So the food is good, spot is nice but man idk what happened to their prices. I went today and got a hamburger po boy/ fries and a Diet Coke and it cost me $26. And that was during lunch. The lunch I bought today should have been less than $20. read more

Okay. So, this place is delicious. It's on the expensive side, but the portions are huge! The people are pretty friendly. The caveat is, the place is tiny. It's pretty hard to find a table if you go during a busy time. And the tables are so close together it's like getting through a maze and you're constantly bumping in to tables. My advice is to go during a non-peak time because I truly enjoy the food. It just gives me anxiety and I don't enjoy dining there. The debris fries are a personal favorite of mine. They have chunks of roast beef and gravy and are absolute perfection. I can't even eat them anywhere else anymore. Lol The fried shrimp platter is soooo worth it and you can definitely share! I can't believe I didn't take a picture ‍. I ordered a 6" shrimp and 6" oyster poboy and both were delicious. The service was great, constantly clearing the table of discarded napkins. Man, I tried this place again after my work ordered out for all of us I decided I would splurge since work is payin! I got the Thursday special, which was a crabcake, fried shrimp, and your pick of either soup or bisque. I got the bisque which was very nice with loads of chunks of crab, it was delicious & filling. The shrimp still had parts of their tails on and were VERY fishy tasting, I couldn't really stomach them. The crabcake was filled with crab....was tasty, got 3 pieces of shell, but that's normal with picked crab. The good news is that their housemade tartar & cocktail sauces were the bombdiggity. Best shrimp po-boy on the Northshore!!! Shrimp were plump and fresh, moist on the inside crunchy on the outside! Po-boy was well dressed with not to much Mayonnaise and placed on some delicious French bread! The coleslaw wasn't too watery or too sweet, and was really fresh! Also, huge portions and amazing customer service! Definitely saving some food for dinner, two meals for the price of one is more than worth it for me! I love roast beef poor boys and I am constantly on a quest to find the best version of this amazing sandwich. Currently Pontchartrain Po-Boys is the best. The old location of Pontchartrain has a few draw backs. It was tiny and parking was very limited. The new version is much larger and there is much more parking. If the main parking area fills up, you can park in the Rouses lot. The food is incredible. The roast beef is the best on the Northshore and I'd even go so far as saying it's better than any of the shops in New Orleans. To make a great poor boy it starts with the bread. Pontchartrain knows this so each sandwich uses only Leidenheimer bread. That bread is then topped with the perfect mayo/beef/gravy ratio and dressed with lettuce and tomatoes. The beef is obviously slow roasted, and has a great beefy and garlicky taste. I wish I could make you understand how incredible that beef tastes, but you'll have to take my word for it. The sounds I make when biting into that sandwich are probably similar to a caveman who tasted his first piece of meat after eating only berries. It's that good. Their other poor boys are all very good, but none can top that roast beef. I occasionally change it up and can recommend the shrimp and cheeseburger, but I can't get enough of that roast beef. If you're looking for a side item, try the gravy fries. This was not on their original menu, but I notice they've added it. I'd like to hope it was added because I ordered it so much, but that's highly unlikely. These cheese fries are improved so much by the addition on gravy and roast beef that I occasionally make a meal of just that. Besides the food being so great, the owners and staff are too. The owner is always working the register and is one of the most friendly guys you'll ever meet. Once you come in a few times he remembers your name and makes you feel genuinely welcome. The one negative is that they are a victim of their own success and frequently very busy. Trying to place a phone order during peak times is occasionally difficult. The phone is often busy or rings off the hook. Apparently everyone now knows how good they are. If you like roast beef poor boys, you need to get here as soon as humanly possible. read more

Crab Cake Pasta, Fried Seafood, Fried Shrimp, Fried Catfish strips are NOT A disappointment!!! The Meatloaf is always sold out but I have the hamburger steak and gravy with onions and is served with lots of mashed potatoes! Salad- grilled shrimp with rumaloude? Dressing was fantastic! Holy S**t!!! I'm a 23 year Hospitality F&B guy and I have not had a Po-Boy like that in a very long time. I'll list positives: 1.) Oysters cooked perfectly, not cooked hard. 2.) Oyster Po-Boy was huge with a lot of oysters. 3.) Bread was fresh and must have been Leidenhymer. 4.) Shrimp coated with really good fry and cooked perfectly, leaving them shrimp tender and juicy. 5.) Dressings fresh!! 6,) Everything hot.....fries hot. I never give 5 star reviews but wow....these guys/gals know their stuff. ...and who would think the best Po-Boys spot is in Mandeville???! Disclaimer: this was my first po'boy. That being said, holy cow! It was delicious. I ordered the 6" fried oyster po'boy with a cup of gumbo as the side. The gumbo was okay, but next to the po'boy, it couldn't shine. Although I'm quite certain it's the most unhealthy thing I've consumed all month, zero regrets. Plenty of oysters and lots of flavor.
