I just want to say they took the time to explain the order even in the drive-thru. Food was consistantly good.

I'm gonna start saying that most of the time they don't have cilantro sauce! And that makes me feel incomplete cause the food is good but without cilantro it's not really good! Service some times is not good, they close earlier than what the schedule says and the speakers to order by drive thru doesn't let you hear them! Between the long drive thru lines that take over 30 minutes to get through and the lack of customer service inside, I've decided to stop going. I absolutely love this place their food is always a yes from me because of it being a different alternative to the fast food that is harmful. My favorite part are their yuca bites which is fried yuca and their garlic sauce is always a must. I just moved to the area n went to Apollo Tropical for dinner. I ordered the same I always order, a chicken Caesar w chicken breast. This place is a total rip off. The salad is way smaller n the chicken was an ice cream scoop of chicken I left hungrier than I walked in. In Florida City n Homestead they serve you a big ration of chicken, not here. I ordered the tropical trio. Chicken, Pork, Ribs, with 2 sides. They were out of the Mac and Cheese. So my 2 sides were yellow rice with Veggies and Mash potatoes and gravy. My wife ordered Chicken breast platter with yellow rice and veggies and for a favorite she decided to get the fried plantains. Each came with a bread (dinner roll) and I ordered the Mojo Sauce and it was delicious and my wife got the guava bbq sauce. She said it was good. We didn't know they had a drive thru. And this was our very first time ever eating pollo tropical. We both really enjoyed it and will be back for sure. My sides were so good and the meat was pretty good too. 100% A+. Oh yeah and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They were knowledgeable about the sauces and very patience with us on ordering since we were new with the whole deal and all. Went in for lunch today and a white male that spoke perfect English took our order. Must have been a manager. Food was out in 2 minutes and was best chicken around. Sides and condiment sauces are great also. We noticed we were even eating on plates and had real silverware. They are expanding and hope the open 1 in our hood. 2 full meals & 2 sodas $17 and no tipping. Great value for such high quality food. read more

I am beyond appalled by the manager Marysleidy Dovale she is extremely unprofessional and incompetent. There was this wonderful young lady who was helping me and the manager started berating her infront of the other patrons. I have been in the service industry for over 15years and have never experienced this. If she is able to do this infront of the customers I can only imagine what she says am in the back. I am calling corporate to report her. There is no need to humiliate a young employee like that. Shame on you. This was not the first time a manager at this location has behaved rudely. If you like Caribbean food, this place will hit the spot. Has a wide assortment of sides like plantains, rices, beans, veggies. I got the 1/2 chicken meal and was very satisfied. My girl friends rice was cold but that comes with the territory since much of the sides are pre made. We also went in right before close. Been to this location three times now as well as others like Lauderdale and Naples. The food is always on point here at the Cape Coral store. Every time here it has been late dinners after 7:00 or 8:00 pm and it's always very busy with tables almost full as well as the parking lot. They usually have enough employees on duty so the tables get cleaned off fast enough to keep the flow going. I've been on a routine by ordering the 1/4 chicken with a couple sides and a drink from the self service dispensary. The chicken is always juicy and delicious. We did something different this last time and tried their pork ribs. The ribs were incredibly tasty but were smaller in real life than the overhead pictures portraying them to seem. Boiled Yucca, Sweet Plantains, and Yellow Rice with vegetables are the side items I most enjoyed. Make sure you bring some of their Cilantro Lime sauce to the table from the self serve bar. They have a hotter sauce too that will blow your hair back which is worth trying also. Two of us always leave here spending under $20 which is a great deal. My comment is solely based on customer service. We have found the evening crew to be incompetent with getting orders correct. If you are going through the drive- thru or doing carry-out, "check your food before leaving". Three different times, we have been shorted items. You need to check your food!!! We order the wrap combo--we only receive half of the wrap. The early day time crew seems to be fine. The food and service are better! But still check your food before you leave. I have read some of the other reviews about "bugs" in the food. If this happens to you, take a photo, then contact the health department of Lee County. Lee County will take your complaint seriously. read more

Just be careful about what time you get there. I really believe that if you get your order early, you are getting reheated leftovers from lunch. The last 2 times we went there, the chicken was as dry as a bone when we got home. I had the children's meal which came with a drink and a small cake, all this food for $15 and it gets brought to your table. We have always loved this place....delicious food and they always have menu changes with special items. The chicken is being grilled where you can see it and the Mojo pork is one of my favorites! BUT BUT BUT yesterday my daughter had almost finished her side Caesar salad & then found a HUGE LADY BUG in her bowl!!! YIKES! The biggest lady bug we have ever seen! We told the bus boy to show this to the manage & he shrugged & smiled and said a lady bug won't hurt you! We waited for a while and nothing happened so I went to the counter, not wanting to cause a scene with other customers up there. I told the girl at the counter who told the manager. he came out & apologized and said casually ...yes I've seen it before, it happens............??!! He offered a replacement or something else but we declined since my daughter ran to the bathroom to throw up. I asked for a refund for her dinner & he did so right away & apologized again. BUT it seemed to us that he was not surprised about the lady bug being in the lettuce and well, IT HAPPENS. HOW OFTEN I wondered? Pollo tropical has the BEST chicken ever. I've tried to clone the recipe at home, but have failed every time. Everything on their menu tastes like authentic Caribbean. You wouldn't even know that Pollo Tropical was a "fast food" restaurant. Their black beans and rice are perfect, every time I eat there I buy an extra large side of black beans and throw them in my freezer so that I can serve them at home to make an ordinary meal, extraordinary! My only complaint is that I wish a location was closer to me! I live about a half of hour away from the nearest pollo, which makes it hard for me to get my Pollo Tropical fix. This Pollo Tropical location has a neon sign in the front, proclaiming that they're open late. One recent night I drove up to the place and the place looked open. That bright neon sign was on, the store lights were on, it all looked normal. I drove up to the box where you place your order and I was greeted by a voice that offered me something. I politely declined and then waited for a person to tell me to go ahead with my order. I waited, and I waited, and I waited. All the while, I'm looking at the car ahead of me. Obviously, they're open, there's another car here. Finally that car pulls away and leaves. I'm still here, waiting. Isn't anyone going to talk to me? I wait a little longer and then pull my car around to the window. Eventually, someone inside notices me, and mouths to me "we're closed". No sorry. No chance for me to ask why they still have all the lights on? Why the place still looks open? They couldn't tell me that they were closed five minutes before when I pulled up to the order station? Just when you thought it couldn't get any better it does! You now order your food and they bring it to you and serve it on nice plates. I tried the chicken tropichop for the first time and it was soooo good! My son had the beans and rice with Chicken and cheese and it came with juice and ice cream for $4.99.
