I decided to have pasta for Christmas dinner. I'd had the afredo from Pomdori before and it was great so I ordered a full tray of chicken broccoli alfredi and a full tray of meat Lasagna. The lasagna was good. The afredo was missing sauce. I didnt think to check it before I put it in the oven but when I took it out there was no sauce whatsoever. I don't know why I revisit this place as a local. 2 sandwiches and 1 side order for over $50 for take out. No napkins in the bag, horribly made food. Toasted doesn't mean burnt to a crisp. Whole slices of chewy bacon in a sub? That makes sense. BBQ sauce doesn't mean drowned and bathed in it. It means an ounce or 2. Who's ordering a sugar sandwich? A friend and I ate at Pomodori today for the first time. We were very happy we gave it a try. The restaurant & restrooms were very clean. The service was excellent; the staff was great in answering our questions regarding their menu and offerings. Our order was brought to the table for us. The food was excellent; we had a Super Roast Beef Plate with Fries and Onion Rings, and the 2nd party had a Steak and Cheese sub with onion rings on the side. Priced very reasonable, we plan to go back again and I want to say it's worth the trip to stop in and eat at Pomodori. I also told the staff how good they and the food was. read more

Our family has been consistently visiting Pomodori's for several years. We find the pizza and roast beef to be nice treats at the end of a busy day. Well, tonight I ordered a small steak tip salad. When I opened the bag, I was shocked to see the smallest $12.55 salad ever. I truly thought it was a mistake. Most side salads dwarf my little container of lettuce. I will visit Pomodori's again, but will stay away from all their salads. We really like their pizza, their subs, their Greek soup, and their italian dishes. The owner, Peter is a terrific guy who hires local young peopla, can supports many causes. I was excited to check out the replacement for Courtyard Roast Beef, which was kind of a Newburyport institution. Unfortunately I came away a bit disappointed. I'll start with the good: The pizza was good, fresh tasting and well made. The interior is awesome, definitely a huge improvement from the last place. There's like 6 TVs or something which is kind of funny for a smaller place but it's not necessarily a bad thing. Now for the negatives. I ordered a buffalo chicken salad, and got a chicken kebob salad. It was like that on the receipt too so seems like they didn't pay attention. I wouldn't really mind but the salad was quite mediocre. Not that a salad from a New England pizza place is ever spectacular, but they were a bit stingy with everything except the iceberg lettuce. The fries were the worst part though. Super undercooked with no salt. I understand this was one of their first days being open but it's pretty easy to tell when fries aren't cooked. I'll be giving this place another try in the future, and hopefully they'll have worked out the kinks. read more

I'm a regular at Pomodori HOWEVER, I'm very turned off by their payment process where you're shown a screen with different amounts that you can tip the register person and there is no option for no tip. You have to tell the person ringing up your order that you chose not to tip. It's awkward and why should i be expected to tip someone just for ringing up my order? Just stopped in for a quick lunch. Got the Greek salad with chicken. Could not even eat it. The pieces of lettuce were so large (4-6"), wasn't given a plate and the chicken was served in tender sized pieces. The single pepper was also about 10" long. OK, got a plate. The dressing wasn't Greek, I asked about it. They said it was house Greek. Awful. There were two, yep, two kalamata olives, two grape tomatoes and 95% lettuce leaves. Took the salad home, added kalamata olives, some more feta and real Greek dressing. Did the trick. Not worth $14 for lettuce and a couple pieces of chicken. Won't be back. I'd of thought there's some sort of quality control that not only takes the labels off, but also washes the pepper. So did they wash the pepper, probably not. Was almost positive I already wrote a review for this place. It was witty and profound but boiled down to the opinion that Pomodori was the Courtyard in a nice new wrapper (without the seafood salad I used to get at the Courtyard...it's all coming back to me). Really makes me wonder if reviews are being taken down without notice. Believe me, it hurt to write that first review because I so much wanted it to be better. It was also a 2 or 3 star review from what I recall. Read the 3rd paragraph for why it's a one now. Things may have changed, but when we went about 8-12 months ago the eggplant parm grinder had enough grease to quiet a Commuter Line train and there was something else that was not good but I can't remember it now. I know for sure that I never planned on going back because there just wasn't any reason to, there are enough options in town. Actually now I recall giving the place a break on the first review because it was new and it probably deserved a second chance. Anyway, overall not a great eating experience though the staff and interior were an upgrade to the Courtyard...then again, the cafeteria and staff at Sing Sing would probably be an upgrade to Courtyard. That's not really true, the Courtyard folks were OK. What had me revisit this, and what may have me revise my rating to a one is my daughter's report that the school lunches this place provided were a problem. Granted, this happened on only one occasion (that I know of, I'm just hearing about it) but we paid $7 for a Friday lunch program that they run with a local school and our daughter was apparently supposed to get a simple chicken, broccoli and rice dish but ended up with only cold rice and some kind of totally frozen fruit that wasn't supposed to be totally frozen. Okay, after writing that I'm dropping it to a one star because the lunch thing really gets my goat. If there's new information on lunchgate I'll adjust the rating. read more

