Just had my first time with this resturant chain. I was planning on going to the chelsea location but saw this one open up closer to my house. I think I have found my replacement for thre recently closed El pollo loco in Chelsea.. I had the grilled campero bowl which was pretty good except for the chicken being some what dry. Overall the dish was good. I enjoyed the beans with the bacon mixed in. They say that this is one of their 3 meals under 505 calories. If this is true than it was amazing!! But I don't know how rice and beans with ham and bacon and chicken on top can be that low in calories. I would deffentaly go back and would love to try the fried chicken and a horchata!! read more

Wow, so I've been debating coming to this location in East Boston since I live close by and decided today that I wanted Fried Chicken. I am used to this chicken from Los Angeles but don't think it ever came close to the original, well I was very surprised and happy when I ordered my food and received my plate. The chicken was hot and fresh also with the sides and definitely what I was craving. The service was friendly and very quick the place was crowded as I expected from this chain. I will definitely be coming back now knowing that this place delivers an exceptional product and the flavors I've known. Awesome fried chicken - crispy, juicy, and light. Got the coleslaw as a side. It was a little bland, so will try a different side next time. For those from El Salvador and Central America, Pollo Campero is a familiar fast food joint which is known for its fast, crispy, juicy chicken. For those not familiar , well read on.... The owner ( he owns both Chelsea and East Boston location) seems to have had a bright idea to cater to the Central American population of East Boston/ Chelsea with a little taste of home. It seems to be big hit . Opening day in the Chelsea location was pure mayhem although this one came in with less of a bang. The location itself is a nice , bright addition to the sketchy looking Liberty Plaza . The service was friendly and fast ( which it should be ) and the menu was pretty straight forward. I think it was a nice opening day touch that the employees would collect the trays form you and dump it for you . I assume this was just for " first - impression" purposes. The chicken is pretty good, they come w/ 2 sides and are usually worth the 8$ or sumthin like that. If your in the plaza and looking for a quick , non-diet, bite with Central American flair then stop bye... This is a chain and not really a foodie destination...but what in Liberty plaza is ?? at least not yet.. read more

Empanadas!! Since moving to Boston last year I've been looking for a great empanada & I've finally found one . I got the trio (3 empanadas with one side) with a side of black beans. This was my first ime at Pollo Campero. For a chain restaurant I was really impresed. Price: For the price you get a lot of food. I ordered the Friend chicken bowl and 6 pc fired chicken. $6.99 for the bowl and $4 for the chicken pcs. Flavor: Very nice. I actually loved the fried chicken and the skin was very crispy. Service: Great. BRAVO to them at that location. They brought our food to our table, and yes, with a smile. The experience was great for fast food. Actually , it was great in general. one star being cold leftover chicken and 5 stars being the most amazing chicken I've ever had, this is a solid 4-4.5. The grilled chicken is amazing; I have no idea how they get so much flavor into the chicken. The sides are great (both the beans and the rice/beans). The empanadas are so-so: not crispy, a little soggy/greasy but the filling is good (I tried both the spicy and the citrus ones). The food seems a little bit more expensive than what you expect for a fast food place, but acceptable (wayyyyyy better than KFC). The bowls are probably a beter bet but I ordered for a party of 4 (one whole chicken, 3 sides and two empanadas) and it came out to $30-35 (no drinks). Staff was friendly. Food was cold/old. Got a wing and a breast. There was absolutely NO meat on the wing, just DRY plastic like skin and what was once meat. I really hate to be the debbie downer, but I haven't been there in a while and the food was not what I expected. The chicken was not at all warm and we could taste the grease on the cold chicken. The only reason why it was crispy is because the food had harden with the grease on it. It wasn't full at all and they managed to get our 2 people order wrong without the right amount of pieces. Thankfully we found our receipt because the servers were suspicious of us claiming to have ordered an extra piece of chicken. Also the way the treated each other when our order and the order of the people before us was wrong was a bit uncomfortable for us to watch, they seemed to be very unprofessional with each other. Personally I won't be going back there anymore unless I hear the quality