Well, the puppy I adopted was severely sick with kennel cough and had worms/ parasites... The lady I spoke to just offered store credit. Why would I want store credit? I'm not giving y'all the dog back, it clearly wasn't taken care of while at your store. Poor little boy had to go to multiple vet appointments to get through all the issues. He is happy and healthy now thankfully. I spent more money on vet bills than the 3k I spent on getting the puppy. FYI Don't buy a dog during the time between Christmas and New Years. Vets are closed. You end up at emergency vets or pet emergency centers. Response: I spoke to the store location due to my concerns for the other puppies housed with my puppy and had multiple correspondence with a Crystal. They did not seem concerned about the other puppies and just told me to wait to see the vet they referred me to the following Monday. The emergency vet said he wouldn't have survived the night, so waiting till Monday would have been fatal. Shortly after bringing her home, she began having health problems, so we ordered a DNA test. The results showed she was not a true Golden Doodle (a Golden Retriever and Poodle mix). Instead, her parents and grandparents were all mixed breeds, with nearly as much Labrador as Golden Retriever in her genetics. To advertise her as a Golden Doodle was misleading. Our puppy had her first seizure at just 3 months old and has since been diagnosed with epilepsy--something we believe came through the Labrador bloodline. She has suffered countless seizures, and the emotional and financial toll has been overwhelming for my family. When I raised these concerns, Petito denied responsibility and hid behind contractual language. They offered store credit if we returned the dog--but that would devastate my kids and put us in another emotionally-heavy position since we've had her over a year. They refused to refund the $3,000 we paid, knowing I would not have paid that to begin with had I known she was a "mix". Be careful. We originally put down a $500 deposit on a miniature dachshund named Kiki who is STILL listed on their website. We were told she would be transferred to the Shenandoah store and we'd be contacted when she arrived. Weeks passed with no communication. Every time we called, we were given a different excuse -- delivery delays, then suddenly she had been transported with a sick puppy and needed "observation." We were repeatedly told we could pick her up, only to receive call-backs saying the staff had "misspoken." After a week of lies and shifting stories, the manager, Marty, told us she needed another week of observation and promised updates. We received none. When we finally called again, we were told the puppy had been sent back to the breeder for health issues. No apology. No transparency. No accountability. To this day, we have no idea what actually happened to that puppy. To "make it right," they offered a small discount, and against our better judgment, we returned and chose a different male miniature dachshund. At checkout, we clearly pointed out that he sounded audibly congested. Staff brushed it off, claiming they "couldn't hear anything" and reminded us they "aren't vets." They offered to keep him for observation (after what we had already endured) or told us we could take him to a vet within five days as they offer a 5 day viral warranty. We took him home. His condition worsened overnight. The very next morning -- less than 24 hours after purchase -- we rushed him to the vet. He was diagnosed with pneumonia caused by BOTH viral and bacterial infection, confirmed by radiographs and bloodwork. The veterinarian stated this condition is life-threatening if left untreated and likely present for several days prior to us receiving our puppy. We immediately sent Petitto the veterinary discharge papers and our extremely expensive vet bill. Their response? They refused to cover the cost, hiding behind word games and claiming it "wasn't viral" -- despite their own contract guaranteeing puppies are sold in good health and free of serious infectious disease. That guarantee was a lie. Our puppy was NOT healthy when sold. Their staff ignored obvious symptoms, sold him anyway, and then tried to shift the blame onto us. This company will smile, lie to your face, and disappear the moment something goes wrong. Our initial impression wasn't bad, the staff was very friendly, and it was nice be able to visit with the pups in a private setting. However, the cost was a considerable amount more than we thought it would be.. This little puppy (Carina aka Natalie) stole our heart, so we brought her home! The documents that were sent home with us, strictly stated that we had to get her to the vet within 7 days of purchase. We scheduled the visit to the vet the very next day, which was a Monday. Low and behold, this poor puppy was so sick.... She had or still has, coccidia, giardia, and ear infections in both ears!! I apologize if my spelling isn't correct, but i hope you get the idea.. We have spent $$$$ on getting healthy, and she has become a part of our family. My wife and I stressed for a while, on if she would even survive! After 3 rounds of medication, she is finally rid of the coccidia and ear infections. How can these places sell animals that are so sick? How many don't survive to see a new home?? We would not recommend purchasing a pet from this place, after the experience we have had. We didn't contact the store, once we found out the extent of her illness.. The amount of paperwork that they send home with you and your new pup is mind blowing. All in all, we've been to the vet 6 times with her, including an emergency visit due to constipation. While there, I continued updating the pet store, still hoping for assistance. The hospital assessed him, and his care was estimated to cost an additional $7,000. Shortly after, I received an email from the pet store stating they would not be able to assist, as they were standing by their policy of exchanging the puppy or offering store credit. This left me with serious concerns--if I returned my sick puppy, what would they do with him? Would they provide the medical care I was already giving, or would they simply do nothing? PARVO IN OKC LACATION! We purchased two Old English Sheep Dogs June 12th. Within one Day they were sick with Parvo. One went to Amarillo and my daughter took one in OKC. She had two of the three, no Parvo, thank goodness. $347.00 later and several calls, emails, complaints, I did receive a refund for the cost of her medication. We still have more vet visits and another round of medication to try and get her healthy. WARNING: Sold Me a Sick Kitten and Refused to Take Responsibility I purchased a kitten from Pettito Pet Store that was already very ill. Within 48 hours, the kitten has severe eye and nasal discharge, sneezing, lethargy, diarrhea, and ringworm--all confirmed and documented by my veterinarian. Despite being told at the time of purchase that their vet would treat any early health issues and that a "health guarantee" was in place, Petito refused to help once I brought the kitten back. They