Wow this happened to be a real poor class of ownership I have ever been through. I was missing two shirts from my routine cleaning, went back to ask and the owner was there so I thought I was going to get this resolved as soon as possible. Well, she basically said, and I quote "Maybe there in my trunk of my car" I have an Audi in immaculate shape with my trunk in immaculate condition to assume I may have a messy trunk was an insult and basically stereotyping me. She would not take any ownership nor go to the back and see if the shirts may be back there, all I got is maybe it's all my fault. Here's the kicker though I even would bring back the hangers that they would give me to help her company on not having to buy all the time. I will file a BBB report just for the simple fact that I use them strictly for work and I paid a lot for them. Just sad that's all-poor ownership. read more

If dry cleaners were colleges, Broadway Cleaners would be Stanford. They are polished, they do an excellent job, and you PAY FOR IT. We take our extra important (or difficult) stuff here. Because sometimes you want to make absolutely sure it will be done right. But sometimes Berkeley will do just fine, which is why we take the reminder of our clothes to Poly Cleaners just down the road. Otherwise, our monthly dry cleaning bill would double. And Poly Cleaners does all the basics very well, thank you. (P.S. The hours at Broadway Cleaners are also inconvenient. They close at 6 pm on weekdays and 2 pm on Saturday. I agree with several of the previous reviews. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! When I took my suit I didnt check if all the stains went away but they certainly didnt say anything either. When I put on my suit I realized all 3 pieces had stains that didnt go away! I went back and was accused of having made those stains since then. The owner offered to try to get rid of those stains again but not for free, for half the price I paid the first time. Back 3 days later the stains are still there. 1- they dont check if the stains went away or not, check yourself 2- the lady at the counter is very rude 3- quite expensive You should look for another cleaner... read more

I dreaded bringing my inexpensive area rug that was heavily stained with red wine to be cleaned, knowing that the stains were all my carelessness and that I had probably made the damage worse by my attempts to remove the stains. DO NOT TAKE YOUR WEDDING GOWN HERE !! Listen to the reviews and save yourself a trip! I called earlier in the week and explained my wedding is next week and the girl assured me if I brought it on Friday they could have it back by Monday . When I walked in the only attendant was talking to an unmasked lady and kept on talking without assisting me . She finished her conversation and a couple minutes later addressed me . I explained and she said "no we can't do that . " I said I called earlier and you guys assured me you could . She then asked to look. I showed her my gowns and she proceeded to touch them with her dirty hands with dirt under her fingernails and said " ok fine". I asked if they regularly worked with wedding gowns , specifically silk and the other one is a crepe and satin blend . She said yes and went and pulled some dresses that were all lace and tulle. I said ok, even though this is not what I meant . She asked my last name . My last name is hyphenated and I gave her my full last lame . She only took the first part of my last name - martinez and not the last part. I asked her to take my full last name and she said martinez is fine . Which if you know it is not as it's as common as the name smith . I told her it makes me uncomfortable to leave very expensive dresses if I don't take my full last name and she said "fine then you can take your dresses if you're uncomfortable ". I said ok and told her I should have listened to the reviews on Yelp. To which she said " yes you should have ". I asked her name and she gave me Maria Martinez, who knows if it's her real name . But I did call the bridal shop I purchase my dress from and they recommended elegance preserved in Palo Alto. They are featured by the knot and have won awards . Take your dresses there !! read more

The people who work the counter are fantastic. We got a handwritten note card with a free offer shortly after our first order. They offered my dog treats when he was with me. They exemplify the kind of courteous service that makes you want to be a loyal customer. Unfortunately, the people pressing the shirts regularly destroyed our buttons. The buttons at the collar and on the sleeves of dress shirts were frequently cracked, mis-shapen, and in need of replacement. It affected almost every shirt they handled. This cleaners is awesome. The staff all wear a "uniform" which I thought was very professional. The seamstress fixed a hole that my pet pig made in one of my daughters favorite sweaters. I thought I would have to throw it away but it was fixed nicely. I loved that they were actually happy to see me when I walked in, not like other cleaners where I am just another person... I left a t-shirt and a denim jacket to get washed, I had to wait a week before getting them back and when I got home I noticed black stains all over them. Terrible! I had been using BC for 6+ months & just had the worst experience and will never go back. I dropped off 2 shirts for dry cleaning a week before Covid hit so it took me 3+ weeks to come back. I try to pick up my shirts and they can't find them, search all over and nothing. I'm told to come back after they look more. I go back 2 days later and still nothing.. now they are asking for my original receipt which i don't have or if i'm sure i didn't already pick them up. i ask them if it shows that i picked it up & no they don't have any receipt. Front desk tells me the owner(Marti) will need to look for the receipt manually and that she will call me. Now i'm pissed but ok, it's a global pandemic so i'll give slack. I then call and front desk girl tells me that the owner(Marti) will call me.... never calls. A couple days later (not it has been over a week and the owner never called me with any updates). I go back had found the shirts. They blamed it all on a new worker who had folded my dry cleaning and put them in a pile they never thought to look in. Ok poor customer service and no communication with the owner that was promised, i'd expect some sort of discount as a "sorry". NOPE they charged me FULL PRICE! I have to update this. All the good points from my last review are negated by one thing: I just took out the sleeping bag from the carry bag for the first time to pack it for a backpacking trip and found not only a hole in the bag, but that all the down from that segment of the bag was gone. The bag is unusable, and I can't see how the cleaner could have missed about a gallon in lint volume from the cleaning, but nobody informed me of the damage when I picked it up. Took a suit to get altered and the woman said no problem and quoted me $130 to do the job... got a call 3 days later from them saying the lady quit to go work in san jose so they have to outsource my suit and it would now cost me $250+ for it and they argued with me when I said I was quoted $130 and I'm not paying the additional cost because she quit...that is not the customers fault to pay the difference or something happening within the business so they just kept saying that's the new price and no one will touch it for less.... I went back to pick up my suit and took my business elsewhere.... long story short this place is horrible at customer service and working with anyone. ..GO TO MAGIC ALTERATIONS down the way on el camino across from safeway for better and reasonable service...I paid way way less then the stupid $250+ Broadway Cleaners wanted. read more