has changed. I went to the one in Cheslea a couple of times and their service is excellent! They are fast, prompt and serve their customer with a smile! I love their FREE sauce bar! When I ordered their fried tortilla I always grab a couple of them salsas! Their chicken, I am not really a big fan of? Or maybe I'm wrong? My first time their I've ordered to go and when I got home the fried chicken was not as crispy? Their side order of rice is an OK ( I've tasted better rice)... The service is terrible. I came in to ger some food for my family and i thought this should be quick but I was wrong. For a fastfood restaurant it took way too long 45 minutes. I had to wait even when the food was already out. Then they messed up my order and took an extra 10 minutes. It was unbelievable. The employee's wouldnt even listen to their customers. Honestly, I don't get what the big deal is. The crowd that used to form for the one in Chelsea back in the days convinced me that I should try Pollo Campero. I love chicken and all, but their chicken just didn't do it for me. I will go here if McDonald's (which I am not a fan of) is full and I need something quick but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way for this place. I should also mention that the staff only seems to speak Spanish except for one or two, which could be a problem for English speakers who want to check it out. It seems a bit pricey to me as well. Sorry, but if you think this American one is great, go to Latin America and have your mind blown by the real Pollo Campero. This just doesn't cut it for me as I can just feel and taste the American degradation of the food. I waited in front of the counter, waiting to be helped by either of the 2 girls behind it. The East Boston branch has opened and while it is the same the Chelsea location minus the drive -thru my experience here was better. The people working were nice and fast. No wait at all. I did not enjoy the chicken the first time but I think the key is to just go with the fried. It is amazing, juicy and tender. Tonight i got an 8 pc meal of fried chicken with campero beans and rice. The food was good dont get me wrong, but for the half hour I waited for it I will not be going back to this location ever again. How long does it take to throw already fried chicken, which i could clearly see sitting there, in a bag and scoop two sides. Everyone was complaining that they waited over 20 minutes as well. Never, Never have I had such great service in a fast food joint. The Manager had to deal with a crazy person in front of me and polite the whole time. Ant place else they would have just been jerks. Then after we ordered and was eating he came over and asked how everything was. Fast food, yes this is a fast food place. When the first Pollo Campero was opened in Chelsea I couldn't believe the lines, the fuzz was so huge that I saw the Chelsea police directing the traffic. I waited months before I could taste this chicken again. I could say it was okay not the same flavor from El Salvador it was just a little bit better than KFC. This chain of "fast food" I give only 1 start. I am not from this area but I volunteered for an organization and its location is close to the Eastie Pollo Campero and I have been several times to this East Boston location and the service is not bad but horrible. I kept going thinking probably the poor service and management was only my perception but not, every time I go there I have to wait more than 20 minutes to have my combo meal finally put together,while I can see the employees are just there staring at the chicken on the trays, the management is a disaster! Yesterday I had to wait more than 15 minutes for this employee to put together a plate with 1 tight, 1 leg and rice I asked her why it was taking so long and she said that the manager had gone to get more tortillas and that probably she stopped by the restroom and that's why it was taking so long to have my order fulfilled. I had enough of this poor service and as hungry as I was, I decided to cancel my order but not without asking before for the owner' information to contact him and let him know HE NEEDS TO SUPERVISE AND MAKE SURE THE CUSTOMERS - WHO PAY AND ARE HELPING HIS BUSINESS GROW ARE TREATED WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY. But his manager a woman named Rosa refused to give it to me, I am really tired of seeing business owned by Hispanic or business that cater to Hispanics giving bad service to their main customers why is that? Because most of the Hispanic rarely complaint and rarely know that here in USA they have rights yes consumer rights and they should always demand the same service that this employees give to the Anglos. Food is O-K-A-Y surprisingly the quality and service is better in El Salvador and Central America than here. SERVICE IS POOR REALLY POOR, MORE THAN POOR S-L-O-W, place looks clean and acceptable.
