This is the second Pollo Campero location and truly enjoyed the meal then. Tonight I got the 3 piece fried meal with beans, plantains, fries and the trio empanadas. The drive thru employee gave great service. Got my food and it smelled great. I couldn't wait to get home. It still hot. Took the first bite and I was somewhat disappointed. Now I can admit I had a cold before that affected my tastebuds. The chicken tasted little burned and a little tasteless. I had to let mister try it so I could be sure. I really don't know how I haven't reviewed this place... I've been a customer at this location for more than 10 years! I first went here to check it out when I started my first year of teaching at a school down the street about 6 minutes away. I rolled up, ordered their 20 pcs dark for $20 deal, got it in about 5 minutes from ordering, it was hot, crispy, and juicy- super fragrant and unbelievably delicious. The way I have introduced Pollo Campero to other people has been that you can literally eat the bones and not fully know that you're eating them. It's really that good. The fried chicken is to-die-for, but the grilled chicken is undeniably fantastic as well! The spice rub that they use (and clearly they marinate) is something else! I. LOVE. THEIR. CHICKEN. Now, the rest of their menu is kinda whatever, but the chicken is so good- I don't even need anything else! They used to serve the chicken with tortillas and their special sauce. These days you need to ask for that stuff and they charge extra for the sauce. The empanadas are somewhat dry. The Mac cheese tastes manufactured. The rice is rice. The refried beans are refried beans- if they could crack the code on the Popeyes recipe for the beans and rice they'd really be throwing me for a loop (wishful thinking). The drinks are either sodas or some fruit drinks- normal stuff...but they also have horchata (pretty good for a fast food joint)! I don't recommend anything but the chicken. The chicken is AMAZING. Go get you some, but before you so- go ahead and download the app so you can earn points. It's totally worth your time because you can easily order ahead and just pick-up- AND you're DEFINITELY going back. Want to try the chicken there? You can! They have parking and there's tables inside and outside to eat. I don't recommend eating outside because it's loud and right next to Jimmy Carter Blvd, but they have a decent seating situation inside for couples, families, and mid-larger groups. They offer free refills on all their drinks in-store and they play music (depends who's running the shift as to what the music choice is). I don't do chicken from anywhere except Popeye's or Pollo Campero. That has GOT to tell you SOMETHING. This place has some seriously good food! I need to start coming here more often instead of pouring money into other mediocre or subpar fast food chains. I have never had Guatemalan food, nor have I ever had Yucca, so it was cool to try both here for the first time. One thing I love about this place is the customer service. I have been here about twice so far and both times, there was a line at the drive-thru. However, that did not stop the workers from being friendly, patient, and respectful - night and day difference from the Popeye's on Norcross-Tucker Road. My fiancé and I tried the whole citrus grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, and Yucca fries so far. Everything is great! The chicken is so flavorful and juicy. The potatoes actually taste homemade with chunks still in it - so comforting! Finally, the Yucca fries kind of sneak up on you in their addictiveness. I would recommend getting extra sides, as they are a little smaller than their competitors' large sizes, but well worth it - quality over quantity any day. I had no idea that this chain was all over the US too, as they do not have it back home in Hawaii. I traveled more than forty miles to visit this location because I had received a coupon for my birthday. However, it took eight minutes for me to place my order and the staff appeared to be more interested in talking to each other than serving the customer. After I received my to-go order, I asked for some ketchup, but the lady at the counter only gave me four packets of ketchup for my twelve pieces of chicken. When I asked for more ketchup, she declined, and even the manager informed me that they don't provide ketchup for just ordering chicken. To make matters worse, when I checked my bag as I was driving away, I noticed that I was given only two napkins and my variety pack of chicken did not contain any chicken breasts, which are my favorite pieces. However, my most recent experience was deeply disappointing. After they made an error with my order, I called and was assured that the issue would be resolved. When I arrived to have it corrected, I was told to wait momentarily. Despite standing there for approximately 20 minutes, I was completely ignored. The staff did not acknowledge me and showed no intention of addressing my concerns.As someone who works as a cashier, I approached the situation with patience and understanding, knowing that mistakes happen. However, the blatant disregard and rude behavior I experienced were unacceptable. Been hearing good things from the locals (i.e. the LatinXs) about this joint and finally had 'em - they were as good as I've been hearing. The fried chix were good, and they looked and tasted like they use pressure frying techniques that makes the skins/outer flesh crisp yet chewy (in nice ways), the old ways I had growing up. Good sides that went good combos