Food is on point. French toast is Fluffy, delicious. Coffee is the best diner coffee I've ever had. Prices are fair for resort town. Sundays they have a DJ from 9:00am -12PM. I will go every Sunday I'm down because of the DJ. He plays oldies, Sinatra, a couple weeks ago he was in an old school R&B Groove. Unfortunately on my last visit, two grandparents with grandkids came in and crushed the vibe- asked mgmt to turn the music down. (Wasn't even too loud) I'll be there to spend $10-15 for eggs/omelettes every Sunday if DJ is there. Service is on point. Owner did a great job post Covid staffing. Patrice deserves 5 stars for recognizing that our waitress was not in suitable condition to provide any service. She realized that our food and drink order had never gotten to the kitchen and our server was MIA. There's more to add but it's so comically bad that it sounds untrue. Friday 830a breakfast on our first morning of a beach weekend. A newish place and our first time here. Folks we are staying with suggested we give it try. The place is bright and cheery and there is a Lavazza coffee bar at the back. Very nice with plenty of servers/staff on hand. No problems hiring for this place. Extensive breakfast menu with all the typical choices plus some Specials named after various family members. Our server Barry was very good. We placed our orders and they came timely. I stuck with my old standby - two sunny side up eggs, four strips of bacon prepared nuclear, whole wheat toast with butter and hash browns. It was excellent and precisely as ordered. Others got various dishes and all were pleased. All in ~$100. for four. On the high end but not exorbitant for a beachfront meal on the boardwalk. Coffee was $4.50 each but with endless refills. This place is awful. We were charged 112.00 for breakfast for 4 ppl. 2 adults and 2 kids. The prices on the bill didn't match the menu. The manager told me it says on the menu that prices subject to change. They also add a credit card fee automatically on every bill even though you are paying cash. We went for breakfast on our first day before check in time. Seated right away in a nice corner table with view of the boardwalk and beach. Coffee was Lavazza. - very good but cup was on the small side. Belgian Waffle was perfect, except had to ask for butter - which was whipped and delicious. Omelettes, potatoes and toast all delicious. One order of 2 eggs, home fries and toast $12.95 alone with a miniature side of poor quality corned beef hash $7.00. So we're talking $20 for this one low quality diner breakfast. Total bill $88.89 before tip. Also coffee is $4.50 a person. Waitress was super pleasant, but the owner's only interest appears to be money. It will catch up with him. They did not even have jelly on the table for toast. Had to ask for butter with the pancakes and French toast because they were not provided these items when served. How cheap can you be. I recommend you go to another breakfast spot for much better food and more reasonable prices. This place is now history in our book. What an experience giving them 2 stars cause I love LaVassa coffee lol We were sat really fast and ordered right away. I'm pretty sure our server forgot about us. People were getting their food before us that were sat after us, and she didn't check in with us and wasn't even near our section so don't know if she picked up our table and then forgot? I got my veggie omelette that said it had mushrooms tomatoes peppers and onions. I got an omelette with spinach mushrooms and tomatoes. After waiting that long I wasn't going to say anything and wait even longer for an omelette without spinach. But the best part was when the old lady at the register. She was so rude it was hilarious. We asked if we could split the bill by what we had. I only asked because usually if it's someone's sole job to check people out they can do it no problem. I just figured I'd ask. We went here for breakfast with my teo daughters. This was during the 1 1/2 day power outage. Pompeo was offering breakfast. When we asked details about the breakfast she said flat rate of $10/ person buffet style. We agreed to eat here and put food on our plates. When my daughter went back for 2 pieces of french toast, she was denied. I asked the girl what was the issue,she said she failed to mention it was one time serving at buffet. I said that was something she should have specified. My daughters and I barely had food on my place anticipating going back up . We all left hungry. When I called the next day, i spoke to manager John. John started to call me a punk and advised me to come back to restaurant to fight. Yes, this really happened. I never even got to explain to him the reason for my call, he was screaming all kinds of mean words. I honestly could not believe the unprofessionalism. The food and service was great however they charged us $3 more on our breakfast selection then what the menu stated and put a $2.50 credit charge fee on our bill even though we were paying cash. When I questioned the additional menu charge the owner seemed to not care and told me prices are subject to change. I think that could have been stated prior to ordering. Also when I asked about the credit card fee and the fact I was paying cash, he raised his voice and said " I was going to take that off" . Breakfast for two cost us close to $50. Pompeos needs to stick to breakfast. Went to dinner last night and had the absolute worst service and food ever. I understand that lack of staffing is an issue but then do not open If you can not serve. We had poor service or rather no service at first and even others were leaving. I visited Pompeos for breakfast to visit a friend of my daughter who is a high school student. We were greeted happily by the server and sat down. The restaurant was not busy so we had a moment to talk to my daughter's friend. While she was visiting our table, the owner asked that she go to the kitchen and was yelled at by the owner for talking even though it was slow and her other tables were tended to. She came back in tears. This happened not once but twice. I worked in the hospitality industry for many years in Wildwood and am currently a high school teacher. In all my years working down the shore have I witnessed such disrespect to an employee. The hospitality industry depends on people feeling welcomed in their establishment. I would never recommend someone patronize a business owner that demeans and yells at young girls that are simply trying to make a living for the summer. If this is the way he treats his employees, I don't see this business making it. I have very fond memories of the old Pompeos and feel saddened this is who took it over. Never going back. read more

at the beginning of the summer season i went to pompeos to apply for a job as a server. the owner seemed like a family man. i soon found out that assumption was nothing but false. Rich (the owner) is the worst person i've ever worked for. i've worked in multiple other restaurants and have delt with disrespect from other bosses, nothing compares to this place. he feeds off degrading his employees, most of which are young and female. i was called and i quote a fucking asshole because i brought the wrong table cloth over to the table that we were cleaning. there is no system of organization. there were days we were so short staffed that i worked three jobs at the pay of one. he never took any responsibility for the restaurant being the way it was and blamed the staff for the complaints. the staff consistently receives rude and passive aggressive texts messages after work in an abundance (up to 13 text messages in 5 minutes). my final straw with this business was yesterday. this was the first day in weeks that i saw the owner in person. my best friends parents came in for breakfast. i obviously was having a conversation with them, the restaurant was dead and all of my tables were taken care of. he called me over and told me that i'm not getting paid (4.50 an hour) to stand around and talk and that things needed to be done. i tried to explain that talking to people and building a relationship with my customers is how i make my tips. he said that i was only there for myself and that i need to think of the business. he told me that being nice isn't the job and that i never do my job right when i get nothing but compliments from my customers. i told him that it was my last day and he agreed that was for the best. i was not planning on leaving on a bad note until he made my now former co worker who is 17 clean for an hour as he yelled in her face. as i was leaving i told him every issue i've ever had with him and his business . i wish i could say everything that happened but there is way to much to even touch the base of it. my honest advice, never step foot near this place or this man. read more

I get it. But the inference that we lied, the removal and disappearance of the clams, the rude and obnoxious staff, are enough.
