We've been here twice within a month timeframe. Once like on a Saturday evening and it got busy quick. I would say it's small as the amount of tables their were. I think it's a family own place and it seems like the son was working front of the house and he was very nonchalant about doing things from our observation. It didn't affect our meal though. We also came here on a Sunday as soon as they opened. My girlfriend wanted some warm soup because it's been pretty chilly lately. We were the first people there and it slowly had people trickling in. It was a different atmosphere here than the previous time we were here. I would say it was more professional as it was adults working front of the house. The restaurant itself is not the newest, the interior is a little dated, and the tables were old... But the soups are really good. My girlfriend ordered the Chinese Herb and I got the Taiwanese Sacha both times. I got mine spicy and it was the right amount of heat for me where you got the heat and still flavorful. You can order meats and veggies to put in your soup. You can make you own sauces at the sauce bar. I personally like a lot of garlic, sesame sauce, and green onions. Also a variation using peanut sauce. Both times we were here the soups were really good. I don't think there is another hot pot style like this in the ABQ area. It can get pricy if you keep ordering protein sides. We like it this spot, but coming from the bay area of Cali there are a lot of all you can eat hot pot spots for cheaper if you order a lot of protein and sides. Overall this is a good place to try hot pot. It's not new and fancy, but you'll enjoy the food.

There's certain meals that I can remember where my mouth reflexively waters every time I think of them. Zu Hot Pot is one of them. I'll preface by saying this was my first hot pot experience, but it was so good. If you've never had hot pot, it's an experience. You go up to a station where you can make your own dipping sauces (if you are unexperienced like me they have some handy recipes available). You then take all of your raw ingredients and put them in the broth for a few minutes. The viola! We ordered vegan versions of the chinese herb and kimchi broths, along with a variety of different veggies and tofu. The combination of the braised ingredients, flavorful soups and delicious sauces was a treat. The broth was so good I took leftovers home (which they encourage you to do!). The ambience is cozy, and it's nice to have everyone sitting around a boiling pot dipping and sharing together. Once your meal is done they have free ice cream you can enjoy too! It's too bad that we found this place so close to the end of winter. I imagine this would be even better in chilly weather! This was a great first experience for me and I'm eager to go again.

My friend and I had never had hot pot and had been wanting to try it, so on a blustery March night we made our way here. The helpful and friendly waiter explained the basics to us and we got the Chinese herb broth, added some noodles and an egg, mixed vegetables, and beef. It was fun being able mix our own dipping sauces from the array of condiments and we ended up getting some scallops and enoki mushrooms as well. All the ingredients seemed nice and fresh and tasted good, and it was fun too.

Basically individual tables, each with its own plug in the wall hot plate for the hotpot. We purchased an extensive array of food from ribeye, scallops, vegetable platter, mussels etc. we weren't a fan. Overall pretty bland.

Loved this place! So much food and fun. You must use the sauce bar to add flavor and it was delicious and fun. Get whatever ingredients you like and the servers explain ideal cooking time but it's awesome to cook things to your own preference. It's very DIY your own meal and I love this unique concept in a sea of standard menus. It's very casual and the staff is great. Their tea is also amazing if you like jasmine.

2 different cooking broths. 2 different heat levels.

I was Skeptical when my daughter suggested this place while in a road trip. I had never been to a Hot Pot before. But the food was excellent, the waiter very patient and helpful, and though the ambiance wasn't awesome it was pretty much as expected.

So delicious.... And of course, we love Thomas!

We love Zu Hot Pot. Our daughter introduced us to this place and it's become a favorite. I will say, it's a little pricey, but everything is so fresh and tasty.

The food was absolutely amazing! The host was so kind and helpful. Seriously best soup in Albuquerque!

The food was SO delicious. The server was absolutely delightful she happily helped us throughout the whole experience teaching us how to do the hotpot, checking in and refilling our drinks, The atmosphere was perfectly peaceful. If you're looking to try a new delicious food this place is definitely worth it!

Came back here with my fiancé because he felt like a cold rainy spring day is a perfect day for hotpot. It was indeed :) Love the many options you could choose from, ingredients and sauces. I love how the young lady was very helpful and friendly. It's a cozy but pretty big establishment. I'm glad I went back!

