As someone who is very picky when it comes to her pizza, Pontillo's is my favorite place in Cortland! Their pizza is always good, and my family and I are also fans of their fried cauliflower, onion petals, fries, and mozzarella sticks. The price is usually pretty reasonable, but there are definitely some things that are a bit pricier than I'd like to pay. Their staff is also usually pretty nice. I've never sat to eat, but there is plenty of space. It seems like it would be a charming place to grab a bite if you have time, but they are always punctual when we are getting food to go. read more

Meatball Ricottaroni was delicious & hearty. Pizza Crust was so good & crunchy. I ate all my crust. Not sure if I ever did before! The Pizza tastes fresh & homemade. The meatballs were crumbled & was full of flavor. I will definitely be ordering the fried Cauliflower. The breading was crunchy and the cauliflower was cooked to perfection. Chicken and veal parmesan dinners are great, as are the meatballs. We think the wings are the best in the area, and are certainly the biggest. We've always received friendly and competent table service when dining in and nice people on the phone when calling for delivery. The pizza is either very good-to-great, or burned or needing more sauce and toppings, so we've found that it's best to eat in than roll the dice on delivery. Friday fish special is great, and burgers are very good. We live close by, so it's a great place to be on a cold winter night, and is our go-to for meeting friends for dinner. read more

I had my meal delivered to my home. Delivery time was quick, and driver very courteous. I ordered the Buffalo chicken salad which I've had in the restaurant when I've dined in. The chicken sub arrived soaked in ranch. Could not eat. No wing sauce. The portofino roll was soaked in grease. Called about the sub and was told I had to bring it back to get a refund. Came and dined in because I was wanting some chicken parmigiana and it just so happened that they have it for the Thursday special. For $11.25 you get Chicken Parmigiana, salad, garlic knots and pasta. It came out hot and was excellent in flavor and portion. Instead of a typical dessert, I finished the meal off with a slice of cheese pizza which was excellent. Will definitely be back before I leave town in a couple weeks. I'm in town for a night and thought I'd order pizza from a local joint instead of supporting the pizza hut or domino's franchise so I decided to call up this place, and ordered a Medium Pizza with Pepperoni and Mushrooms. Have ordered takeout for 20 yrs after the remodel it has taken a turn for the worse . Every order in the last 9 months were either not what they say a lot of things left out . Usually they would give a credit . Lately in the last 2 months the person taking the order has it wrong and you don't know until delivery . Then as your setting up dinner you realize the order is completely wrong I called told them they said they would make it right send pizza back waited 45 min brought the right one and the onions and peppers just thrown on uncooked . It has been a while since I have ordered from Pontillo's, but I used to order from there at least 3 times a month. I moved from downtown Cortland out towards Homer, so I have been getting pizza and wings for other places. I decided that I wanted to get a pizza and wings from there Friday night. I called about 4:15 and placed an order for a large pizza - pepperoni, mushrooms, and hot peppers and 20 wings - 1/2 medium, 1/2 hot. I asked that the order be ready for pick up at 5:30 and they said no problem. I get there at 4:28 wings are done, pizza is still in the oven. I pay for everything and they say they will bring the pizza to the car when it is done. Pizza doesn't make it out to the car until close to 5:40. Drive home, open the box and look at the pizza and you can tell something is not right. Most of the toppings slid to one side on the pizza, and it is shiny. I took a spoon and gently redistributed the cheese and topping and came up with a spoon full of grease. I understand there will be some grease on a pizza, especially from pepperoni, but this was a whole spoon full, and there was lots more. One bite of the pizza and the grease was not the only problem. The crust tasted stale. It wasn't chewy or hard, it was like flavorless, charred cardboard. This is a pizza I used to love and eat all the time and was looking forward to getting. Such a massive disappointment. The wings were no better. My kids ate the medium ones, my wife and I ate a few of the hot wings. They were over cooked - not extra crispy to make sure they were done - over cooked and dried out, and sauced with a hot sauce that only had heat, there was no actual flavor to it. read more

The wings here are HORRID. I ordered a large order of garlic wings and they were horrible. The wings were rubbery and raw. I couldn't even take a second bite. The bone is dark so you can tell they're frozen. Wouldn't ever recommend the chicken wings to anyone, YOU WILL GET SICK. Pizza is half decent, Brix is better if you're looking for pizza in Cortland. Just to be fair, I'm tight on giving out stars. Also, I'm picky on my Italian food. That being said, bear in mind that this could be more like a 3.5 to 4 if reviewed by anyone else. This place is good value and welcoming for students and families. Food is decent but not top notch for what it is. Portions are big for what they charge -- especially their dinner specials. One thing to note: their veal is NOT cutlet. I think that is something the staff has to learn to tell their customers when asked. The orders are always messed up. Instead of being able to order food as you like they tell you what comes on the food and act put out when you ask for customized order. This used to be one of the best establishments in the area to get quality food from. The food is much less then satisfactory and the employees are equally as bad. Called to place the order and I asked how many garlic knots were in their appetizer, the woman on the phone said 5, but we received 4 old and dry garlic knots. Missing one, they had no flavor at all, no moisture to them, and were so hard and chewy we figured they were at least a day or more old, not fresh. The pizza was so dense (in a bad way) and the cheese on the pizza tasted fake and the amount of grease on the pizza was very unappetizing. I'm not sure what is happening to this place, but it has gone down hill so fast. We ordered delivery the other night, food took an hour and 20 minutes to be delivered and everything was cold...and I mean COLD. We called and were simply told "sorry, by whoever answered the phone. Ordered subs from there tonight and they were not good at all. Turkey sub order was completely wrong. Chicken finger sub had no lettuce no cheese. Roll was soggy and disgusting. The hot sub that was supposed to be sausage parm and the sausage was overcooked and chewy to eat. Too much sauce that made the roll soggy and disgusting, Very disappointed and will not be returning. The person taking my order over the phone constantly repeated that my phone was "beeping" out and my order was not right.
