cozy local restaurant with beautiful decor and great vibes. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. This was the perfect close to our mini honeymoon!

I was expecting it to be a dive (I do love a good dive bar!), but Stingy Alley is beautiful and classy, with an amazing cocktail menu and small bites as well. I loved the dark wood decor, the low lighting throughout the establishment, and the accent lights at the bar are so pretty. There are many different types of seating - bar, high top tables, benches, regular tables, and a cute and comfy corner booth with throw pillows, which is where we opted to sit. Service was excellent. I was expecting to have to order at the bar, but Stingy Alley has table service. My husband ordered the espresso martini and I went with the Dubai chocolate martini. Both were outstanding - I could easily have tried a few more of the dessert cocktails, but alas we had a 40 minute drive home so that will have to wait for another visit. Will definitely come back to Stingy Alley - thanks for a lovely end to our night!

After reading months of mixed reviews of Pine House Kitchen & Bar, my friend and I decided to give…read moreit a try. We walked in just after 8 on a Friday night and were greeted by two very friendly young women at the host stand. We opted to sit at a high top table in the lively bar area. Every seat at the bar was taken. Our server was friendly and attentive, and brought our drinks, $8 for a Sam Adams seasonal draft, and $15 for a Bulleit Bourbon Old Fashioned cocktail (which was mixed well and nicely presented, sans the anticipated Luxardo cherry). My friend ordered the Fondue Burger with truffle fries. The burger was cooked perfectly (medium) and smothered with a delicious cheese sauce sprinkled with fresh bacon crumbles - decadent and delicious. The fries are thin and crispy (the best way) and served in one of those cute little metal baskets with just the right amount of truffle. I had the salmon rice bowl which was better than I expected it to be. The fish was fresh and cooked nicely, (medium, although it could have been taken off heat a minute or two earlier, but not what I consider 'overcooked' by any means), and sat atop some very delicious coconut jasmine rice. The bowl also had a heap of zingy red onions, thinly sliced perfectly ripe avocado, a yummy mango salsa, and was drizzled with a very nice cilantro crema. Perfection. I ate the whole thing, felt a bit overstuffed and unable to taste the burger (next time!) I am very happy to report that Pine House Kitchen & Bar got four thumbs up from us, and I look forward to visiting again with family and friends.

The parking lot was packed, but it wasn't very busy inside. It was a lot smaller than I thought. There was a dining room room to the right when you walked in with a few table tables, and then a larger bar area with tables around that. We were seated in the bar area. Inside was really nice. I really liked all of the wood finish inside and how it was decorated. I had the crispy coop, which was a fried chicken sandwich dipped in hot wings sauce with Gorgonzola and coleslaw. The chicken was really good, very tender. It had just enough spice. I ordered truffle fries on the side and they were unbelievably good! I ordered a special winter cocktail with tequila and apple cider that was really good. It was a decent size drink too for the price. My wife had the fish and chips and said it was really good. She ordered plain fries as all of the meals come with herb fries automatically. My friend had a burger and actually complained because it was too salty. They were kind enough to take half off of her meal. Our waiter was excellent. He was super attentive and we were never without a drink. We will definitely be going back here and trying other stuff.

We started with the calamari with spicy peppers and salsa rossa, which was delicious, well seasoned and very generous in portion. For entrées, the scallops with risotto were outstanding. The Chicken Bosco and Chicken Francaise were both amazing: tender, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The zuppa toscana was flavorful but arrived a bit cold, which affected the texture. (Not necessarily their fault) but it paired well with the complimentary rosemary bread. It was so soft and easily the highlight of the meal, though the butter was quite salty. The chicken Milanese was cooked well, and the arugula and tomatoes were fresh, but the sweet, Italian dressing adjacent sauce didn't work for me. My fiancé ordered the pizza which was also just okay. We topped it with balsamic drizzle which elevated it. Overall, I wasn't very impressed and will likely stick to my usual spots, like Ma Raffa's, for Italian. They also forgot the silverware I requested, which wasn't a big deal but worth mentioning. All in all, I'm sure there are better things to order from here, but I wasn't wowed by anything I tried.
