I came to Polish Nail Spa to get a basic pedicure at least five times and the last time I came here, they raised their prices from $29 to $35. I checked their website to book the appointment and the price was still listed at $29 for the pedicure but when I got there, they didn't notify me about the price increase. When I told them that their website listed $29 for the pedicure, they said something about not having had time to update the website due to the weekend. At that point, they should have honored the $29 that I thought it was going to be with a caveat that I would have to pay $35 next time. But no such offer was given. I felt like this was false advertising and I have to call them out on this. Furthermore, this had to have been the worst pedicure I have ever gotten. I could have done a better job painting my own toenails which I think I'm going to do from now on instead of paying $35 for some whack job sloppy work. The photo I posted of my big toenails shows the horrible paint job. Granted, I took this photo 1.5 weeks after I got the pedicure, but the sloppy paint job is exactly what it looked like when it was freshly painted (minus the growth from the cuticle area). I've have been searching for a new nail salon since the manicurist at the place I have been going to (for years) has been super busy lately and I always had to wait for a while, even with appointments made a week or two ahead of time. On several occasions, she even forgot my appointment until I showed up. Not good. I am also very picky since I have been getting my nails done for a very very long time (yes, way too long!), so I can always tell the difference of these salons by pics posted of their employees' work on Yelp. :) After doing my due diligence for a while, I decided to try this salon out. Came here the first time on Friday and I got lost for a bit looking for the salon. I was, of course, late when I finally found them. The manicurist (that I had the appointment with) was super nice and did not have an attitude nor being grumpy or mean. They were instead, very polite and pleasant. We were recommended to come here from a coworker, who interestingly was also discouraged by the same nail salon that we had previously gone to a few days prior. Anyway, my daughter had gel-x nails applied a few days prior (at the other salon) for her Homecoming dance. Unfortunately a few days later her friend bent her nail backwards, which caused a partial tear to her skin under her actual nail that was bleeding. She came home from school in pain, so we decided it was for the better to have the pretty nails removed altogether. (Plus she's pretty active, and the long nails would be more of a hindrance.) I thought about going back to the previous salon to have them removed, but was told by a few people that they would charge a ridiculous amount to have them removed because they would want to talk us into keeping the nails and just having a polish change and touch-up, and so forth. My coworker told me that one of the reasons that she likes this salon is because all are their prices are upfront and not hidden. I saw that it would cost us $12.00 online, which seemed pretty reasonable to me. Once we were greeted I explained to the young gentleman about what had happened to her nail, and he reassured me that they could take care of it and remove the nails. He was courteous and gentle with the whole process, which made my daughter relieved and happy. It looks like we found ourselves a new favorite local nail salon for future visits! She ended up filing one toe into a weird rounded shape while leaving the other square, so my feet looked completely uneven. When I politely pointed out that they didn't match, a man came over and immediately acted offended and defensive instead of trying to fix the issue. The attitude from both of them was unbelievable. Rude facial expressions, and acting like I was the problem for wanting my nails to look even? I asked if there was any way to correct the shape so they could at least match, and she decided to pile on thick layers of builder gel making the one nail look very bulky, unnatural and still not matching the rest. Then she proceeded to file it into the exact same ugly rounded shape AGAIN. At that point it was obvious they either didn't care or didn't know what they were doing. I'm very disappointed--not just with the service, but with how I was treated. I paid $75 for a manicure that was done poorly, with uneven paint and visible edges. For my job, I need clean, well-polished nails, so I came back the next morning as I was told I could. Instead of repainting the areas that were missed, a man tried filing my nails down to where the polish ended, which made no sense and didn't fix the problem. When I asked for the paint to be touched up properly, he told me I'd have to come back again. I explained I live far away and would prefer to wait--but instead of helping, he was rude and dismissive. Even worse, when I mentioned I had called the day before, he insisted I hadn't. I had to show my phone to show him I called which was then said to be the wrong number. I came across Polish Nail Spa and after reading the good reviews, I called to make an appointment and the were able to get me in 15 minutes later. When I arrived, I was greeted and checked in. The salon is nicely decorated and relaxing. The technician working on my pedicure took his time and focused on getting the color to cover my whole nailbed. The massage was so relaxing. I always have good experience here. It is not pricey at all compared to other places around Lake Forest which can REALLY upcharge their prices, but this place doesn't which i like. Usually with some nail salons/spas they get a bit lazy when it is crowded and care more about quantity rather than quality but this place never failed me even when it is busy. They're honest which is what i like the most! I'm writing this review about their customer service. Overall quality is Dip (4/5) and Pedi (3/5). However, this shop is on a pricey side. While I was getting my dip, I asked the tech to go easy with the grinder as I felt it touch my skin couple of times, and I was uncomfortable. He told me it was because of my stiff finger. I let it go because I didn't see any cut or blood at the time. Perhaps I should have stopped him and asked for a different tech. I already felt a cut when he was putting other products on but I didn't actually see the raw skin until I got home and started to examine. Overall work was good but I will not be returning because of this incident. I do not have tech's name but he was middle age asian guy. Pedi was done by older Asian lady. Again, I found a cut when I got home. Similar to mani, I felt something during the process but didn't actually see the raw skin while I was at the shop. Next review is about the overall customer care aspect. I reached out via Yelp DM and their own review survey method directly to the business owner. And I did NOT receive any response. I waited over 10 days which is a plenty of time to respond back to customers but nope it didn't happen. That's why I am writing this review. Again, this review isn't about everyone at the shop. I am tempted to try different techs because this place is so close to where I live but I definitely don't want to get more cuts. I am not sure if I will ever return to this shop at this moment. If you are reading this review, make sure to speak up at the shop if you feel any burn or pinch. The odds are you might find a cut at home. I regret not speaking up at the shop. read more