with the chix. They missed my yucca fries when the bag was opened, but I deserve that cuz I didn't check what I got when the order came out - a normal routine you should remember by when you are in GA. Pollo Campero is legit! I'm a Carolina girl and I've never even heard of this so we decided to try it on a whim. In this COVID world we must address safety! I'm not sure if the dining area is open but drive through is and all employees were gloves and masked. The food! I got the 3 price chicken fried with friends fries and empanadas. The chicken empanadas were WINNERS! They were very good!! Crust was flakey and the flavor of the chicken filling was on point. I wish I would have gotten the empanada meal. The fried chicken was also good! You can tell it's well marinated and the flavor is Latin American and pretty good. They also offer a grilled option that my husband got but he said it wasn't better than the fried. I got the fries as my side and would definitely pick another one my next visit. They offer horchata and some mango juice (really mango flavored soda I think) for drinks along with the other regular soda options. Overall this place is good! I would definitely be back! read more

I don't give fast food places 5 stars but this place is an exception to me. Its the Spanish Chick-fil-A. The drive-thru line swings around the place every time I'm in the area. And the chicken is delicious. I lean towards the fried chicken myself but grilled is an option. The sides are great too, with rice, beans, sweet plantains, yuca fries and the usual suspects like fries and mashed potatoes. You also get dinner rolls or tortillas with the family meals. The downside of Pollo Campero is the lack of more locations. It's the only fast food that I want to go to for good food and not out of necessity or time constraints. This place is great. I've always gone through the drive thru when visiting Pollo Campero. Today was a nice day, I didn't have any plans, and my son and I were riding to grab a bite. We decided to go and dine on the patio here and it was a great choice. I ordered the 3 piece grilled chicken with plantains and a mango drink, and my son ordered the chicken bites with fries and a soda. The cashier, Natalia, was super friendly. She brought our food out to us and it was fresh, hot, and delicious. The chicken is really flavorful with a slightly charred seasoned skin. They serve it with limes to squeeze over it and that takes it up a notch for sure. The plantains were cooked perfectly. They were sweet, but not too sweet, they weren't overlooked and mushy like a lot of places serve them. These were just right! I had the 1/2 fried chicken with campero beans and campero rice. If you do not like cilantro don't bother coming here. Luckily I do. The most dominant flavor you will get from the rice and beans is cilantro. Not a bad thing, but definitely the most prominent taste. It's one of those things that starts off as not bad but becomes way too much halfway through. The fried chicken was OK. Again, I was raised on southern food so I don't judge harshly. My Aunt Lola, God rest her soul, could blow anybody's fried chicken out of the water. I realize now that I was blessed to be able to eat her chicken. But she is no longer on this earth so we must settle for what we have. Their chicken is not calling me back for more... Don't let this review stop you from going as I didn't walk away hungry. Husband and I came here for late breakfast before a long walk with the dog on a trail. We chose to come here because it's an area we seldom come to and also this is a new place for us to try fried chicken. First, the parking here is easy, it has its own lot therefore no worries that you might not be able to find parking. Next there is outdoor seating. We brought our dog with us and if anyone knows, our dog is so big, he cannot be missed. Anyone can see him coming a quarter mile away. So if we can bring our 120lbs dog, all dogs are allowed. We sat outside on the patio, there are only 3 tables that seats 4 each, therefore, be prepared to wait or just go sit in the AC. As for the food, we ordered the fried chicken (dark meat please), the nuggets, and 2 chicken enpanadas. The fried chicken batter was super light, has a little bit of salt to it, the meat was moist. My meal came with 2 corn tortilla and 4 or 5 pieces of fried plantains. Besides it being moist, my chicken did not have the frozen taste. I did not eat the tortillas but the plantains were firm and sweet. Not burnt. I had a bite of the enpanadas, the pale looking flaky pastry was actually very good! It tasted better than it looked. I like the chicken filling, it had a little tang to the taste. Quite good to give the puff a lift! The nuggets would give Chik-fil-A a run for their money. These were size-able chicken pieces, the batter was light again and it was meaty. No processed fast food nuggets. Overall a 4 out of 5 stars, will definitely come back for more chicken. read more

Super surprised in all the right ways with this Latin Chicken Experience. Authentic in feel and decor and about as nice and service minded as I can expect a quick service establishment to be. I and my party of 12 (yes 12) were especially impressed with our server Ashlan. He was an octopus serving us and about 6 other tables with food delivery, a clean up after we made the mess, an extra chair, and a kind goodbye after we were done welcoming us back again. I was there last Sunday with 2 friends. I came today with my family and another family totaling 12. I can only wonder what next week holds.