I used to stop at the rotary to get a Super Roast Beef sandwich when it was called Courthouse Subs and it was always pretty good. But apparently, I hadn't been there in awhile because not only did the name change to POMODORI the entire decor did as well - a beautiful stylish new building which was spotless inside and breathtaking out. BUT, the BEST WAS YET TO COME!! I was welcomed by a young waitress at the counter who asked if I wanted to eat inside or out and I sat inside at the counter window seat and within 10 minutes she delivered my Super Roast Beef sandwich with cheese on an onion roll with a delicious barbecue sauce, tomatoes and a little mayo. I can honestly say it was the BEST SUPER ROAST BEEF SANDWICH I'VE EVER HAD! The Roast beef was tender and rare and the onion roll was fresh and slightly toasted and dripping with flavor! I frequent this place at least once a week. Today I ordered a TUNA MELT... This is a sandwich that has melted cheese on it. I got it home and it is a TUNA sandwich with bent cheese.. MELT is like a GRILLED CHEESE. I was pretty frustrated since I have a menu that said it was 7.25 and they said it was 9:45 with chips I paid 12 something... Ok food is expensive, BUT the manager was an A H. HE WAS RUDE AND HAD A LYNN FLARE ABOUT HIM... We are going through the curbside pick-up because we don't have a choice,and when you call in a order and they repeat it back to you and you still don't get what you ordered' it can be very annoying. I ordered salads with special things on them. I picked them up around 2ish knowing we were eating it around 4ish. I take the food out to set it up and its not what I ordered. Now at this point I call because 1: I was upset & 2 I had asked AGAIN for a receipt telling me how much I spent and of course didn't get that either again. So I call this time and tell them this and she wanted me to drive back and get the right meal which I didn't think I should have. They need to recheck orders if there are incompetent people working there. read more

I'd love to give this place a better review. It's another I've been a big fan of the all the Pomodori restaurants for years. The food has the potential to be outstanding. Their calzones, specialty pizzas and salads are great at the Ipswich and Georgetown location. Newburyport has been open for some time and hasn't been able to figure it out. My issue is with the delivery, takeout and price. They seem to have a lot of staff turnover. I do not want to pick on the poor kids that work there but they almost never get the order right in Newburyport. I'm usually hungry and say 'Oh, it's only pizza'. But when I consider how much I had spent there, I'm pretty dissatisfied and definitely disappointed. Super Bowl Sunday 4 of the 5 things we ordered were wrong. The prices are high. Then there is a delivery fee that does not go to the driver (I know because I ask). So unless you want to punish the teenage driver this, you end up paying double tip. I feel like that's so sleazy. So, I'd recommend the Ipswich and Georgetown stores but stay clear of Newburyport. This isn't the Courtyard! Welcome to 2020 super clean and modern, great TV's line the walls making it a super nice spot to sit an eat.. I've been to the Pomodori's in Ipswich which is on point ,so I expected the same in Newburyport and that's what I got ..The Greek chicken Lemon soup still is my favorite followed by BBQ steak tips cooked perfectly over an APlus greek salad.. The first time I went here it was pretty decent. I got the Cesar wrap plus a side of fries and garlic bread. The garlic bread wasn't great- soggy and lacking in garlic flavor. The fries were good and the wrap was nice and full and worth the price. I went back yesterday to get another Cesar wrap and there was barely anything in it. It was supposed to be my dinner and I paid $8 for barely any food. Pretty disappointing. They've done a great job on the building, it looks amazing. Delicious Christmas night buffet catered by Pomodori. Not having tried it before we took a "chance" when another local favorite had closed their holiday ordered earlier this year. I read the help reviews and went for it. The Chicken Cutlet Parmesam, Meatballs, and Chicken, Ziti and Broccoli were delicious! The food and service here and the ambiance is always so amazing and excellent! I have gotten food from here multiple times and everytime i have gotten food from here it has been so good ! They always get the orders to you on time from the time u order the food so ur never waiting! I have also had them deliver to me before too and their delivery drivers are always so friendly and kind! The chicken kebab Sub was OK. The chicken was OK but some fatty pieces. The dressing was very good. Also got a meatball sub with provolone. The sauce on the meatball sub was terrible. And I mean terrible. Almost inedible. Food was a 2 out of 5. I gave an extra star because of the service and the cleanliness. I will be going back hoping the food improves a bit. Just a gem of an addition to Newburyport. The breadth and quality of their menu is crazy. Roast beef sandwiches, fried and baked seafood, pizza, Italian meals, avgolemono (a must-try if you are unfamiliar), subs, salads, sandwiches, wraps, calzones and side orders are all terrific. We've tired 'em all. Their staff is professional and friendly, including delivery. Deliveries almost always arrive early and hot meals are very hot. Had a great first experience at Pomodori Newburyport. The restaurant itself is clean and sleek. The staff are very prompt and attentive. The young lady who helped us at the register was especially delightful and friendly. She made my son and I feel right at home, and quickly and accurately took down our order. Despite walking in and ordering during a prime dinner time hour, our food was ready quickly and everything was just right. The chicken bomb sub was hot and delicious. I love Pomodori! I stumbled upon it when it took over an iconic restaurant. Sauce is excellent; portions are generous. Pasta to fish, hot subs versus cold subs, pizza, even pastrami and gyros: I love it all. The only (and big) complaint I have is that recent pizzas have all the toppings on one side (as in the delivery person has the box at an angle). But overall, and the blue cheese dressing actually has blue cheese in it, this is my go to. read more
