I'd…read morehonestly say Dakota Tire is one of the very most reputable auto repair shops in the tri state area. I brought one of my pickups to them expecting a very expensive repair bill. Ended up there was absolutely nothing wrong with my transmission after all. Kirk just charged a minimal fee for their diagnosis. He could have very easily taken me for thousands of dollars doing all kinds of "repairs" on parts that had nothing wrong with them. I'm not going to go into all of the crooks at other shops in the auto repair field. It was $50 out the gate to inspect the vehicle. The issue I was having was diagnosed and I got a call back explaining it would be in the $1200.00 range. They explained the parts were going to cost about $400.00 and the rest was labor and it would take about 4 days. Everything they said was spot on. There was no hidden fees and the timeline was spot on. Tuffy's called me and said the vehicle was finished and to stop in and pick it up. The staff at the front desk was great to work with and I felt they were genuine. A day after I picked up my car I was walking behind it and I found a red oil rag in my exhaust pipe. I was a little surprised but I understand accidents do happen. I removed the rag which was wedged pretty good. I was surprised to see a flower and a thank you note when I picked the car up and thought man I would have appreciated a six pack instead. Overall, two days after my fix I don't see any other issues or concerns.

Flash forward: I'm 25, graduated, married, bought a house, with the same car. What stayed the same? United Automotive coming in clutch every time I needed them. The first time I had to bring my car in for an oil change, I almost cried because I was so worried about being guilted into unnecessary maintenance. I decided to bring it to United because it was close to me - a decision that would change my life forever. I had experience with auto shops attempting to milk me for all I was worth (which was literally nothing) for things like battery replacement, lightbulbs, etc because I went in alone, as a young woman, knowing jack about car repairs. I hated it. United took my car, had the oil changed in less than 12 hours, charged me $35, and APOLOGIZED for the "long wait". On my receipt they quoted me prices for three items of maintenance that weren't necessary but I could get in the future if I wanted. The tech explained to me thoroughly all the items and said none of them were necessary, but I could always come back and get them done later if I wanted. And then checked me out. It took a grand total of 5 minutes. I sent the receipt to my dad and he said that was the cheapest oil change I would ever find. This would begin my history with United and my healing journey with car repairs. Along the way I would get regular oil changes, a replacement oil tank cap within 24 hrs, a couple issues my brain fabricated because I was nervous but still got checked out, brake pad replacement, and a few other things I can't remember. Each time I got an apology for the "long wait" (nothing was more than 24hrs), quotes for 3-5 long-term maintenance items to keep an eye on, and the most reasonable prices I would be able to find short of my dad doing it for me (this last part from my dad, who lives 4hrs away). Printed out a work history for vehicle since I was a new customer. Service writer glaced at it and handed back to me. Vehicle was kept most of the day. Around 3:45 pm got a call stating it was fixed and ready fir pickup. (No call to approve work) when I pickup work invoice stated #4 cylinder spark plug and coil replaced. I told the counter person that was just replaced. Seemed to drive fine that night. The next day noticed a slight misfire. Stopped by to notify a week later. Was told to bring it in. Dropped off and got a call they could not get a misfire. So $375 to replace a part that was replaced a month prior and no solution. I even told the service writer I have Screenshot data that shows it was misfiring, but he did not ask to see it and only started to bring up work that was not related to this issue. Not happy!
