First time here and I am very satisfied! I ordered the strawberry margarita and the Tom's asada burrito with red sauce. I don't usually do much spicy, and it was perfect for me, full of flavor and absolutely delicious. The staff was very attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. Food: I'm not sure if it's an AZ thing but I'm used to my carne asada cut in chunks or strips...these were in thin slabs. So much flavor!! Service: instantly welcomed in and I could sit anywhere I wanted. No one has specific tables which means they all are there to help you! I was provided with chips and salsa and water right away. Food came out so quick. Every server checked up on me and constantly made sure that I was ok. I'll be honest--Hawthorne has never been a place I've felt comfortable in. Between being held up at gunpoint, jumped at a park, and even getting pulled out of an alley by police for something stupid I did when I was younger, I had real reservations about going back, even just to eat. That said, Zacatecas Restaurant is absolutely worth the trip--no matter how you get there. The garlic shrimp alone is enough reason to go. Bold, flavorful, and somehow still incredibly tender--honestly, more tender than a mother's love--with just the right balance of garlic and a light touch of lemon. The Mexican rice is fluffy and fragrant, and the refried beans are everything they should be--rich, smooth, and comforting. What really stood out to me, especially as a chef, is the cleanliness. This place is spotless from front to back, clearly well-maintained, and run with pride. The staff is warm, welcoming, and makes you feel right at home.
