If you ask me where I go to get poke, I will say Pokenoya! I LOVE this place for many reasons. All of their ingredients taste so incredibly fresh. I think that their sizes and pricing is pretty reasonable. With the regular, you get 3 fishes and with the large, you get 5. I usually get shrimp, spicy tuna, and salmon and get the spicy mayo and medium sauce. I will usually get all of the toppings but there are so many to pick and choose from. I love that they give you avocado as part of the toppings too. It's so popular because it's perfectly surrounded by many businesses and buildings so the lunch rush is very real. Plenty of parking in their lot. Tip: you can also order online or make a phone order and pick it up when you get there if you're short on time. Overall, just really really solid and delicious poke bowls, friendly and very sweet staff, and just a delicious meal! Continuing on with my search for the best poke bowl in town... today's Yelp search took me to Pokenoya that had 4-1/2 stars. I hate to bring the stars down, but I was not feelin' all those stars. Although they are located in a business area, it's really not too hard to find if you Waze it. Bonus points for opening at 10:00 am! I had a busy day and was looking for a place that opened before 11:00 am, and voila! I arrived around 10:15 am, and there was only 1 other customer inside. There were 2 servers behind the counter, and the guy that made my poke bowl was very friendly. The place itself is very small with only a few tables inside. The set up is like every other poke place in town - create your own bowl by telling the server what you want, and do the hoki poki! All of their ingredients are similar to what you'll find anywhere else. The fish was just as fresh as any other poke place that I've been to (and I've been to many). There were no special ingredients (toppings) that were different from the usuals, with the exception of their homemade habanero/miso sauce, which was good, but nothing that would make me want to come back. Also, they lacked the "crunchy" topping offerings. There was only one available - crunchy fried onions. The overall price was equivalent to all of the other poke places. I would not return unless I was in the area and there was no other poke place around. It wasn't bad - there was just nothing special about it, and the overall taste was rather bland. read more

For my protein options I chose ginger shrimp (there was no taste of ginger at all and definitely NOT fresh), scallops (just meh and one scoop probably gave me 4 tiny pieces), and spicy salmon (can't tell if it was fresh or not since the spice was mixed in). The topping options were basic and common as most poke places get- edamame, green onions, corn, masago, imitation crab, etc). Location and storefront- conveniently located for my work. Best Poke I've had in Irvine. Been coming here since my sophomore year of high school and it hasn't disappointed me yet. It's located in a strange spot at a business complex and the shop is quite small but cozy. Service is always on point as well as the quality of the poke and its ingredients. Simple and efficient layout for ordering by choosing rice, protein, sauces with varying spice levels, and additional greens and toppings. I usually just get the brown rice, regular tuna, salmon, spicy tuna (you can get spicy salmon/tuna as well if you want the bowl a bit spicier), wakame salad, crab meat, cucumber, medium level sauce, and avocado. This is a typical poke place, you get a small or large bowl with a variety of fish and sides to compliment the poke bowl. Service is fast and you can get your receipt sent to your e-mail. I've driven through technology drive on my way to work for 3 years, I noticed this spot last year and always planned to check it out and today was the day and I'm glad I did. It is hidden away in a business complex and only really open for lunch or early dinner but the regular bowl was huge and you get three choices of fish with it plus many other options. Flavor of the house special sauce medium spicy was good though. The second bowl was fine but recommend you ask for light mayo, else the bowl is drenched with it. The bubble tea drink taste was pretty good but the boba was incredibly hard. Overall, wouldn't recommend unless you were there to make sure you get all the toppings and protein. These reviews were so misleading, I was very excited to grab a bowl of poke on my lunch. As I was ordering the guy behind me asked" is the fish still frozen, last time I came it was still frozen." When I opened it there was little to no rice in my bowl, and as the guy stated my salmon was half thawed out. I don't like to leave bad reviews but something has to change. Bowls were priced at $9.50 for 3 scoops of proteins (regular) and $12.95 for 5 scoops (large). Artificial crab, avocado and seaweed salad are included. At most poke places, you usually have to pay extra for one of those. Both the wife and I got a large bowl. We were given a good amount of fish and it tasted fresh. I opted for no sauce, but there are a few sauces to choose from with varying spiciness levels. We also ordered a Pink Sunset drink ($4.25) to share. It was appropriately fruity but a bit too sweet. I'd say skip the drink and just go for the poke. Seating is limited to just a couple tables outside, but we hijacked a table in the business complex across the street. When we were following the navigation we thought we were lost. However, it took us right there. They have a few tables outside and a very tiny inside area, it is nothing extravagant by any means. Their menu mostly consists of 3 different sizes of poke bowls. You can build your own or they have a few specialized ones that you can order. They also have some unique toppings and sauces that I have not seen at other poke places. The price is a little steep but all of the toppings are included in the price including avocado which most places upcharge for. The small bowl had 3 scoops of fish and it was very filling. iI was not hungry for dinner that night. I still felt like 17.99 for a small poke bowl was a lot. I've eaten at at least a half dozen poke bowl places, and this place is definitely my favorite. The quality of fish here is noticeably better than other places I've been to. I'm used to seeing neon, buffet quality tuna at poke bowl joints, but that is not the case here (which isn't to say the tuna is great quality, but that's to be expected at this price point). There's a nice assortment of toppings. I get everything except the white onion, ginger, and occasionally I'll pass on the jalapeños. As I've seen in a few other reviews, sometimes, they use a bit too much sauce and it oozes to the bottom of the bowl, but they haven't used so much to annoy me. The only downside to this place is that since they're located amongst a bunch of business buildings that are not for the general public, their business hours reflect it (mon-fri 10-5). read more

