Tomi Sushi and Ramen is conveniently located on Juan Tabo along some other solid options. Far from competing, each place has its own style and options. We have been eyeing it for a while. Like most restaurants we like to visit, it is family owned with nice decor and enough space. The menu shows many Japanese and Thai options, all of them equally appetizing. The server was quite friendly, helping us choose the chicken Pad Thai (extra spicy) and the beef pineapple rice. The pad Thai was deliciously spicy on its own accord, but the Thai chiles gave it the extra kick the hubby was hoping for. An additional chile paste gave it a bit of smokiness. The pineapple rice was slightly sweet, as expected. What surprised me was that it had raisins! I do not like raisins but the dish was so good and the raisins were such a muted ingredient that I did not mind it. Overall, this was a very nice and satisfying first visit at Tomi Sushi, getting us interested in trying more items in their menu. read more

Delicious!!! And fresh. Lived my eel roll. Definitely enjoyed the vegetable tempura as well (as evidenced by it not being pictured, I ate it too quickly). Also, the Thai Tea was perfect. Nothing actually wrong, the sushi part was good, especially the yellow tail and eel, service was a bit spotty, but there were a couple of very odd people at another table periodically shouting at each other and their kid who was loudly playing some kids show on a tablet. so perhapsthat them off a bit. some of the rolls kinda crumbled. maybe ill give them another shot in a while and re-review. read more

If you have not been to Tomi sushi, you are absolutely missing out! Their service is on point. There is one waitress that seems to take care of everyone front of house along with call in orders and man is she on top of it! She's quick, she's friendly, and she gets orders out right and fast! The place itself was small but tables were full. The bathroom was clean, so definitely a plus... Most importantly the food was phenomenal! The sushi tasted so fresh and delicious! The rolls were a great portion and also a great price! The spicy udon noodles were also a pleasant treat, had never had them before and loved them! Would definitely recommend and will order again! Late review. On the hunt for decent Japanese food. Unfortunately this was not it, but I am probably more picky as we have excellent Japanese food in Hawaii. Review is based on the udon that had basically a shoyu (soy sauce) dark base that was extremely salty. The noodles had poor texture. Like those instant udon packets that are available at Long's Drugs in Hawaii. IYKYK Stayed away from any "real" raw seafood sushi as I generally do not eat sushi if I'm in a landlocked area. We did try a California roll & it was pretty decent albeit rolled a bit loose. We did try the calamari which was more like Monku ika strips. I wanted unagi, but they were out. I suggested here because there is ample free parking in a strip mall. Tomi is tucked into the corner. Tomi Sushi & Ramen may be a good option if you live in Albuqurque, but I will wait to have sushi & udon when I return home. read more

Still LOVE, LOVE TOMI!!! The Mountain roll has taken over as our new fave roll! We also get the crunchy shrimp roll every time we go! When I first got the mountain roll I was amazed at how big it was and how inexpensive the price was for it! The price has increased but what hasn't it! The Duke City & Crunchy shrimp roll were both amazing also! We tried their Miso Ramen and WOWWWW was it good. Not to mention while we were waiting, they sent us out some sort of crab/cucumber salad and Miso soup. Neither of which we ordered nor were charged for. The chef Robert and the waitress are just such kind and gracious people. The service here is always top notch, even when they are busy and one lady handles most of it! You can feel the appreciation from chef Robert just for you eating at his restaurant, and his love of the trade really shows with his food. This is a fairly new quant sushi/ramen place. Very beautiful Interior and plenty of seating. The music was too loud and offset with the sounds of the tv on with some action show, but I'm sure this is not always the case. The service was polite and friendly. The food was amazing plain and simple. The fresh fish was delicious and treated well. The albacore nigiri was the best albacore I have had in town. Extremely well plated sushi. This sushi place is so good!!! The staff were so friendly and the food delicious! We tried the crunchy salmon roll, spider roll, and chicken roll. Crunchy salmon was my favorite! I wanted to try this place so I of course made a stop, stood in the lobby a good 20 minutes before someone walked up and told me that I needed to bring in a bag, of course I'm confused so I asked - what bag? They said "drivers need a bag before we'll give them any orders" very rudely. I tried explaining this to them - saying I don't have a bag I'm just waiting for a table and they told me they were busy with "loyal customers" and walked away. We ate lunch here today. There was one other family there when we arrived, and they finished and left. For most of our meal we were the only ones there, then another family arrived as we were finishing up. In short, there was no rush or table juggling that would otherwise provide an excuse. We ordered egg rolls and vegetable tempura as an appetizer, a few sushi rolls, and the seafood ramen. Their offering of seafood ramen was why we went. I was looking forward to that. Also, for my roll, I asked what their spiciest roll on the menu was and took their recommendation and asked them to add sliced jalapeño. The waiter returned to the front desk where he spent most of the time there playing with his phone. When I needed him, no amount of motioning would get his attention. Had there been other customers I would have had to walk over to him. Since we were alone, I tried getting his attention by calling to him. It took about six gradually louder, "Sir"s to snap him out of his phone reverie. (To be fair, once we had his attention, he was very polite.) When the food came the ramen was tonkatsu (pork) ramen instead of the seafood ramen I ordered. I brought this to their attention (this was when the repeated Sirs of the previous paragraph came in) and they fixed it by bringing out a small plate of seafood pieces to dump into the tonkatsu. Now maybe their seafood ramen really does normally use their pork broth, but I was expecting a seafood broth. It just tasted weird to mix the seafood into tonkatsu, but whatever. I left most of the ramen uneaten. While they were fixing the ramen thing I asked if the egg rolls were still on their way and the server (same one that took the order) said, "Oh, you ordered egg rolls?" Yeah, we did. They brought them out and we ate them as dessert. Oh, and that super spicy roll that I was hoping would nearly blow the top of my head off? It was okay. It wasn't at all spicy, but as an Albuquerque-made sushi roll, it was good quality. The vegetable tempura was quite tasty but the tempura was a little dense. The other sushi rolls really were a little bland, but not bad. Over all, it wasn't worth the price of the check. read more

Albuquerque is not a sushi town. So this review is 5 stars for Albuquerque. We recently visited Japan and were craving some ramen and sushi. We decided to give this place a try. It's our favorite new spot in Albuquerque. Sushi rolls were really large and very tasty. One of the rolls had lemon slices on top and it tasted great. I would have liked the lemon to have been more finely sliced but it was still very good. Ramen was also good. Broth was tasty and pork had good flavor. Definitely will be back. read more
