I've written reviews before for this place and yelp just never posted it. I think the app was having issues. Everything here is a 5/5. Some may say the price was too much but this is better than Fleming's. Service is always impeccable. Eclectic taste. There has to be a bigger word for Delicious. Classy, sexy and elegance with great tasting food and great vibes and drinks. We love this place. Lots of great memories. Chef Daniel Godinez is amazing. The food is sooooooooo yummy. The Martinez is a delicious vodka drink. And I love my vodka. Their filet Mignon and prime rib are to die for. The sauces that they add to any plate satisfy your palate. Polanco is a fine dinning Mexican eatery and steak house. It is fantastic. The place is ever so pretty, inside and out. Parking is easy. Once seated a wonderful server comes to get your drink order and you have time to read the menu. The service here is great. They take good care of you and clearly want you to be happy and comfortable. The food is just the best. We have been a few times now. We love their mussels and all of their seafood. Their steak and lobster is prefect. This is fine dinning so it is pricey, but it is all worth it. They have a full bar and a nice wine list. They have anything you might want for dinner. Their tacos, beef or fish are amazing and we love their salads. Our favorite are their steaks. Cooked exactly as ordered and some of the sides are great. This is a beautiful restaurant located in a boutique style hotel! Perfect for a date night with low lit ambiance. Our server was really nice, offering great suggestions for our dining experience here. I had never been to a Mexican steakhouse and this was a great introduction to it. The filet mignon chicharron was a very tasty appetizer! The elote was also amazing, the corn was soft and didn't get caught in my teeth which I appreciated. For my entree I got the rack of lamb, it was good cooked medium well and came with a roasted cabbage which was absolutely delicious! We ordered a side of lobster potatoes and those were creamy goodness, so good. The Brussels sprouts were also amazing and a great choice for a veggie side. It was so much food! Upon making a decision of where it would be best to have our company holiday dinner, Polanco came into decision making and we are so happy to have spent it there for the year 2024. Inside the Ayres Hotel. Parking was easy accessible and the hotel itself is a hidden gem with Polanco restaurant inside. The ambiance was amazing and our waitress was such a sweetheart. Overall our experience was great and the food was fresh. This place is wonderful for a date, children and groups. Must call in advance to advise of how many in your party and credit card to be put on file. If you are a no show they will charge your card $5-$10 a head of original amount you advise. What a lovely surprisingly palate-pleasing spot inside the Ayres Hotel in Hawthorne. It's cutely decorated in an early American or Victorian style and looks like it has been rather recently remodeled. Modern Latin music piped through the place to add to the ambiance. Our server Alex recommended the rib eye chicharrones which were amazing! The pulpos were a close second. We had the iberico, which was salted and accompanied with grilled cabbage, seasoned with truffle oil, and garlic. So delish. The steak that came with the tablets was amazing too. So perfectly cooked and delectable. The divorcadas enchiladas were filled to the brim with meat and lobster. And slathered in three salsa sauces. Also very good. I live far from this restaurant but when I'm in the area, I'm going back for the chicharrones as my meal! Highly recommended and ask for Alex as your server. He won't steer you wrong! This is a beautiful restaurant! 10/10 food, service, energy, everything! It's located inside a hotel but it still has its own entrance from the outside. There is a bit of a walk for the bathroom since you use the one in the hotel lobby. It's smaller than you'd think and there are some seating options that are much better than others. I didn't get an opportunity to try the food but the guy that helped us was pretty nice, he told me that he wishes they could've stayed open later because he wants to make money. The interior of the hotel was such a pleasant surprise. The restaurant was similarly impressive. The menu had unique offerings. Really, like a 3.5. Everything came out cold. Nothing was *hot*.. chicharron was coldish. It was ok. The mussels, very salty, goodish- but also not hot. The short rib, was a dry pot roast with cold potatoes. Wedge salad, meh. Very wet dressing and barely any bacon. The food was 3, but priced at a 5. The drinks were great. When the server had time to take care of us, really great. I would come back for drinks and maybe a an appetizer with the expectation it will be cold or slightly lackluster. Maybe, sit at the bar for consistent service. I really wanted to like this place. I'm Mexican and live in the area. But, unfortunately- the food just wasn't that great for the price. I would say I picked the wrong dishes but the temperature always being suspiciously low was disappointing enough. Come to drink fancy cocktails and maybe order the fundido after you go to Costco? Yes, definitely recommend, very well suited for date nights. The restaurant itself is small but really beautifully decorated and very good service. The food was delicious, we had the tomahawk steak with a side of the carrots and roasted Brussels sprouts. We had the Cadillac margaritas which were perfectly strong. I really enjoyed this place. The ambience, food, and drinks, were all 5 stars. The restaurant is in a hotel, but it doesn't feel like it. Dim lighting, romantic feel, low music, but also good for parties of maybe 6-8. The chicarron and octopus were so flavorful! Both were very different flavors, but they paired well together. They were perfect. The steak in the surf and turf was also very good, properly seasoned and cooked well. The drinks were well-balanced. Can't wait to go back and try the other things on the menu. There are a lot of sit-down restaurants in this area, but I would say that this is probably one of the best ones in terms of food and price point. read more

