I have been a customer at this establishment for many years. I've never had a groomer speak to me is such a rude disrespectful and condescending tone and unkind manner. She was very rough while demonstrating how to comb my dog's hair. She also preceded to tell me my dog is "high maintenance" She was rude spoke to me and my husband in a negative aggressive tone. My pup really needed a groom and I couldn't get into my regular spot for several weeks so I thought I would try something new. Bad decision! When I first dropped him off he was terrified and skittish, which he never normally is! At the groomer or the vet, he's always happy to be in new places and meet new people. Normally his appointments take anywhere from 2-3 hours; so when they called after an hour saying he was ready I was shocked! When I got there to pick him up he wanted to leave as quickly as he could. I did a quick look over and found his entire belly had been missed. They basically threw him back up onto the table and speedily clipped it. When I got home I noticed how red and irritated the area on his belly and testicle area was. He wouldn't stop licking it and was clearly having lots of discomfort. As the day when on and I took a closer look at it all, I saw how truly uneven the entire thing was, so many spots of long hairs left behind, and now a week later he's still uncomfortable on his bottom. Will never come back here and hope you know what a poor job they do before trusting them with your fur baby! They did a rushed job and it was completely awful. Last August, after a two week trip to Cali, went to pick up my 15 year old dog Oscar from PP and found him like this - lethargic, dehydrated, skin and bones. During the trip, I called several times to make sure he was ok. They always told me he was fine, that he was eating and sleeping. But when I arrived, the receptionist mentioned he had been having diarrhea for days. I took him to the vet, He was 5 pounds when he was normally 8! His stool was bloody. He died a week later. It took a while to post this, because it wasn't clear who was to blame (his age or lack of care). But what I still can't accept is the fact that PP looked at him and thought he was doing ok, despite all my calls. The owner even tried to argue with me about it when I refused to pay. I really want to give this place more stars, but I simply cannot. Pros- They are extremely friendly and from what I can assume is gentle with my pup and gives a report of his behavior(good always) when i come back to retrieve him. They are usually quick with services ranging from a hr to hr and half. Cons- They never actually give me what I want. On the occasions that I brought my dog Leo there to be groomed they would cut his hair very low and would shave his face -_-. I'm not a fan of that as it makes my puppy look very old and sick looking. I thought maybe they did this because they may have misinterpreted what I wanted. I brought him back to give them another try, but brought a pic with me this time because I assumed maybe my communication of what I wanted was off originally. As I said this time around I brought in a picture of a dog that looked like my dog to show them exactly what I wanted. This time was worse as they shaved him completely down and he has hardly any hair on him and looks extremely skinny and malnourished. I ended up having to put a hoodie on him because he look just ridiculous. To put the icing on the cake they left his face very full so he looks like a bobble head and did not make it proportioned with the shaved down cut they gave him :(. I'm just confused at how they missed the mark when I showed them a pic of exactly what I wanted. This is the second or third time I've been here and have been dissatisfied each time and will no longer be returning. I wish I had waited patiently for his primary groomer to have an open spot available. In the picture I've attached you will see what he normally looks like (top left), what I wanted (top right) and unfortunately what they gave him (bottom pics). I'm very upset to say the least because if they could not produce this I wish they would have been very upfront and I would have waited. For $70 bucks a grooming I can no longer waste my money on something I never receive. Sigh... he no longer looks like my 8mo old pup Edit: I originally marked them down to 1 Stars due to the quality of the cut, but I've since moved them up to 3 stars due to the apology and clarification of why/how the cut may have went wrong again. Extremely expensive bath and the gentlemen did an absolutely horrible job. No care put into into the bath nails weren't clipped, shedding as we walked out the door, spent less then 20 minutes on the entire full package that cost nearly $100. Reply to owner- The largest problem problem here is that it took you twenty minutes from my dropping my dog off to you calling me that my dog was ready from her full bath package that I paid that much for... how do you explain that you did all of that in twenty minutes? Her nails were not clipped, she was shedding as we walked out the door, I can't even fathom what happened in the near twenty minutes she was there that justified 81.75. Honestly I'd like a refund especially after your poor reply. I'm horrified at the way you run your business. read more

