Staff was friendly, but while in the drive thru they had an issue with the tablet they use to take orders. I'll never understand why they make staff stand in the sun to take the order instead of the typical drive thru setup with the speaker. It's so hot and the poor staff had to stand out there with a smile and carrying a tablet... I'd like to see the owners do that for 5 minutes. Treat your employees better. This is for most polio locations, not just this one. I think the chicken I had last night was dry..... it almost tasted maybe a day old or stayed out for too long. The sides were good no complaints there. But what really made the stars go down was the customer service, attitude with a side of get out of here. As soon as I walked in I was acknowledged but you know how, they kept staring at me. Okay so I've been coming to this pollo tropical since they opened because I live in one of the neighborhoods right next to it. The quality of service has declined through the years. First they forgot to pack one of the meals I had ordered through the drive through so once I got home and saw what I was missing I had to drive back to get what food was missing. secondly I never thought I'd have to start checking how much meat they give me. I ordered a regular tropichop and when I got back home I looked at it and it literally only had 3 pieces of steak. Now I always order the steak tropichop but to give me so little of the steak is insulting it's like they were running out and just gave me what scraps were leftover. Having to write awful reviews is not what I fill my day with. But this Pollo tropical should be closed. The health department needs to really step in and investigate this Pollo tropical. The food is so greasy that you can't help but wonder how old it really is this in particular is about the pork and fries (see the pictures that are attached). Except for the cashier who was a male white Hispanic and very young looking the people on the grill were sloppy the older woman who was at the counter was downright rude, sloppy and dirty. This is an older woman with like a reddish hairnet with very fine hair under the hairnet Hispanic darker shade skin and was very offended because all she wanted to do was speak Spanish and we did not. Without a fail all the containers that she packed or was given for her to cover were covered in correctly and the beans and the pork not only of myself but even other customers and Uber drivers were left unsecured. I seriously do believe that I will forward this message to the health department this place is beyond unacceptable. I am extremely disappointed the rice was below any standards the pork was marinating in at least a half a cup of oil and the beans were tasteless. The french fries I ordered looked as if they had picked them up with their own hands and threw the scraps in a bag also drenched in grease. Whomever was the female employee taking orders at 1020pm on May 4th, 2022 at this location is literally the rudest person I've ever encountered in any service industry experience, ever. I will preface this by saying I usually only leave positive reviews. This female employee started out taking our order by saying "Are you going to order anything? After I told her to give me one moment. in a super rude manner. I chocked it up as someone having a bad day and was polite with her. After trying to clarify what items that had available to order, she became increasingly more rude as she explained them. As I was trying to see with my wife and son if that is all they wanted, she demanded over and over "is that it?? Is that it?!" And sighed multiple times out loud. In the rudest possible way. I was more dumbfounded than anything to experience this level of condescending rudeness and unprofessionalism. It was insane. I asked for her first name when I got to the window because she wasn't the employee there and the male employee didn't disclose it so I could report her to management. He said he would "let the manager know", which who knows if he actually did. He said the female employee was new. This sole employee and experience will never make me come back again. I cannot believe someone like this with their piss poor attitude slipped through the interview process. I know 100% that I am not the only person that has probably experienced that type of behavior with this individual. What a shame as I actually liked this location until now. Never again. I have done drive thru, walk up, curbside and mobile order, trying to find a way on how to get my food quickly and most importantly avoiding a rude team member. This is my neighborhood Pollo Tropical and I've been coming here for years but the service and customer service has went EXTREMELY downhill! The employees are very rude and are very lazy to walk away from their station to get sauces when asked for through the drive thru window. Where do I began with the food. They literally threw my bread on top of the rice and beans containers without bagging it. Very UNSANITARY ! They've now even added new sides like regular cut fries,mash n gravy,coleslaw, mac n cheese,and corn casserole. I like these new options as sometimes I get tired of the norm(I grew up on rice and beans) of white rice and black beans. I dined at 10:29 pm which I understand you are closing soon, but I felt very unwanted by the service provided. I first asked for the new crispy Tropichop and Luis said that they didn't have. That's fine. I ordered a regular tropichop and wanted to add tomatoes. No tomatoes available. This was frustrating. The last straw was then I asked Luis for Cilantro Garlic since this is my wive's favorite. He looked at me and said we don't have. I was astounded but something told me this was not true. I pulled around and went inside the store and I got my own cilantro garlic from the salsa bar. I told the person taking the order outside I didn't want peppers and he put peppers on my order. I also double checked the order with the person at the window and he also said there was no peppers. I also asked for tomatoes on both tropichop and got no tomatoes. The person outside definitely needs to get trained again because clearly he doesn't pay attention to the customer when they say their order. Not to mention the only item available is tropichop bowls. I visited the pollo tropical in homestead while I was out running errands, hoping to grab a quick, healthy bite to eat. I was contemplating turning around when i realized I walked in during the afternoon lunch rush. Within a few minutes my order was taken by the manager, who was running the cash register and supporting his team during the lunch rush. I witnessed him verbally encourage his staff and create a positive work environment. The resturant was clean and my food was deliscious. It was wonderful to see a staff work so wonderfully as a team. We just landed at the Miami Airport and still had an hour drive to Key Largo before rest could be allowed, so we thought we would stop somewhere for an energy fix. We passed McDs, Arby's, and Applebee's with disinterest, and then saw "Pollo Tropical." Tropical Chicken? Intriguing.. I didn't realize chicken were now associated with the tropics. In any case, being from the Midwest, we never heard of it, and thus had to go and try something new. Initial thought when I saw the outside of the building was "Oh, it's the In-and-out of fast food chicken!" Impressively enough, their menu was quite extensive (for fast food - okay, now I'm thinking Culvers of fast food chicken) with wings, ribs, pork sandwiches, sides, dessert, smoothies, family-sized portions, and more. We got the chicken quesadilla combo with curly fries and a soda, along with a grilled chicken chipotle sandwich and fried Yuma's, apparently a "tropical favorite." This came to about $10 And it was thoroughly disappointing. The quesadilla was ok but very small; the grilled chicken was too dry and bland; and the tropical favorite fried yumas? They tasted like hash browns with slightly more texture. I didn't understand it. Aside from the food, I didn't get a good vibe from the staff - most didn't seem very experienced. The manager was there working the only cash register and had pointed out mistakes/given direction to at least two other employees while we were in line to order. A nice, clean bathroom could have convinced me to increase my rating... Though it was clean, they were out of soap, which only further makes me questions their hygiene, and they were down to their last 10 sheets of TP! The place wasn't even busy! Because I wasn't satisfied with my meal I thought I would treat myself to a smoothie. The sign looked awesome, and can one really mess up a smoothie? I asked the manager what was better - the cream or fruit-only smoothie, and he asked if I wanted the mango flavored one, and then in cream or fruit? Um, isn't that what I asked? Not helpful. I ended up getting the creamy mango and again was thoroughly disappointed. Very watered down and didn't taste mango-y at all; what a waste of $3. Conclusion?
