I showed up right when they opened, with my bags already sorted and ready to go. The guy working there told me to open the bags, then brought out a bunch of trash cans and had me dump everything in. The moment I did, he got upset and said, "That's the trash can I told you not to use." He definitely never said that beforehand. At that point, I just pulled all my stuff back out and left -- what a waste of time. This was my second time coming here, and both visits have been rude, unhelpful, and honestly disrespectful. They already shorted me once before, so I figured I'd give them another shot, but I'm done with this place. If you're looking for a recycling center that treats customers fairly and respectfully, I'd recommend going anywhere else. read more

I use this place often and after reading some of these other reviews, I do not agree with them. First off these guys are fast and efficient, they always help all they ask is the bags be separated and opened. I DO NOT think they are ripping people off. And to the person saying they do not need 7 people working you try working in 100 plus degree weather with just 2 people. These guys try to get you in and out as fast as they can. Not sure. I know recycling goes by the stock market. Seems to be a lot of complaints and with that many people saying the same thing, they must be stealing. That's too bad because their really isn't a lot of recycling places anymore. I have noticed the last few times I have gone their, its dead. Nobody waiting in line. We have been coming here to recycle for years. Usually the experience has been positive but this last time the crew was pretty snarky and it was impossible to get any idea if you were getting the right amount of money. From other reviews it appears to be a hit or miss deal. read more

Scam for sure. I've brought many many BAGS of cans and I do not make more than $20 back. They see you coming, and if you have a nice car, forget it. There's no reason for seven people to work there and to get his little as you do. I feel like they're taking a portion of what you make and then ask for tips on top of it. Why would seven people need to work there for a job that two men can do elsewhere? You won't get your value of recycling/money taken. I do not trust this place one bit and I'm suggesting anybody that reads this to take their business somewhere else. Not for the people of this community. They are piggy backing on Palm Springs wealth to make theirs. I am not made of money, and I bartend and work for tips. This place is an absolute rip off, on top of what everyone else says about them being rude and obnoxious. I've contacted both CALRecycle and State of California Dept of Weights and Measures regarding their shenanigans and I've been informed by one of these departments that they've sent out undercover employees as ordinary customers so as to give these douchebag crooks the litmus test. So far the Ponce employees have shown their true colors. If they're found to be tripping the scales or underpaying their customers, it's a $100 fine. If they're caught doing it again then the fine doubles each and every time and caps at $1,600 per incident. Weights and measures will be investigating them as well so I would think they'll either get fired or the business will be shut down. Until that happens, avoid Ponce Recycling at all costs and use Apple Recycling on Dillon Rd. in DHS or the recycling center in Yucca Valley instead - they're both easier to work with and they won't rip you off. read more

I was more than disappointed with my experience at this recycling center. I've been recycling for quite some time now and I know the amount I was given wasn't the amount I turned in. I had 16 bags of candy and bottles and got a total of $35. They were sneaky and did not allow me to see what the actual amount of the weight of my cans and bottles. Just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I'm ignorant when it comes to recycling. If you want to be cheated then go to this place. Unfortunately this is the only location in the Palm Springs area so I will no longer recycle my item. Do not go to this location unless you want to loose money! read more

I I have been recycling at this place for the past 5 years several times a week and depending on who's there is what's going to make the difference as far as whether or not you get true value of what you're bringing they pull the cans and bottles or cans of bottles often the scale very quickly I try to watch them but sometimes you miss it because they're trying to make money off of you there's no doubt about it like I said it's only when a couple people that aren't there one is the man in the older guy who's the manager he's quite honest but and there's one other person that who's there sometimes who's quite honest too but other than that forget it you're going to get ripped off read more

Rip off for sure. When they first opened a few years ago, I got double the amount of cash I now get for the same or more recyclables. When I question the amount received, they suddenly don't speak English. It appears that they are skimming off the top. I brought 9 bags of crushed plastic bottles and they weren't even finished weighing the las bag and gave me $50. I pointed out that my bags weren't finished and they said yes we weighed them with the bag still sitting there. The other day I bring lots of aluminum cans and plastic bottles about 2 big trash cans of each 2 aluminum cans and 2 plastic bottles and they pay me like 30 dls and filings like was little money for all that looking they pay you whether they want they supposed weight but I don't think they pay less than really is. read more

There's not much by way of instruction but if you just watch and follow what everyone else is doing you'll be walking out with cash before you know it!