Can't speak highly enough about Pooch Purrfect. Charlie is so excited to go during the day and hang out with his dog friends, and he comes home exhausted and happy. We live close by, so the PP staff will drop him off in our apartment if we are going to be home late, even on relatively short notice (and put him in his crate/feed him/whatever). There seems to be plenty of space for the dogs to roam and play, and I know they get taken out for pack walks during the day. The staff is super friendly, and they seem to know all the dogs well. Haven't seen anything at all so far that would cause me to question their reliability. And if you buy a multi-day package, the price by-the-day is actually quite reasonable. We had been going to this groomer for the last year and 1/2 and we found everything to be fine regarding a full grooming (nails, ears, anal gland expression, bath, etc). However - our past grooming session (full groom) on 9/17, we noticed that our dog's anus was black, leading us to believe it hasn't been expressed. We then took him to the vet a week later and the vet said his anal gland was full. We had questions before as to whether or not they actually express the anal glands, which is an important part of the dog's health and is also expensive. This company is not reliable. read more

Our dog has separation anxiety, so we have to leave him at day care sometimes, and this is the closest place. He loves it there, pulls to get in, practically walks me there and then is quick to abandon me and join the fray. It's small, it's crowded, but all of the employees seem to truly love the dogs. And he loves it, so that's all I care about. Its the only time of the week my dog ends up TRULY tired. read more

I walked into the store for the first time this evening. The first thing I noticed was that it wrecked of urine which should have been a red flag. I asked about their grooming services and was handed an application to fill out. While I started filling it out there was a lot of dogs barking from their boarding services but could see any of the dogs which should be a second red flag. Then I hear a woman screaming at the dogs to shut up. She yelled "you've been driving me crazy all day" and then screamed in an intimidating way 3x "do it again". I could only use my imagination to know what she could have possibly be doing to these pets. While this was going on my rescues dog was freaking out due to the yelling. I walked out and will not be back again. read more

Awesome experience with this groomer! Stephanie was kind enough to offer her services to the rescue I volunteer for. Adoptable Murphy, a poodle/cairn terrier mix & my foster pup, came up from down south needing much more than I could provide in the way of grooming! And although Murphy was less than cooperative, with patience and attention to detail, Stephanie got the job done! He looked awesome, was subsequently adopted, and is having a great life! Good service but the place smells like pee, the workers are deaf from the dogs barking so they scream at you haha.

My pup was adopted from the shelter and has always had a hard time trying to fit in and understand "dog society" but today was his first day at pooch purrfect and Shana at the front desk welcomed him with so much love and enthusiasm she took her time getting acquainted with him which was very reassuring. Then introduced him to a dog an then so on she really knows her job and it makes me very comfortable leaving my good boy in her care. I can tell he had a blast at daycare because he came home so tired he couldn't even stay up. Only thing I will say is it would be nice if there was some sort of way I was able to watch him hang out and play like on the cameras or something woukd definitely add to my peace of mind read more

First time I used the service, and I was extremely pleased. My Havanese Bugg, just arrived from Hawaii to frigid Brooklyn, and he was, well, let's say, less than thrilled. So I'm wanting his coat to grow out. They did a great job in fulfilling that request. He's starting to look like a real Havanese! Best part was they took him right in, I waited,(shopped, had coffee) an hour, and we ubered back home. He looked awesome, and the folks there were great. Highly recommend!! read more

I really wanted to love this place. All of the other reviews have been so positive and the owner is super sweet, however I am unable to come to terms with the harsh treatment the groomer provides to the dogs. This is the second time my dog has came back from being groomed with terrible red bruises all over his neck. My dog is not a bad tempered dog, he is super well behaved, but can be a bit wiggly at times. Nonetheless, there is no reason for such harsh treatments that cause these bruises. At $70, I expect better treatment! I will not be returning due to the terrible treatment! read more