But my last visit was nightmare - first and foremost when I switched my mind to do regular nail instead of gel, the lady doing my nail gave me such cold looks and it made me feel uncomfortable - I asked for callus removal, but she hard did surface level buffing. - my nail color is chipped already on day 2 ! - I got acrylic for my toe nail which was broken. Now one foot had an oval toe nail and the one which was done is square, I asked them to repair it to make it look even I don't think they even paid attention. STAY AWAY! To be fair my review is for the slightly overweight gentleman who did my nails. I went in for a manicure and pedicure with an appointment at 10:30 AM. I wasn't even seated until close to 11 and my service started soon after that. After waiting 30 minutes, the guy rushed my appointment and overcut my nails and skin to the point where I started bleeding and I had to tell him to stop. Then he started on my fingernails and used the buffing machine and completely scratched and destroyed the thickness of my nailplate, discoloring them. (See pics). When I asked him to just cut my nails so they look symmetric he was unable to do that so he filed them down as much as he could. In the 15 years I've been getting manicures I've never had someone use the machine on me or be unable to cut my nails straight. I'm not sure if he was just rushed or didn't understand but it was a horrible experience. I'm in so much pain because of the cut on my toe. Oh, and he forgot to massage and apply basic hand cream ( which they apologized for but I couldn't go back) because I think he panicked because of how terrible the nails were looking. No one is perfect but honestly what bothered me is that he and the spa were completely unapologetic. They could've offered to refund me or credit me towards a service by another manicurist because there were clear mistakes made here, however they just shrugged their shoulders and moved on. Customer service is completely lacking. Please do better. read more

Watch out for the mosquitoes ! Until this past Sunday I used to go every two weeks to get a mani pedi but for the last 4 months or so they seem to be breeding a mosquito farm there and I end up with a few bites without fail every time. The mosquitos are visibly flying around visiting from customer to customer the technicians do their best to avoid them or wave them away but the manager gets defensive when it is mentioned and refuses getting something as basic as a zapper to remove them. I left in the middle of my mani this past Sunday and went to another establishment to get my nails done. Manager was really offensive, pretended she didn't have a larger towel to cover exposed ankles ignored any concern. I love their technicians but they have got to get their pest issue under control not worth the trouble. Very gross. read more

December 2023 - I requested nail art, and the result didn't come close to the example I provided (picture added). Hoping for a better experience, I provided feedback after this appointment to the link they sent, but received no response or refund. May 2024 - To add to the frustration, my cuticles were left bleeding and burning today (this was after my appointment yesterday) again with a terrible gel manicure. I am so picky with where to get my natural nails done at but after a lot of searching I have finally found the place! Steven is the very best - he is knowledgeable, so gentle, has great attention to detail, and is very skilled generally. His manner is very pleasant and I know my nails are in good hands (literally lol). Very quick too- he does a fantastic job in under an hour! I have gotten my nails done by Steven multiple times now and every time they are A1. Nothing compares! I drive 25-30 mins just for this place. Clean place, looks very well kept.
