    Eel and avocado roll
    Mia M.

How I love Tamashi! I believe it to be the most high quality sushi with the best variety in abq. I ALWAYS order the crispy rice with spicy tuna (red rock), and a fresh roll. Their eel is super tasty and has the perfect texture. I had only had their salmon on fire from takeout- but having it in restaurant is quite the experience. They bring it to you completely flamed up, it's a bit scary but thrilling. I haven't had a bad meal/ roll from this place. I need to expand my horizons to new dishes!

It seems to be hard to find a good japanese spot in ABQ. Tamashi so far seems to be a pretty good spot. We had the hamachi kama, tonkatsu curry, sashimi salmon with roe (forgot what it was really called), and a bento box with black cod miso, tempura and 3 piece of california roll. The hamachi kama was tender and tasty. Would have been nice if it was served with a slice of lemon but we took it from the salmon sashimi dish. Didn't taste the sashimi salmon but it was a pretty presentation and it came with tempura so it looked like a hearty dish. The bento box with the miso black cod was not a huge amount of food, but it was enough! Enjoyed the cod, tempura (wow! a mushroom!) and the california roll. The most disappointing dish was the curry tonkatsu. Although it looked like a large piece of pork, it was pounded thinly and was dry. Needed to add a lot of curry sauce to balance out the dryness. They were busy but the server was thoughtful and trying his best. Nice spot that doesn't feel like a hole in the wall. Why only 3 stars? It's a decent place but it didn't knock my socks off. Overall, it was a decent spot. Probably one of the better japanese places in ABQ.

My go to sushi spot! Amazing quality fish, delicious and unique rolls and great service. The food is always fast and fresh. Convenient location but it does feel a little cramped in there with how busy they get! Sex in the city roll is my all time favorite here! Pic in review

Tamashi on Holly is a great sushi place. Party of 6 with a reservation at 6:00pm and seated right away. The menu is extensive with sashimi, nigiri, combos, hand rolls, appetizers, Udon, Bento Boxes etc. started with some house Sake and Sapporo beers with appetizers consisting of an Avocado Bomb, Jalapeño Bomb and Edamame. All delicious. An assortment of different rolls including Rainbow and Blow Pop, nigiri and sashimi graced the table as well as one Beef Donburi Bowls. Not on the menu was some Blue Fin Tuna that was outstanding. All in all a great meal. We'll be back.

Rice lager is an A+ must

Did not enjoy this experience. The highlights were the rice lager, which has a very clean finish, and the service. Staff exercised great spatial awareness to navigate the tightly arranged tables. Wait time was reasonable, and the decor was cute. Unfortunately, all low points were food related: * Sesame Street Roll was kinda flavorless (with spicy tuna inside and fresh yellowtail outside, that should not have been the case) * Gangster Roll was his pick, and he didn't want to finish it * Tonkotsu Ramen broth tasted fishy, not like the signature rich and savory taste one would expect from an average bone/pork broth... * Husband disliked how much seaweed came with his ramen, but worse was that he experienced the same fishy taste with his Spicy Ramen! * Am I an egg snob? Yes, I am, and the yolk of a quality egg is darker than what was served * Noodles were a sticky (albeit not overcooked) block, as if the cooks didn't bother to give the bowl a stir before dishing it out Neither of us finished our ramens, but both beers disappeared. Next time w want sushi, we'll go back to Sushi Hana. Good ramen spot in ABQ: TBD.

Finally Japanese food in Albuquerque ! Lots of specialty items. I'm having sex in the city , Tamashi combination tacos and salad

    Jalapeño bomb
    Kevin M.

The food was great! The service was good but it took so long for the food to come out. The jalapeño bomb appetizer was so tasty! A slight spiciness with a hint of sweetness from the sauce they put on it made for an excellent combination of flavors. The yellow fin was so tasty. The pork dish was what took soooo long. Almost 45 minutes. It was definitely not worth the wait. But the staff was friendly enough to make amends which bumped up the score back to a 4 (originally was going to rate a 3).

Had dinner at Tamashi tonight--great experience! The menu clearly marks gluten-free options, and the staff was super knowledgeable about cross-contamination. The food was absolutely delicious!l

Superb!!! A step above anywhere in town! There is so much that goes into these signature rolls! An artisan at work! Avocado bomb was as described "the bomb!" Next was the takoyaki and it was on the runny side which I love! It's like chicken and dumplings texture but with a sweet dashi taste. Found our spot in town!

Stopped by this spot when visiting Albuquerque for the weekend, and I'm glad we did. It was busy when we arrived around 6pm but we sat at the bar. All the servers were nice and attentive and asked us if we needed anything. The hamachi we ordered was $16, but I think it was worth it since the salmon collar itself was full of flavor. The sushi rolls were great quality and was filling. The restaurant was a bit smaller than expected but made up for it with the service. There were TVs playing in the background that kept us entertained and the sushi chefs were very professional at their work. Very chill vibe throughout the area. I would come back again if I'm ever in town.

