We were just at Poki Poki the other day and I saw an advertisement for a chicken teriyaki bowl, which looked really good so I figured I would stop in and grab it today. The staff there is very helpful and friendly. I got a small build a bowl with shrimp ceviche, kimchi, cabbage, roasted red pepper, and jalapeño sauce as like a salad dressing. I decided to change it up and get the crispy salmon strips.. couple problems with the appetizer number one they use the same sweet-and-sour sauce to use for the chicken dumplings and I thought they originally used a different sauce but anyways it didn't go and they tasted just a little too fishy for my liking. As for the chicken teriyaki bowl, there is a good amount of rice and veggies. The chicken was a bit dry and I next time get extra teriyaki sauce.. I'm sorry about the same. Excellent service; these employees love working there. Having been to Hawaii many times, the major ingredient in poke is seafood, not, chips, seaweed, avocado, salad, rice, and the 51flavors. So I like how unique this restaurant is, but 5 oz of seafood for the ultimate is not worthy of 5 stars. For $23.00 in Hawaii, I'd be fully loaded with way more seafood. Alright! It's about time I review Poke Poke! First off I've been coming to this restaurant since it originated near the university area.... Years and years and years, I'm a fan. Now I bought a house less than a mile from this location on Comanche and Wyoming. We come here a few times a month, always order the same thing because that's my jam. After visiting Hawaii, I can't get enough raw salmon and tuna! Make me a poke bowl and you'll have yourself a new regular. If you're not feeling poke, or raw fish, they offer tacos and taco bowls which is great, because there's always that one friend that won't do sushi . I've never tried the taco bowls, but let's be real, they are probably amazing. There's a little bar area where you can snag a local beer, OR they have a bombtastic tiki lounge part of the restaurant that'll make you a tiki drink.... THESE DRINKS ARE GREAT! This is definitely a down to earth place if you want to hang out with friends and family or just want to go study with the vibe of still feeling social. They have seating downstairs and upstairs. The menu is very extensive and you can also built your own. They have many options for desserts and we got the Oreo cheesecake and it did not disappoint! The staff was super friendly and helpful with the menu. The food was delicious and prepared or cooked to perfection depending with the dish we ordered. I have to say I finished my entire bowl and I usually have left overs but it was too good to take left overs home! Definitely will be returning again with a much bigger appetite! One of my favorite lunch pick ups, Poki Poki is always a quick and fresh lunch option relatively close to my house. I always do a build your own bowl and have for years. Kind of figured out what my personal preferences with lots of trial and error. I usually do a large bowl so I can make it into two meals but it definitely needs to be a lunch and dinner same day kind of thing. I go for the white rice base, and then a variety of meat offerings, including shrimp and salmon. You can actually request that they do a specific amount of each meet. So for a large bowl you get 5 ounces and you can request one of shrimp two of salmon and two of tuna for example. And then always request for extra sauce on the rice just because I like it saucy. I do crab meat and edamame as my toppings. Then I also add cucumber, masago, and seaweed as well. Sometimes the top it off with a little spicy mayo, but again they have so many offerings and you can customize it just about however you want. They also have a dessert offering which includes some really yummy cheesecakes, and other items. I haven't gone to sit and hang out in a really long time but they've added a lot to the space over the last couple years. I believe they also do alcoholic beverages and such. I will know the prices have gone up over the years, but I understand your food is really expensive especially here in New Mexico. read more

Poki poki Cevicheria is the best place for poke bowls in all of Albuquerque. The environment feels super modern and artsy. I also love the option to get the Sweet Cup along with your order at Poki Poki at the location on Wyoming and Comanche. The service is always nice, they do what they need to do but that's about it. They're always nice but I've never felt like they've necessarily gone above and beyond. The bowls are a little bit expensive, and it's interesting that the company expects customers to tip on top of increasing prices, when the employees aren't really serving. I love the bar here. It is an excellent tiki bar with great drinks and ambiance. The problem is the service, it's been twice now that I have been rushed out by the server. The first time, they wanted to close over an hour early, fine. But why be rude about it and make me feel rushed? There's no need. Not a good time for restaurants... We have always enjoyed this place. Went in Saturday evening, first time in several months, a disaster. Short staffed, long, slow-moving lines to get food. When we finally got up to the counter we ordered hot food from the kitchen. A Gentleman with a little girl was stuck at one spot for an extended period of time.The line didn't move. No one advised us to go ahead and move up to the, long unoccupied, register to pay. By the time we did get to the register, our food was up and ready to go in the window... Not sure how long it had been up there. Nobody offered us anything to drink. We sat at the front bar (unmanned) because there were no tables available in the back where there WAS a bartender and there were not three seats together for my friends s and I to sit at that bar. Though we enjoyed each other we did not enjoy being in this venue. Additionally, This was the last place I used my card. I realized it was missing yesterday. I called today and the manager that I spoke with was curt, too busy to help. Said she would check when she had time and call me back. She never did. There is just nothing going on here that suggests these people value their customers. Feels like they're hanging by a thread just trying to get people through the line. Food is always delicious but service needs improvement. Not sure what is going on with the front bar. It looks shut down. Why? Maybe lack of employees who can serve drinks. We like sitting there with the windows open in the spring and summer. Employees need more training on how to prepare food and to deviate from menu items. They get stuck when you replace tofu and pineapple for fish on a salad. They are trying, but it seems like there are always a ton of people behind the food bar that seem to confuse things and slow food prep down. This is a decent poké (poki) spot if you are wanting this here in Albuquerque. The ingredients are fairly fresh and tasty. The reason I give it only 3 stars is for the following: For the price of the bowl ($13 + tax/tip), you would expect more fish than they give you (they say 3 ounces but it's definitely less). The rice is not fresh. I had fairly stale rice that wasn't the common rice used in these bowls. When you ask for "wasabi" they put an unbearable amount in the bowl. Almost 1/5 of the bowl was just wasabi. Overall it's pretty good. Skip the wasabi for sure! read more