My first time using Broadway cleaners on some 12 yr old Roman Shades that needed new strings and cleaning. Broadway was unable to re-string the blinds for me because they didnt have the proper parts, the shades were sold old. What happen next is what I call outstanding customer service going above and beyond for the customer. Pedro from Broadway Cleaners called me asked me if these were customs made blinds, they were, he said he wanted to make a phone call and get back to me. To my surprise Pedro called Levlor and gave them my information and found that my blinds were covered under warranty becasue the parts to restring were no longer available. Pedro got me NEW FREE BLINDS after 12years,on his own intiative, no one asked him to, he did it to HELP a customer!! I was astonished, seriously in today socieity normally I am met by customers service people who have the attitude that I am privledged to business with their establishment, but here was someone OLD SCHOOL, who knew the value of a customer, who under stood if there were no customers there was no business. I have been telling two, three and four friends of the quality of service I recieved from Pedro and Broadway Cleaners I just installed my new blinds and they look beautiful and fresh.... I had my wedding dress cleaned and hemmed here. I had explained to them i wanted the outermost layer cut to the same length as the skirt but they cut it much shorter. I used them between my two weddings and the first tailor I used for the original wedding in Chicago was much more attentive to detail but also more expensive-- lesson learned I guess. read more

I took in my favorite cashmere sweater after it had a devestating accident with my puppy (she chewed off all the buttons and chewed big holes where the buttons were). They were able to repair the holes, put on new buttons and left it with the SMALLEST crescent where one hole was! you can't even notice it unless it's pointed out. The cleaning of my sweater cost more than the repair~ which was not a big deal since I was just SO GRATEFUL to get the favorite sweater back. They kept me well informed of the progress. They are a bit hard to find but Broadway Window Treatment carries them and has samples there at the dry cleaners. Start to finish, everything went well. One of our blinds needed restringing and since we purchased them twelve years ago from a small vendor, I knew I had a problem when my calls weren't being returned. I was at a loss as to what to do next since I called several blind companies and was told that if I did not purchase from them, they could not help. Was I to buy new blinds for such a simple fix? Apart from a frayed string, they were in perfect condition. I continued with my internet research and stumbled across Broadway Cleaners. This dry cleaning service located in Redwood City offers a variety of specialized services and restringing blinds is one of them. Who would have known? Pedro told me that it would cost $85 for a service call, i.e. to have him come out to our home, take the blinds down, restring and return them. We could easily save this fee if we brought them into the shop ourselves. So, I arranged a time to call Pedro where he would step my husband and I through the process. Despite his help, we could not release the bracket (ours opened outwards and not downwards as it turned out). Luckily we lived close and being a really nice guy Pedro jumped into his car and took them down for us and waived the service fee. All I had to do was pick them up, and having seen how the bracket worked putting them up again was not a problem. Pedro is knowledgeable, professional and efficient. For example, he called me the next day to tell me we could continue with restringing as planned, but that we should rather have them sent back to the manufacturer and have some plastic parts replaced so that further damage to the new strings could be avoided. I would highly recommend Broadway Cleaners! All in all, the process was inexpensive and painless. The hardest part was the internet research to find them. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER and DISHONEST !! I was there on Saturday and was apalled at how I was treated by the Owner- Marti. I was given a ticket for both items that stated I owed $15 dollars at the time of pick-up. I was very specific when I drop my stuff off that the amount indicated was the amount I would be charged. Once I got there they said my total was $21 and the ticket was changed. I showed them my ticket and said that was not that amount I was told. She ( the owner) said that they decided that the alterations took more work and that it would cost more. I said that I should have been notified before the job was completed. I had also brought in some other stuff to be altered. The owner- Marti garbbed my sweater and throw it at me and said pay me $15 and get your sweater out of here- I don't want your business. We had Broadway clean for us for more than a year. They had two challenges but the one now lost us as a customer. They ruined two polo shirts of my husbands. The color was ruined by a bad cleaning. We went to them to talk about it and they denied it was their issue. Instead of saying we will take care of it, and refunding our money for the shirts they denied any problem being theirs. They said it was my husband's sweat that changed the color when it was cleaned. They also have been ruining buttons on my son's collared shirts and when we asked them to replace them they did some but not all. So they have now lost a great monthly customer who will be taking their business elsewhere. read more

Where's the sixth star when I need it. My daughter (12) sewed herself a dress is silk taffeta and then realized the fabric was stained. Our San Carlos cleaner tried to get the stains out, but they gave up. Broadway Cleaners was recommended to me by the bridal salon in San Carlos. I dropped it off with some extra fabric, and they tried their solvents which also didn't work. They took it to another cleaner who uses a different solvent! Who does that? We actually used the services of Broadway Window Treatments within Broadway Cleaners, twice. The first time we had to replace the blinds for one of our windows in the sun room. Pedro came out, measured, ordered the blinds and came back to install them within the time frame he had given us. When we needed a custom sized wood valance over our bedroom window, we naturally called on Pedro again and once more we were very pleased with the work he did. He even pointed out a slight scratch in the paint of the wood, which we didn't even notice, and ordered a fill stick from the factory for us and delivered in person when it arrived.