This is a casual "a la carte" Chinese style hot pot restaurant where you order your broth flavor and spice level, and each add in is priced accordingly. You cook all your meat and veggies yourself and make your own dipping sauce which is key to an enjoyable experience. I like mine with sesame paste, sesame oil, soy sauce, chili oil, garlic and scallions. For broth, go with the Thai curry. The others are more bland, but the broth develops into a much deeper flavor the longer it has been boiling and cooked down with your ingredients of choice! I've visited twice now and I like it for NM standards since there currently are no other options for this type of hot pot in the state. The first time I visited was with a group of 4 which I don't prefer, since everyone is sharing the same pot. You can opt for a 2 flavored broth pot but it just divides 1 pot into 2 sides and the tables are small. The second time I came was just with my boyfriend and it was a great experience since we had enough room for all our dishes. Medium Thai curry for the broth was more spicy in the beginning, but developed into more of a beef flavor that was so good at the end with our udon noodles that we saved for last. We had 2 orders of angus beef, the mixed vegetable plate, quail eggs, udon, cuttlefish balls, fish balls, and the fish fillet. This came out to $57 before tax and tip and we were stuffed! Service was great and ingredients are fresh!

Chinese herb base on left. Korean kimchi base on the right.

This was a fun and delicious experience in Albuquerque. We can't find hot pot anywhere near home. Staff was exceptionally friendly and loved the options. Greatly appreciated the "starter" recipes for dipping sauces!

She always gets the Miso Ramen hotpot and I've always changed up what I get between the sizzling plates and the hotpot options. Our absolute favorite is the basil popcorn chicken, we always get extra sauce as well because we tend to run out of the sauce before the chicken. But if you do come here please make sure you order it! They carry a lot of the traditional Japanese beers despite being a taiwanese based restaurant but that's not a bad thing, the Kirin in particular is hard to find in Albuquerque so it's my go to. The Formosa flight is also a great option for anyone looking to explore Sake. The service is nice and Lena is usually the server we see the most, she is great and always checking in on us throughout our time dining. We usually go in around 4pm and I believe it is typically the shift changeover period and it will be one or two other tables dining In and we tend to get checked on by multiple servers which is nice as a customer. We never have a bad experience here, and despite wanting to try new restaurants, we both consistently agree that Tasty pots basil popcorn chicken is worth coming here for, from there I always struggle with what to order as i want to try everything once and my girlfriend will always choose the Miso ramen hotpot. It's a great place to come and spend some time in, and there's even Boba and teas you can get to go! Typically the price range for us lands around $80 to $120 without tip depending on us getting the combo deal or not, alcohol, soft drinks, boba tea, and our appetizer. We also spend about an Hour or hour and a half dining In from the time we are sat to the time we have packed up our leftovers and are leaving out the door.

Easy to see the restaurant from the parking lot, cute tasteful neon lights point the way. The cook greeted me as I walked in, looking over his shoulder and let me me know someone would be with me soon (much appreciated; you never want to feel unseen) Neddie/Netty was helping at a table but acknowledged me then came over to show me to a table. She proved so helpful. I explained it was my first time there, she asked what I wanted to drink then said she'd send it out: it came by robot! I grabbed my drink then I had to read the screen to send it on its way: it was cute. When it came to ordering, newbie here, it looked like I wouldn't hv enough time to savor any of the main entrees what with other orders going on, and me hvg to leave for my next appt in 40 minutes, so I just ordered a shrimp tempura appetizer. A few minutes later, a dish was delivered to a nearby table when the cook, I learned his name is Viktor, asked if he could make it in 2-3 minutes, would I still like the bulgogi over rice or Japanese ramen: I looked to Neddy for her recommendation and went with the latter. Viktor was as good as his word: steaming sizzling plate of yumminess in front of me within 5". I still took 3/4 of the dish with me and it's even better as leftovers! Re: the shrimp tempura appetizer It was ok, perfectly battered and fried but seemed factory-determined cookie-cutter, all the same size, no heads, no tails. But it's a sweet, spacious establishment, cool in the 100° heat without being chilly, friendly attentive thoughtful service and tasty food. I'll be back to try the main stuff -- and allow ample time to savor the offerings.
