Needs a lot of updating. I would give it 3.5, but I rounded up. The food was decent, nothing special. French toast left something to be desired, but the veggie omelette was really packed and good. The waitress didnt refill any drinks until we flagged her down, but it was also prime breakfast hour and somewhat crowded. Went to Pompeos with my husband and my in-laws for a "true" boardwalk breakfast. We were seated right away at a nice window seat. Our server came over quickly and we ordered. Coffee was good food was good. . . Typical breakfast food. The sausage was really great! The atmosphere def needs an update but it's the Wildwood boardwalk! Pompeo's used to be lovely - it was open for breakfast, lunch and dinner years ago and served pretty solid food. Now it just serves breakfast and lunch and one would think with less traffic and meals, the restaurant would focus on quality, but Pompeo's doesn't. The service is just okay and they food is pretty basic, nothing special. However, it's the restaurant itself that is beginning to show it's age. It's pretty dingy in there and the place smells a little like urine - call me crazy, but it does. They need to freshen it up a bit. read more

I remember going to Pompeo's when I was younger. It was the go-to spot whenever my family and I visited the boardwalk. My cousin and I suggested we go again, and I had a subpar experience. I understand that it's the boardwalk and things are going to be expensive, but my meal was not worth $11.50. I had the homemade granola w/fruit and a cup a coffee. My experience was subpar, and I was not impressed by the granola w/fruit. They was hardly any fruit. Maybe 1/4 cup, but nothing more. I would have had a better experience eating granola and fruit in the comfort of our beach house. The coffee wasn't special either, very watered down. We come down to Wildwood a few times a year and one of our favorite breakfast places is Pompeos. Until today. Today, we had the worst server I think I've ever had in any restaurant I've ever been to - Henry. The food was good as usual. The service was a little slow but the problems started when we asked for a second cup of coffee. You would have thought we asked for his first born. He had just left the bill when we asked for the coffee. Three minutes later, he "reminded" us that we could pay the bill up front. Three minutes after that he picked up everything off of our table - place mats, silverware, plates, half finished water and "reminded" us again that we could pay up front. I said, "I know, thank you". He came back two minutes later, picked up our unfinished coffee without saying a word and cleared everything else from the table. I then cleared the tip we were going to leave, paid our bill and walked out. I have NEVER left a restaurant without leaving a 20% tip until today. The only reason I am giving two stars is that we have had good experiences here in the past. I will now reconsider if we will ever go back. read more

We are long time summer residents and have gone to Pompeo's many times. In fact it was almost weekly after Mass. Today, we took our house guests there and my husband and I were very disappointed. It has become very dingy looking and unfortunately if you are more than 4 you cannot get a front table. Also with the Dunes it is impossible to see beach. We also noted th the rices were very high given the quality. One should not be charge extra 1.50 for egg whites or egg beaters . My pancakes needed more cooking. I think because they bring warm syrup it takes place elf good quality pancake. The coffee was so disappointing, It tasted like water, and obviously not a good brand. So all in all it was disappointing and to end up with 50.00 breakfast bill for a place on boardwalk that really needs a face lift and better quality food. As I said we have come often and I can say we will not bring guests as we have done in past, You have been in business since 1978, use some of profit to fix the decor and get better coffee.