A good poke place in a very hidden corporate plaza. While on technology dr. if you see a sign that says Spectrum Technology Center, you should be able to see this place. I'm sure during peak corporate lunch hours this place must be packed. Luckily I don't eat during those hours so I always miss the madness. It's a small store with a little room where you can sit. They also have some outside seating. You can build your bowl, here. It's pretty straight forward as they help walk you through the steps. I got a regular sized bowl with spicy tuna and regular tuna over brown rice. It was delicious!! Very fresh fish and all the topping went pretty well with it. Quality: the quality of fish and add ons are pretty decent. The spice levels are still not spicy enough for me and i get the highest level as well as the extra jack on fire. It seems that to make it more spicy they just add more sauce, but it soaks into the rice and makes everything a little too wet. Overall it is pretty good still. Cleanliness: the store is a small hole in the wall in a business center complex, but it is pretty clean. There is inside and outside seating if you choose to have lunch there. The staff wear gloves and swap them out which is very good. Overall my experience here so far has been pretty good the times i have ate. I love poke so it is convenient for me to go here rather than bay poke at the spectrum. The portions are pretty big as well just for a regular size. This is our favorite poke place! It's hard for us to find the perfect place because one of us doesn't like raw fish & so we love that there's tamago, popcorn shrimp, and garlic shrimp here! Pokenoya is located in a business complex - and I almost missed the turn because I didn't know a restaurant could be located in this area. I ordered food togo at around 1pm. There were a few people outside and inside. I was quickly served and got my food within 3 minutes. The service was fast, quick, and easy, and the place is definitely welcoming. The bowl of poke was $10.26 which is around the average price of a regular poke bowl. I was definitely satisfied with the taste of it, and I recommend their wasabi sauce they have. My overall experience was great. This place is located near my work so it's convenient for me to go to, and when I'm craving poke, I'll definitely come back here again! read more

Our company has been ordering lunch for the office every day.. sad to say that the Pokenoya experience as a whole has been sub par. It's not 100% off..The poke itself is excellent.. it's the portion of that fish you're paying big bucks for that doesn't make it to your desk when you order through a delivery service like grub hub.. that has led me to this review. I'm a big tuna head- AKA i love fish. AKA I know how much fish I SHOULD BE for as much I'm paying for it. Pokenoya has been shorting me on my 4 (fish tuna) bowls pretty consistently, while ordering online. It's really unfortunate that you can't expect the same amount of fish that you'd get from this location in-person, that you would when ordering online. I would expect a business to try and protect itself from a situation like this by actually providing MORE than u pay for.. but it's happened over 5 times now that the raw fish within my bowls has been significantly less than one would expect.