Hidden Gem in Nobhill Albuquerque…read more I recently visited the restaurant at Mission Winery and had a great experience from start to finish. To start, I ordered the sangria and the crab & artichoke dip. The sangria was on the sweeter side but not overwhelmingly so, making it easy to enjoy with the appetizer. The dip was delicious, creamy, and packed with flavor, although I honestly couldn't taste much artichoke. It was still a great starter, especially paired with the bread. For dinner, I ordered the red chile fried chicken bites with fries. The chicken was the standout of the meal--crispy, flavorful, and coated in a delicious red chile sauce that had just the right amount of kick. The fries were perfectly cooked and paired well with the ketchup. My friend shared the appetizer with me and ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad, which she enjoyed alongside one of the wine tasting flights. The real surprise of the evening came after dinner. Our host handed us a card with a password to access the speakeasy downstairs. If you visit Mission Winery, don't skip this part. The speakeasy had a completely different atmosphere from the restaurant above and quickly became the highlight of the night. The space feels intimate, sophisticated, and thoughtfully designed, with dark wood accents, comfortable seating, and a stylish lounge vibe. My friend and I both ordered espresso martinis, and they were fantastic. The presentation alone was impressive--the unique glassware was chilled and helped keep the cocktail cold longer, allowing us to enjoy it at a relaxed pace. Between the excellent food, wine, creative cocktails, and the hidden speakeasy experience, Mission Winery offers much more than just a typical dinner out. The restaurant was great, but the speakeasy downstairs is what will have me coming back. Recommendation: Start with dinner upstairs, then ask about the speakeasy password and finish your evening downstairs with an espresso martini. It's one of the coolest date night or girls' night experiences I've found in Albuquerque.

We had a reservation for 11:30am and arrived on time, but ended up waiting outside for about 10 minutes with no staff in sight. We called multiple times for assistance before anyone came out. To make matters worse, the friend who made the reservation was never informed that brunch is held in the private club and not the e restaurant, which caused unnecessary confusion right from the start. Once a waiter finally found us, we were taken to the private club where we were told they only had three brunch menu items available that day. We ordered immediately, along with waters and mimosas. Keep in mind, there were only two tables total--our group of three and another group of seven--so it wasn't busy. Despite that, service was extremely slow. It took 20 minutes just to get our mimosas, and our waters were forgotten and didn't come out until another 10 minutes later. Our food took about 40 minutes, which felt excessive given how few people were there. Even more frustrating, my friends' meals came out about 10 minutes before mine. There's really no reason meals at the same table shouldn't be served together. The food itself was just okay. The only standout was the French toast, which was actually really good--and honestly the only reason this review isn't one star. I also ordered coffee and was told they don't carry creamer, which is surprising for a place offering brunch. Our waitress rarely checked on us throughout the meal, which added to the overall lack of service. Between the confusion, long wait times, and lack of attention, this experience didn't meet expectations. I won't be returning.

Dorothea's is a nice white table cloth restaurant that feels upscale but still homey enough to bring our soon to be 2 yo grandson. We had: Steamed clams 5/5: The clams were prepared, presented and flavored well. There were 2 clams that didn't open so it would have been nice if they just removed them instead of tempting us to pry them open (which would be bad clams) but the other clams were so good we wanted to open them! The sauce was a little too wine-y for me but I can see how some people would enjoy dipping the bread they give you into it. Crab mac and cheese 5/5: Wow. The bechamel sauce was so rich and creamy! Good chunks of crab made this mac and cheese so decadent! Greek salad 4/5: This was fresh and tasty but I was a little surprised by how small the salad was considering all the other dishes have such an amazing price point! It would serve once person well. Lobster pasta 5/5: Nice spicy kick that hits you later. Good chunks of lobster and the pasta was so light! I forgot to ask if it was fresh pasta or not. Maybe a question for our next visit! Niko gyro 5/5: the meat was good but what made it amazing was all those nice shoestring fries on top! The fries also had some kind of spicy pepper on top that gives it the extra kick! We also had the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer. The Brussels were very good. A little sticky because of the sweet glaze that was on it. So be careful if you have false teeth. My steak was ok , it didn't really have a lot of flavor and was a little fatty. My wife's schnitzel was very good tho. The service was top notch and I will definitely be going back here again. It's a great place for a date night or to just hang out with friends

It has a very unique decor up front, with a river rock wall and two River Rock booths. I'm not sure how comfortable they are, but they sure look cool. There's a round bar up front and high top tables in the bar area. Walk a little further back into the dining room where there are standard tables. It also looks like there's another dining room toward the back but I didn't check that out. There's also patio seating in a big courtyard. It is a really lovely patio. Our server started us off with a sample of one of the red wines that comes from their winery. I don't usually like red wine very much, but I did love this wine and ordered a glass. They have a full bar and the other people in my party ordered cocktails. The server brought out some bread and butter to start is off. The menu has a little bit of everything for everyone - - there was some pasta, pot roast, fish, and even a burger. We ordered: *Rainbow trout with mango salsa, jasmine rice, and asparagus. Two of us ordered the trout, but I substituted my jasmine rice with mashed potatoes. *Country pot roast with mashed potatoes and brown gravy *Schnitzel with mashed potatoes and broccolini *Southwest meatloaf with mashed potatoes and The manager came to our table to see if everything was okay. I really appreciate when a manager does that. We had a really nice meal and a nice place and the price was very reasonable. I would absolutely recommend this place.
