If you read a bad review it's most likely from people who do not know how to be on time for their appointments, expect to be fit in when they don't have an appointment or want extras for free. Will never go back. i took my daughter in to have her nails done for prom and they just sucked. They were rude and disregarded my daughters requests of how she wanted her nails shaped. Charged me $18 more for the service than the posted price and when I questioned it, they told me it was an old pricing?? If thats the case, shouldn't they post the correct price some place so people are not feeling like theyre being ripped off?! One of the nails came off that night (they were acrylic) and we had to go to a different spot to have it fixed right before her prom!! Lately, when I've gotten a pedicure, I feel like a piece of wood in a toy factory: rough edges are quickly cut, sanded and slapped with a coat of paint. Polished nails actually made me feel human, like a princess, actually. Polished Nail Spa is polished, as in classy. Classical music, chandaliers, beautiful furniture, tasteful art make you feel as if you have walked into the lobby of a chic boutique hotel. The technicians have definitely been trained to spoil us. The leg massage with the hot stones made me forget that I was in Larkspur and took me to a fine resort in Costa Rica. Polished takes things back to when getting manicures and pedicures was a treat, rather than an obligation. If we ladies must deal with the unpleasantries of callouses, corns, chipped paint, sore feet, we might as well do it in a place where we can relax and be spoiled. We deserve it, after all. read more

The ladies were very thorough and both did a fantastic paint job while also getting me in and out in under an hour without feeling like they had rushed in any way. I have been looking for a nail salon in Marin a step up from the usual places and I have finally found one. Polished Nail to great! It reminds me of Silk in San Francisco, but better. No, they do not have a massage chair, but who cares! They massage your legs and arms with hot stones! And the ladies who work there are really nice, professional and meticulous. Best part is the tools are individually wrapped and opened in front of you. Regular mani/pedi is $40. I paid an additional $10 to add on a 10 minute foot massage. Well worth it! There was a lot to love about this pedicure, although I do have a few concerns. The location is convenient - I parked literally in front of the salon with absolutely no problem even on a busy saturday night in downtown larkspur. It was very easy to get an appointment: I called at 5:30 on a saturday evening and they got me in at 6:15... I couldn't believe I got worked in so late on a saturday. I felt the price was excellent. I loved the hot stone massage and it was definetly more than I was expecting for the price. When I read other reviews on here, I kept thinking to myself the hot stone massage must be an add on... nope, folks, it's included! I liked the atmosphere, the music, the chandelier, the comfy chairs. I also liked the copper bowls - seemed much cleaner than those nasty spa chairs with jets that can't be adequatly cleaned. The instruments were packaged and I presume autoclaved between use. The polish looks great - flawless, in fact! My only complaint is that I felt incredibly rushed: The technician might as well of slapped me down in the chair before she abruptly and abrassivly started going at my toes. The further into the pedicure, she softened up and mellowed a bit, but it was shocking in the beginning. Finally, they literally closed up shop around me ... swept the floors, took up every magazine and bottle of polish, changed the trashbags, etc. All the workers (except my technician) even counted and reported the days tips while I was still there. While I appreciated being fit in on a Saturday evening, I would have been happy to come the next day. I didn't like feeling so rushed to get out - I felt like I was holding them up but wanted to make sure my polish was dry. I'll definetly give them another try because the quality of work was excellent, but I'm hoping next time is more relaxing. read more

I have been a customer of Polished for many years and even before while the owner was at a different location. I am always treated well, my nails look great, they are clean and don't rush the work. Different folks have different experinces based on their expectations. I have always had high expectations. of services and thus far, have no complaints. Yes they speak Vietnamese, and yes often do not talk to the customers...but it is out of respect and not out of rudeness. polished is a fine place (clean, nice looking, decent selection) to get your nails done, but they are rough, rude, and don't have much interest in you. I have gone here numerous times and even got acrylics here before that were decent , but when I got them today they were horrible! I was disappointed. When I got home my mom (who is extremely nice) says they were horrible and went back with me to complain. Luckily they fixed them the best they could while they said it was my fault (the women barely spoke English and didn't understand what I wanted/ the nails weren't even asymmetrical). They wouldn't redo them or gives money back and they still aren't great and look very fake. They said they could fix them more when I come back for filling. I this was my last straw with them. I hope other salons will fix my nails when I need to get them filled. Polished is fine if you just want a change of color and if don't want to be pampered but thrown around for an hour feeling less relaxed when you came in. read more

I started coming to Polished the month they opened and they used to be fantastic!! Too bad in just had my second horrible experience in the past 2 months. It seems that unless Twee (the owner) is here the other ladies could care less about the quality of your experience and are more concerned with their conversations than the customer. Not only was I stabbed in the fingers twice, but I was rushed out of my chair to accommodate a child getting a pedicure before I had been given any arm massage. I asked if I didn't get one with a gel manicure and she tried to tell me I had already gotten my massage- apparently I completely missed my favorite part of getting a manicure. If I wanted to listen to a bunch of ladies yell at each other I would watch The View. I will not be returning to Polished anytime soon. Disappointed. read more

