Pork Cutlet with mashed potato and house salad

I was surprised to come into the restaurant on a Friday night and see it empty! I am glad I came here because the food is absolutely delicious. I will definitely be coming again and will tell my friends to try! We got the potato pancakes, polish combination (kielbasa, pierogies, stuffed cabbage), and meat pierogies for apps. Entrees included pork and chicken cutlets and cutlet de volly. For dessert we had the chefs blintzes with cheese - one with blueberry and one with strawberry. Highly recommend everything!

Absolutely delicious from beginning to end. The 3 of us have very different tastes and we ALL were so happy. Already planning our next time.

Pierogis get 5 stars! Best I've ever had. We had the mixed serving - potato-cheese, potato-mushroom and potato-spinach. One order friend and the other boiled (SERVED W/ FRIED ONIONS & SOUR CREAM OR APPLE SAUCE) we chose the sour cream. We also ordered the house salad which came served as an array of different colorful and tasty choices. EVERYTHING was absolutely delicious. The ambiance is cute and cozy - lots of free pure oxygen with all the plants around which made it feel very organic. Service was friendly. We will be back!

Polonica is great. Hands down a great option for comfort food in the Bay Ridge area. They are very consistent with their food quality and service. Portions are great and the menu is expansive and worth exploring. The restaurant has great veggie options as well as all the Polish classics. I have been coming here for a while. Here's what I usually get: House Salad (don't miss this) Mushroom & potato pierogi (served with sautéed onions) Red Borscht With Croquet (chicken croquet) Beverage: Kompot - Homemade fruit punch. + A blintz if I feel like waddling home Think crepe with filling - super yummy and sharable

Small unique restaurant with amazing food. The service is very fast. The barley soup was a hearty filling soup. The pierogis fried were a crisp crunchy bite every time. Lots of vegetarian options. Will be coming back to try more.

The service was good and the food was yummy. Decent price for dinner. Nice cute spot in Bay Ridge.

    Stuffed cabbage to go.

Known for the best Perogi in Brooklyn. Many more traditional polish dishes on the menu. So many soup choices all homemade....Barley, Mushroom, Cucumber , Vegtable, Ukrainian Borscht, Bean, Tomato, Sauerkraut (!!!!!), chicken noodle, Red Borscht with dumplings or potato croquet, White Borscht & Tripe. Combination platters offer a variety of tasting combos worth trying! You will not be disappointed & will look forward to many return visits.

    Rude message from the owner.

The food doesn't taste fresh, is not great and it is pre-prepared. And have a rude service.

From the moment we arrived, the service was flawless -- warm, incredibly attentive, and perfectly paced. The refreshments were so great for a celebration. The Cocktails: Expertly crafted and sophisticated. It was refreshing to have drinks that were perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. The coffee was served alongside dessert, it was rich and the perfect finishing touch to a wonderful meal. While the Filet Mignon was a popular and well loved choice among our group, and the Meatballs were universally raved about for being truly excellent, the real showstopper for me was the Chicken Parmesan. I don't typically order steak, so I was delighted by this choice. The cutlet was impressively sized yet elegantly thin, showcasing the high quality of the chicken. It was served with a side of creamy mashed potatoes, which was such a comforting and delicious pairing. It did remind me of visiting Germany believe it or not like a schnitzel style cutlet but still very italian if that makes any sense. If you visit, you simply cannot miss the fried eggplant appetizer with burrata. It is divine! This dish alone would be the perfect excuse to drop by for a casual dinner date or a "girls' night out" centered around appetizers, wine, and to try a dessert. I would absolutely return!