Location - Note that the restaurant is attached/within a hotel. That through me off at first. I had to check Yelp outside photos to confirm lol. Parking - Parking is complimentary if you are simply eating at the restaurant so you may disregard the QR pay for parking signs posted. Reservations - Note that your whole party must be present before being seated but there's nice seating area while you wait. Ambiance - Warm low lighting, cozy. Great for a date night or catching up with friends. Drinks - Great drink selection. But since my friend gave up alcohol for Lent I opted out. But what is nice is that they can make any of their signature cocktails as a mocktail for only $10 which was tasty and I did partake in. I would recommend to cool it on the amount of ice though but I know how it is. Food - Our waitress recommended the Divorciadas ("Divorced") enchiladas - one filet mignon and one lobster. The former comes with red sauce and the latter with green. Tbh my favorite was the lobster so I'd probably just go back and order 2 of those but the filet mignon was good as well. This hidden venue, was discovered when looking on Yelp for local steakhouses. Made reservations, for a special occasion, and I'm glad I did. Palanco's is a Mexican Steakhouse, located inside the Ayers Hotel. We were greeted by a friendly host, and promptly seated. The restaurant's atmosphere consists of warm lights, beautiful decor, and romance. Our server was friendly and polite. We had an idea of what we wanted thanks to the online menu. As a starter, our server brought us some full size tortilla with a choice of three different kinds of salsas. The salsas varied from mild to HOT! Loved it! The presentation of the food, was eye popping and mouthwateringly beautiful. I was extremely impressed. The food came on a wooden steak board. The board was loaded with steak, grilled onions, seasoned grilled cabbage, bean and salsa verde purées. On the side, deliciously seasoned roasted fingerling potatoes. Fabulous! Ok it's hard to find a place to start from the gorgeous interior to the amazing food. Walking in you really feel like you are in a different place. I came with my family and we wanted to look around. The artwork on the walls, the vintage furniture decor in the halls and the courtyard were lovely to see. Then we came into a parlor area that had I believe a French style decor. The couches, books, artwork and other accents to their room were stunning and really comfortable to sit in while we chatted. We then went into the restaurant and the service was impeccable. Our glasses were never low and our waiter was very attentive. We ordered a couple appetizers of muscles, pulpo and another that had chicharrones of some sort. Everything was just sooo good. The muscles were my favorite with the delicious cream sauce. We then all shared the tomahawk steak that came with chicken, grilled veggies and lamb. It was plenty for a group of four and we had left overs. The steak was so tender and was the absolute best. The platter came with an avocado sauce which I used to dip everything. My friend brought me here and just raved about the steaks and insisted that I had to try this place. Surprisingly this place is in the Ayres Hotel in Hawthorne, really! With the menus, our server brought to the table crisp corn tortillas and three types of salsa ranging from mild to hot. We ordered cocktails to start as we checked out the menu, I ordered the Polanco margarita. Did they forget the silver tequila for $17?! I had an empty stomach and I didn't feel the slightest buzz from it. I went with my friend's recommendation of the rib eye, she got the same and her husband ordered the carnitas tacos. The rib eye comes with grilled cabbage, green onion, jalapeño, bean purée and a salsa purée. We also ordered the fingerling potatoes and Brussels sprouts for the sides. Our rib eye was cooked perfectly at medium, and it was nicely seasoned. However I was disappointed that the rib eye didn't include the rib cap, the most tender and flavorful part of the steak! I've never had a ribeye that didn't have the cap. Sorry but that's a major star deduction for me. The sides were good. Service was friendly and attentive. I came in on a quiet Sunday evening and sat at the bar. I enjoyed the ambiance immediately - low lit, splashes of purple, large comfy chairs. The chair was also a bit of a pain because it was just heavy enough it resisted my "scooching" efforts to nudge closer to the rail. I had to get off the chair and make adjustments. The bartender was great. While his focus was primarily on a small party of ladies he also never left me unattended. The cocktails were great - well balanced and not overly boozy. I started guessing the ladies were regulars as more employees came out to socialize with them. Everyone was cheerful. I enjoyed watching that interaction, hoping they were regulars because I appreciate restaurants who acknowledge and welcome their regulars. I had the ceviche for my meal as the steaks were outside of my budget. I loved the ceviche. It was a combination of fish, tomato, cucumber, avocado, and not too many onions. What a local gem! A hidden little gift to locals, tucked into the Ayers Hotel. Simply wouldn't expect such a great place to be located here, next to the 405 on-ramp and across from the "picturesque" Costco/Bed, Bath and Beyond parking lot, but here it is. Recently saw that the downtown location was mentioned on a "Best Mexican restaurants in L.A." list, so had to check it out. A bit hipper than it looks from the street (I certainly prefer the modern decor to the hotel). If you like places Esperanza, Calo, and Mercado, you'll love it here. Some very tasty, inventive, and super well-crafted food. You can always test quality at a Mexican place with how they treat chips, salsa, and margaritas. Way too much ice in the margaritas for my taste, but they're delicious. The excellent trio of salsas with the (multigrain?) tortilla chips (served whole in a rack like people use to use for their 45 records back in the day) shows they sweat the little things. We usually go for the happy hour but have stayed for the excellent steaks. Not a huge place and just starting to catch on, so get there soon. They get an extra star for taking a chance on the area, considering how removed it is from the beach and other restaurant zones. read more