Didn't have the best experience here. We tried their dog boarding services once, and upon our return, we felt bullied into additional expenses that didn't seem legitimate. When we asked, the manager seemed like he wanted to intimidate us. Our conversation kept veering off topic, and frankly, we didn't feel like it was a well-run operation. The dogs dont seem taken care of. The staff are young and don't seem to care about anything. I had my dog stay overnight and on the phone they told me one price, then when the kid rang me up, it was almost twice the amount. I asked and he didn't really reply. HE signed my DOGS name to the receipt, didnt give it to me, and as i happened to glance across the desk I saw my receipt. I then saw inflated price and I asked what the deal was and he stared blankly. I politely asked why the price is higher and why I'm not signing my receipt and the dude stared at me. Like, he had nothing to say. It was weird and annoying as hell. This place doesnt feel safe overall. I will not send my dog back and I will not recommend it. Have also gotten my dog groomed here in the past. Nothing about it was worth the $70. The groomer was rough with my dog, and did a terrible job. read more

Love these guys! Living close to prospect park means my bernedoodle, Albert, at the same time, gets lots of exercise and very dirty. I take him in once a week for a wash and he always returns home blown fluffy and happy and his new dog smell lasts all week. They always try to squeeze him in for baths, even at the last minute, and he's usually done in less than an hour. I think there are two groomers and both always come out from the back cleaning area to discuss his coat's at-home maintenance which makes owning a puppy a little easier, if you ask me. read more

I didn't think to write a review before now, but I will now. A year ago I brought my moorkie to be groomed and a new groomer( I don't know his name but I can describe him and is accent) groomed my dog and cut him under his eye. It cost me 5000 plus in vet bills due to an infection in that eye. My dog had to undergo a ct scan, anesthesia due to this monsters maltreament of my dog. I haven't seen this monster since I only use John now. However, if my dog is ever mistreated again I will have my brother ( a lawyer) and me a critical care nurse shut this place down after I sue you. read more

Charwyn and his staff have been taking care of our french bulldog for almost 3 1/2 years now and have been so warm and caring with him - our pup can be a tough cookie with new people, but seems completely at home with every member of the Pooch Purrfect team and gets so excited to see them in the morning. The staff has also been wonderful to work with; they are extremely communicative, making every effort to help with my crazy scheduling, and sending me the occasional email (or answering one of mine) letting me know how he's doing that day. The grooming staff has done a great job too with a pup that isn't the biggest fan of a bath - we have been very happy with their services as well. We couldn't recommend Pooch Purrfect more for anyone looking for a wonderful, safe and caring daycare!! read more

Charwyn, I think the photos speak for themselves. Trying to attribute the bruising/cuts/redness to a common Schnauzer skin condition, comedones, instead of the rough grooming that occurred is really disappointing. I explained to your groomer that the medicated shampoo was for comedones during the short consultation. Anyone who knows about dogs would know that Schnauzer comedones look very different from the bruising/cuts shown in the photos. Our dog has been groomed countless times and has never been returned with bruising/cuts. It's really sad that your groomer won't own up to mistreating our dog, I honestly hope he is better to other people's pets. read more

Someone recommend this place to me to get my dog groomed, so I made an appointment and tried them out and I must say I'll never be going back to petco again lol the man who groomed my dog was marlon (i hope I spelled his name correct) he did a great job on my dog , i wanted a Mohawk look for him and he did an excellent job, you can tell he enjoys what he do. I'm just looking for a local neighborhood groomer that can clip my dogs nails. To me that is a very basic service to provide. I've passed by two weeks in a row and I was told the person on staff doesn't do nails. I don't know what type of grooming service does not do nail clipping. The other problem is when I was lucky enough to find someone who does it at this place, they did not do a professional job. I think there is a training issue here. Will not come here again for a very simple service I would need from my dogs groomer. read more