Visiting Marin County for a wedding weekend, and didn't want to travel with a fresh manicure. But, as a bridesmaid, needed to get them done! Another bridesmaid and I had no trouble making an appointment, and we were pleasantly surprised when we walked in to the salon and saw how lovely it is! The white walls, nice sunlight, seating area, and light fixtures all create a really clean but posh look. The manicure itself was great. We pay this price in Chicago and NEVER get a hot stone hand massage like the one we got at Polished! It felt so so nice and the polish was well-applied. She even took her time to do an extra coat on each tip. I appreciated this as I always find that is the first place to chip. HOWEVER -- if I'm paying $30 to get a gel manicure, I expect a 'manicure' and at very least to be treated decently. 4 ladies in the salon and everyone was unfriendly, I was rushed, unrelaxed and felt unwelcome. I really like this salon. The ladies are very friendly --give amazing food/calf rubs and use fresh bowls of water that they clean and refill for each client. The space is modern and very clean. The prices are average and I always leave more relaxed than when I walked through their door. read more

I love the shellac/gel manicures I get here. They last 5 weeks without chipping! I love Twee and Tee. They make me feel very cared for.

They use the sterile instruments that come in a sealed bag and copper pots that they clean each time. The place is immaculate and I love the smells of the massage oils. This was a great experience! read more

Easily the worst and grossest nail salon I have ever been too. The staff was rude and negligent. I decided to give Polished a try because my regular nail tech couldn't fit me in on short notice today. I have heard its nice since a recent remodel. I called about an hour ahead and they were able to take me for a gel mani and a pedi. When I arrived I was not greeted. Since it was my first time there I thought I'd better wait for some kind of instruction. None followed. Awkward. So I look at polish, chose some and waited. Finally a woman looks up and says "sit down." She points to the middle chair and I sit. On the work station in front of me and to both sides of me there are 10 to 20 bottles and tools on each station from previous clients. Weird. I give them the benefit of the doubt because maybe it's been a busy day. But so busy no one is cleaning up? I should have left at this point. One woman starts on my toes in the fastest, most aggressive, un-relaxing fashion. Poking and using a sharp edge of her finger nail to remove polish slip ups. She has tools that look clean but at this point I'm skeptical. The massage was okay- but the hot stones were too hot and awkwardly used. At one point she punches both my legs. Since when is punching a massage technique? The woman wore gloves at one point but not at others- clearly no concept of real sanitation. A different woman did my gel manicure. I told her what I wanted and she said I couldn't have a layer of sparkle over the top as the last coat. Bummer. My regular nail tech does it with OPI gel all the time and it works perfectly. Why would OPI gel be different at one salon vs another? If you offer the OPI gel colors and sparkles, why not let clients choose them? She gave no explanation. Just " NO" and then silence. I settle for no sparkles- fine. While she did my nails she made no effort to keep a professional attitude. She used a magazine to catch filings on my lap. She was on the phone at least half the time. Her and he co workers joked and laughed in their first language. She asked me to move chairs part way through for no apparent reason and plopped my new pocked book on the ground after snatching it from between my body and the chair. She didn't bring my sandals with me, and let them get stepped on by several people. When she was actually doing my manicure, she did not pay any attention to the dryers timer that are used for gel. I have had gel done at a few places and all of them have been very attentive to this process, as it's part of what makes the gel polish last. The polish is sloppy and she ended up doing an uneven, and rushed job. The polish has light spots and is on my skin. The tips have spots that didn't get any topcoat. The clear ended up under my nails and I can feel it. She also kept scraping my cuticles with her sharp nails to fix polish errors- gross. The worst part towards the end of the appointment- between the top coat and some sort of buffing that happens with rubbing with alcohol- she got up and started another client and returned to me with out washing her hands. Seriously!? This just seems so obvious as something not to do. No hand massage. No lotion. Nothing. I can't believe I actually paid money, or that this chop shop stays in business. How can a simple mani pedi be so awkward? This place is a nice exterior but that's it. read more

I have been going to Thuy since 2006 and I love this new spa she has recently opened. As others have said, the decor is lovely and sophisticated. But my loyalty is due to the consistent quality of Thuy's work. She is pleasant and accommodating, and her mani/pedis and fills are perfect. At first I loved this place = the hot stones, the serene environment, the copper foot baths, etc... The more I"ve been the less I like it. My manicure only lasts a day or two before it starts peeling. They don't use good base and top coat or something in their routine makes for a manicure that does not last at a all. I tried to communicate a particular need and she was so busy talking to other manicurists that she wouldn't listen.
