Great traditional fried chicken from the Central American country of Guatemala! Walking in really transports me to Guatemala. It's the same exact look as the restaurants back in the country. I see a few workers cleaning the tables and mopping the floor. In fact they constantly clean and the place really reflects well on their cleanliness. The fried chicken is fried fresh and doesn't come out oily. The seasoning is on point. Come when it's busier for the best experience, usually lunch time or early dinner. There are a number of good Latin sides to go with everything such as, rice and beans, tortilla, street corn salad, fried yuca, plantains, etc. You also have great Latin desserts like tres leches and flan. But the one thing to try with your meal is the traditional Horchata (rice and cinnamon drink). Try their Cole slaw. It's the freshest Cole saw I have had. Ordered 6 nuggets w/rice + 2 piece fried chicken w/plantains. One with roll, other with tortilla. Did not get rice, but apparently a double order of plantains and 2 rolls. Order took over an hour to arrive, so no point in calling about error. Nuggets were very basic, no flavor. Sauce was good. Fried chicken was good. Plantains were also good. I decided to try this place since they keep mailing coupons to my house and I live a few blocks away. This was the worse food ever. Gave me the most terrible stomach discomfort ever and I swear I got food poisoning because of how bad I felt. The chicken was DISGUSTING! I wouldn't feed this to my worse enemy. So Gross ! Pollo Campero is a Latin-style fried chicken fast food place. Apparently they're very popular in Latin America and other parts of the world. I remember long lines to get in when a franchise opened in West New York, New Jersey. I'm a fried chicken lover, and Pollo Campero's is damn good. I also do my best to not make a habit of ingesting fried things too often... but Campero is a weakness, and if eating this deliciously seasoned, juicy chicken is wrong, then I don't wanna be right. This is good fried chicken! Always seems fresh: Even though I'm typically here at weird hours, I have yet to have a dried out breast. Fast food brought to your table by staff(?). It's served on real plates & eaten with metal utensils(?)...no spork(?)...the manager comes around to check in on you and the state of the restaurant(?). Fast food blasphemy!!! I go with campero beans or yuca fries as the side and each is good. The staff seem friendlier than at your typical fast food spot. Now as with many other establishments in the neighborhood, it's a big help to be ready with your Spanish. I couldn't manage to get across the I wanted the "número uno con frijoles y tortillas"...but I ended up with the right stuff. Don't forget to stop at the salsa bar. We decided to try delivery from Pollo Campero after receiving a flyer in the mail. We placed our order online and received a confirmatory e-mail that the restaurant received the order and to track it, click on "track," which took us to a page saying it would be delivered by DoorDash with estimated delivery time of 6.05pm. Around 6.30pm the DoorDash driver called from the restaurant to say they did not have my order and that the restaurant only deals with Uber Eats, not DoorDash. I spoke with the manager who said they did not have my order and they don't use DoorDash. I explained I received an e-mail saying the restaurant received the order and DoorDash was the delivery method on the restaurant's website. After a little back and forth, the manager apologized for the "mix up" and said the order would be delivered by the DoorDash man. Around 7pm the DoorDasher made the delivery. The bulk of the order was incorrect. All meals had fries and dinner rolls, whereas one order was supposed to have plantains and a tortilla, another was to have mashed potatoes with gravy. One two-piece meal was supposed to be a breast and wing, instead we received a drumstick and a thigh. We attempted several times to call the restaurant but the line kept getting picked up as a fax call. We will never order from that location again and will forewarn our friends to stay away. read more

Best fried chicken hands down. I am not Latino and there are probably 20 chicken places closer to me than this place in West New York. I don't eat fried chicken too often but when I do I fight the traffic and double-parked cars on Bergenline Ave and go to this place. We always get the 8-piece meal and its more than enough for 3 adults. It comes with 2 big sides and corn tortillas. There is a dressing bar with plenty of salsa, chile sauces and peppers you can put into souffle cups to go. The chicken is tasty and tender. Tear off a piece of meat, put it in a warm tortilla and put some chile sauce on it and it is delicious. Price is very fair also. read more
