We walked in here on Easter Sunday around 1pm. We were the only ones there until we were done with our tasting. It was $10 for 7 wines. The owner was really nice and friendly. Really wanted to like the wines but they weren't to our taste. We don't like Italian wines and we prefer bold and smooth. Most of the wines were acidic/sour. The wines didn't smell that great either. The only one that was decent was the Old vine Zinfandel- a lil sweet , good flavor, jammy fruity. Looks like they have some outdoor seating. No seats inside.

    The reds we tasted.

Unfortunately the wines we tried were quite tart, and very sour. Perhaps my least favorite winery I've tasted at. The tasting room and seatings appeared limited, felt a bit invasive since it seems it's a part of a home. You've got to like acidity and sour to enjoy these.

Great winery and staff! Amazing place to spend an afternoon or have an event out. Wine was amazing and fairly priced!

Pondl is so awesome we come every time we are in Lodi. The atmosphere is so welcoming and they are dog friendly (huge bonus). The owner is so sweet and knowledgeable about the wines. We came and tried the seasonal pumpkin spice sangria and I highly recommend!! We ended up going home with three bottles (the fella which is a zin, the winemaker, and the garciano) which were honestly a great deal since the tasting fee (8 dollars) is waived with a bottle purchase. We had so much fun and will be back!!!! THEY ARE DOING TASTINGS in case anyone was wondering!

All these wines for $5. :)

Value-wise for tasting, this place is a great stop: there were like a dozen wines on the list, for 5 bucks, and refundable with a purchase. Quality-wise, though - I didn't think any of the wines were that amazing, and most of their reds tasted a bit too young. We bought a bottle of their "late harvest" viognier that was on sale for 10 dollars (might as well - we would've paid 5 either way)... which in retrospect, I wasn't nearly as impressed by as I remembered being at the time - at the time, I remembered it being delightfully semi-sweet and full of flavor; when we got home and opened the bottle, it tasted like an ok off-dry sherry (I like dry sherry, but I've had better wines with that flavor profile.) That said, the owner was pouring, and he was a super fun guy, and the tasting room was charming ("charming", here means "really small, but full of character".) I enjoyed the visit, but the wine, not as much as some other places we visited (though they weren't *bad*.)

Pondl Winery is a small family run winery on the northern end of Lodi along Taylor road. The name comes from combining the initials of the couple. Their winery and tasting room are on Taylor Road between 5 and 99 just west of the city boundary. The tasting room is a little small, but the personality of the owners are very big. They have a wide selection of varietals and styles, although many are on the drier side. It is shame that there are not more windows inside to see the gorgeous view. Parking is a bit tight, and large groups quickly overwhelm the room. The wine is limited production so you may not see the same bottle twice. Nevertheless, everyone had a fun time sampling wine outside the normal Lodi scene.

We were quickly greeted by the friendly female hostess who offered us either indoor or outdoor seating. We chose to sit indoors to enjoy our tastings of both whites & reds . Normally I prefer reds however in the summer I enjoy a crisp Sauvangion Blanc or even a nice Rose. If you purchase a bottle your tasting fee is waived which is always a great deal. We enjoyed ourselves so much we returned for the Alpine Block party event which included tastings at Stonum Vineyards and two other nearby wineries. This fun filled evening included live music, food trucks, and the Lodi Wine trolley shuttling you back & forth between the wineries. Definitely a good time! I highly recommend Stonum Vineyards & Tasting Room for great wine, friendly service and well coordinated, entertaining events.

I had driven by many times and it seemed like an appointment only place but I guess now they have enough staffing to open up the hours and days of the week. First, their reputation has always been very good. They've had some recognition from some reputable wine sources so I had very high expectations for the wine. In, short, the wines were very good. They had a nice selection from rose to the more Lodi styled red wines. I really did enjoy all the wines and the price point seems fair. I guess I was kinda hoping to meet the winemaker, learn more about their vineyards and purpose for growing certain varietals. When you get wine with a story it makes the experience that much more enjoyable. I really like this place and I'm hoping to make a stronger connection with the business since I consider myself an advocate for Lodi wines since my hobby is to compare our wines with the best out in the other regions of CA. Pretty heavy competition but so far Lodi is more than able to compete with certain types of wines aka Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Syrah and occasionally Cabernet.

As there weren't many folks doing a tasting on a weekday we got VIP treatment and had a deljghtful conversation, and education about the wines, from the person pouring for us. We really enjoyed our stay and the surroundings made it extra nice. Compared to the hype of Napa and Sonoma this winery and others in the Lodi area are down to earth and affordable in comparison, especially for tastings. This place very much is worth a visit. Although the grounds are very nice the entire experience was a let down. The tasting room is very utilitarian and not at all what I expected for a comfortable wine tasting experience. Although there are a multitude of pleasant outdoor spaces to linger and lounge while sipping wine it seems set up and better suited to small groups of 10 or more. There's a restaurant in the main tasting room that was packed crowded. The offerings must be good. The ambiance was similar to a Cracker Barrel. There's lots of merchandise for sale and I was surprised how basic the place felt, nothing special. When we asked at the tasting counter if we could get a glass of the Petite Petit, the wine we were introduced to by friends, the answer was a very gruff and emphatic, NO. The man seemed annoyed we asked. It would have been nice to be offered an alternative. That really turned me off although we ended up buying two bottles anyway. So, Freakshow. Rather strange and peculiar labeling and marketing, but it does catch one's attention. I had to wonder if the inspiration came from the TV series American Horror Story of the same name? The Petite Petit is a deep hearty rich blend of red wine with a lot of depth. It isn't very expensive but the taste is both bold and rich. It was nice walking around the outdoor areas and gardens but there didn't seem to be much energy out there, maybe a weekday and/or too early in the days? I had to wonder if they get folks coming off I-5 since the major highway is so close. Hence the more basic tourist approach. In any case it's an OK place but in short order I was ready to move on to another winery.
