The tiny scoops of tiny pieces of fish doesn't do it for me. :( I finished the bowl in 5 minutes (skipped breakfast) and was still hungry. There were a few mistakes: the girl behind the counter dumped my fish into my friend's bowl, leaving me with a lone scoop of spicy tuna. Even with the extra fish we got, I was still hungry. Second mistake was that the cashier gave me a TEN CENT discount rather a TEN PERCENT discount. They looked like old, bad quality fish. The salmon looked dull, not shiny, kinda brown, like those dyed orange/pink type of salmon instead of fresh salmon. However, since I was already there and had been craving poke for a while, I decided to just order my usual salmon poke bowl and give it a try. I regret ordering and not leaving the store. The salmon tastes super fishy and does not have a creamy texture at all. It seems like old frozen salmon that was just thawed or something the morning of. Small - $7.99 - 2 scoops - Perfect for 1 person, but you would be really full after. Medium - $8.99 - 3 scoop - Huge, I had enough for another full meal. Shrimp - One of the few cooked items they have on the menu. Octopus being the other. Salmon, Scallop, and Yellowtail - Super fresh, just as good as you would get in a sushi restaurant. With the recent trend of Poke. I think this one is solid. The location is in the middle of the plaza with LA fitness --Specifically, to the right of Starbucks. Huge Parking Lot and right around the corner to everything in Arcadia (Example: Westfield mall, Race Track, AU tea) I think it's perfect after a work out as a healthy meal after the gym. Of course, healthy is relative to the sauce you want in your bowl. I thought the fish was fresh. I got 3 scoops (medium) for $10.38 with tax. I just had 2 scoops of salmon and one scoop of tuna. Complemented with white rice, seaweed salad, cucumber and fried scallions. I asked for more seaweed salad, but it would have been another $1.50. Which I thought is crazy, since other Poke places don't charge extra for vegetables (Example Spinfish Poke House in Old Pasadena --who PACKS your bowl with food) Portion wise, I wasn't exactly full (I'm trying to gain weight) but I guess it's acceptable. I felt the spicy mayo was a little lackluster, but maybe I would have fared well with Miso. Staff was okay. The interior isn't too spacious, but has enough tables. I'm glad they finally opened a poke place in Arcadia! I don't have to drive so far to satisfy my poke cravings. The set up of the restaurant is very similar to Pokinometry in Anaheim. First you choose the size bowl and type of rice: white, brown, or half and half. I got the medium (3 toppings) with yellowtail, salmon, and tuna with white rice. The fish quality is fresh, and they give a very generous portion of it too! Then you choose your sauce. According to yelp, dynamite is a to try flavor. And i have to agree with them! There's a hint of spicyness, so if you can't handle spicy, i would recommend getting something else. Next, you choose the toppings. It is unlimited toppings. The choices are seaweed, cucumber, green peas, green onions, white onions, guacamole, ginger and wasabi. Some places charge extra for guac, but not poke bar! I loved how they offered crab meat, seaweed salad, and avocado without any extra charge! But if you wanted an additional scoop of them, it would be $1 extra. I decided to get a large ($10.99 for 5 scoops) since they were giving 50% off. I got the large with all white rice, 2 scoops of salmon, 2 scoops of scallops, and of shrimp. I was originally a loyal customer to Pokelicious in Temple City, but after my last visit was ruined by poor customer service and the portion sizes also visibly diminished, I started the hunt for a new regular poke place. My friend recommended Poke Bar and I have to say, I'm a huge fan! I've actually been here 4-5 times now over the last 2 months since first trying it. Customer service is always great and the staff are well trained. Their portion sizes are HUGE. I appreciate that they don't have to weigh their fish to an exact amount when they scoop it for you, which Pokelicious does (they also remove fish from your scoop if it's over the weight amount which is so awkward to watch). I also like that they cut their fish into bigger chunks so you can actually taste your fish when you mix everything up. All the fish and sides are always incredibly fresh and they have a large selection as well. Overall, I highly recommend Poke Bar for all your poke cravings.