The fried calamari could've been less oily, as this took away from the crunch; also slightly overcooked. Baked clams were decent. Salmon was cooked to perfection. Pizza was great! They reheated for us, since our group was too busy chatting. Desserts - phenomenal! Drinks- ehh. Brunch menu - French toast was decent. The salmon over hash brown , was lacking a touch of something , couldn't pinpoint what was lacking. Chicken and waffles, decent, wasn't the best I've had. Service- jonathan was our waiter during brunch and also our bartender. He's GREAT! During service dinner, we had a female waitress and I felt she lacked attention to details and couldn't flag her down when we wanted something. Overall, service is a hit or miss , I guess? Steak with white american cheese with the works (onions, peppers, and hot peppers) There's an option for mayo, I'm not sure who's getting mayo on their cheesesteak but hey, you do you! The owner comes to the front and I tell him I saw this spot on social media. Everything looks amazing, I can't wait to try my sandwich. How long have you been in business? I'm expecting 18 months, he tells me over 30 years?? Wow! Not only is Philadelphia Grille a sandwich shop but they're also serving pizza for decades. I must point out, Philadelphia Grille is a very small spot. Walking inside, you're faced with a small counter. Once you have your food, they have tables and chairs in a covered lanai. Italian bread from Brooklyn wrapping up a cheesy meat fest. Philadelphia Grille did everything right in Brooklyn! I can't wait to come back and try the roast pork. The restaurant is not overly expensive -- the $65.00 lunch bill below suggests a high-end selection and/or apps. I had a pineapple mint lemonade, sea bass on saffron risotto, a lovely salad topped with potato gnocchi, and cake dessert for $85 inclusive of 20% tip and tax. Nearly everything tasted fresh and homemade. Worth it. If this were served in Restaurant Row, the bill would be $40 more and the food not nearly as good. Because Beets & Carrots offers something rare and startlingly somehow in decline: food that tastes like food the body happily accepts as such. They serve meals that stand out simply because they taste like food. It was nice to dine outside the home feeling confident no digestive issues, lethargy, brain fog, bloating, etc were around the corner. You can tell that someone health conscious who cares about how ingredients show up in the meal is in the kitchen, someone who thinks food is both very fun and very serious. Least favorite: The lemonade. Mostly personal preference here, as I prefer a much tarter, less watery lemonade with higher lemon:water volume ratio. But I think most people would like it; I would get it again. Favorite: Both the entree and salad (which surprised me with a deliciously simple horseradish dressing) were great, but the bass wins in my book. Skin crisped to perfection...very flavorful fish and a great cut...creamy, perfect risotto. I appreciated that the risotto wasn't too salty as well.

Home is where the heart is and there is nothing quite like a home cooked meal. I have to say most Bay Ridgians enjoy dining local and in our neighborhood. I love to support neighborhood gems because majority of restaurant owners here, love their clients, establish loyalty through cooking delicious food and provide consistent great customer service. I was in the mood for a " comfort food"breakfast, you know, eggs, avocado, mozzarella, tomato, deliciousness and I found it on the menu simply named "Breakfast Sandwich". Which consists of voila: Mozzarella, avocado, tomato jam, arugula, crispy bacon, dijonaise, sunny side up egg between multigrain toasts. I ordered this sans the bacon ( requested turkey bacon which they do not have). What arrived in my plate was this decadent open faced egg sandwich that looked delectable.. and was!! Let's first talk about the wheat toast: I tasted it naked and it simply melted in my mouth. The ingredients worked well together, perfect synchronicity. I used one half of the toast to sop up any fallen ingredients. Highly recommend! For a drink, I wanted something a bit different, thus, ordered the Mango Mint Peach tea, fruity with a hint of mint. Loved it and went well with the Sammy! There are lovely options besides breakfast sandwiches like quinoa, oatmeal, granola, pancakes, French toast.. breakfast is served all day and lunch is served @noon. The chicken liver mousse is a must order and something I get every time I come here, whether it is this location or the Park Slope one. The mousse itself is rich, creamy, savory, and packed with umami. I just wish it came with something better on the side. The pita was a little underwhelming and was not warmed all the way through. The crispy potato tart was excellent. The potato was super crispy, and a bite with the salmon, egg, sour cream, and potato together was perfect. The lightly dressed arugula helped cut through the richness and made for a nice palate cleanser. The burger looked pretty simple when it arrived, but it ended up being surprisingly good. The patty was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Overall, a great neighborhood spot and one I would happily come back to.