wouldn't even allow their vet to examine him. Instead, they claimed that conjunctivitis, upper respiratory infections, and ringworm--which had spread all over his body--were "not covered," even though the kitten is still visibly unwell and underweight (body condition score of 1.5/5). My vet has since warned that the kitten may not even tolerate the necessary medications due to how fragile his condition is. This is not a mild case of sniffles--this was a sick, underweight kitten sold to a family with small children and other pets, all of whom now have of ringworm including the dog. We were transparent and tried to work with them, but they hid behind vague contract language and took zero accountability. I'm definitely filing complaints with state agencies and social media want to warn others to think twice before trusting Petito with the health of any animal. They don't call and wil email only to coz they are supposedly busy in meetings all day. I pray you never have to deal with somebody named Crystal. Bottom line: Cute store, but behind the scenes, you may be taking home an animal that is sick, untreated, and unsupported. If you're considering buying from them, ask for recent medical records, demand in-writing clarification of what exactly is covered under their "guarantee," and consider rescuing instead. They said all the right things to assure me I was getting a healthy puppy. I trusted that they were on a mission to change the perception of storefront dog stores. I even overlooked the fact that they won't give you any information about the breeder your puppy came from until after you purchase him, because they said, "Trust us, we know your concerns, we genetically test for problems known to the breed. We care as much as you do." 1 year later, my puppy, who I grew to love with all my heart, has been diagnosed with all 4 genetic defects known to the breed. He is headed into years of pain, and I get to watch him go through that. "If you have any trouble, just email Crystal, she'll make sure you are taken care of." Crystal's first reply to you will state she does not take phone calls for any reason, but feel free to email her your concerns. Her next emails will be full of dodges so lame as to be cliché and insulting to your intelligence. And the Registration Certificate? We went and a saw a basset hound puppy. He coughed during our visit and they assured us a vet would take a look at him and would call us when he was ready for pick up. A few hours later in the day we were told he was fine and we took him home. The cough worsened and we scheduled a vet visit and he was diagnosed with pneumonia. We treated it and a couple months later the puppy wakes up salivating excessively, eyes rolled back, completely disoriented. Went to the ER and they ran all kinds of tests and they had no idea why he was unresponsive. They said it was likely neurological and/or congenital. It was about 3k to leave him under supervision for 12hours (it was inadvisable to take him home in that condition). The vet couldn't assure us that he would have a normal life. We ended up putting him down. It was the saddest most awful experience seeing our puppy this way. I am not sure if it is directly an issue with Pettito or the breeder they had a contract with. Either way we paid $2,700 total for our basset hound only to have him die at the age of 5 months. If you'd like a quality puppy, I suggest meeting a reputable breeder instead. read more

Immediately after bringing him home, I scheduled a vet appointment for 10/08 to confirm his health, as Pettito had promised in writing that their kittens were healthy and free from any medical issues. However, shortly after bringing him home, my kitten began having severe diarrhea, 4-5 times a day, which only worsened over the course of weeks. It was clear something severe was going on. At the vet on 10/08, it was confirmed that Pettito's vaccination records were altered--showing a vaccine date of 10/25 when I had purchased my kitten on 10/07 - a timeline that is simply impossible. This was an immediate red flag. Despite the concerns, Pettito continued to gaslight me. When I reached out to them on 10/13, I spoke to Macy, who made me feel like I was overreacting. I was met with a cold, dismissive attitude, and no concern for my kitten's well-being. By 10/17, my kitten's diarrhea had not improved, so I requested a fecal exam to test for parasites. The results came back negative for parasites, but my kitten's condition continued to worsen. I contacted Pettito again on 10/21, hoping for help, and spoke to Polly. Instead of offering assistance, she said they would only offer help if my kitten tested positive for genetic defects. At this point, I realized Pettito viewed my kitten as nothing more than a product that could be "exchanged" if necessary. By 10/30, after multiple tests, my kitten was diagnosed with Feline Coronavirus and Clostridium Perfringens. On 10/31, he also tested positive for ringworm. Despite sending all the necessary documentation to Pettito, including medical diagnosis invoices, and photos, they continued to stall and give excuses. Crystal's emails initially asked for a "supporting medical diagnosis," which I promptly provided. However, after I sent her the diagnosis, she then claimed that any delays were due to my failure to send "detailed medical notes for each visit." This was the first time she mentioned needing such detailed notes, even though she had never asked for them before. Once I received the requested medical notes from my vet, I immediately forwarded them to Crystal. Despite providing all the required documentation, Pettito continued to stall and avoid taking responsibility. It became clear that Pettito wasn't interested in resolving the issue--they were simply trying to cover their tracks and avoid accountability. On 11/11, both of my adult cats, who were completely healthy beforehand, were both diagnosed with ringworm. I was livid. I had done everything in my power to protect them (my kitten had been quarantined the whole time since arriving home), and now they were suffering because of Pettito's failure to provide healthy kittens. After weeks of suffering, I sent Pettito a formal demand letter on 11/10, citing violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Pettito's response on 11/23 was insulting--attempting to shift the blame onto me rather than taking any responsibility for the harm they caused. To this day, Pettito has refused to resolve the situation. Their lack of empathy and unprofessionalism have been appalling. They treat animals as commodities, putting profit over the health and well-being of the pets they sell. While I've managed to nurse my kitten back to health, my adult cats continue to suffer because of Pettito's negligence. Don't support a business that clearly values money over animal welfare. My parents stopped by on Sunday, May 25, 2025 on their way back to Central Texas from a trip. My dad fell in love with a Golden Retriever that was in the second to last kennel on the back wall. My mom fell in love with a Yorkie on the second top kennel from the entrance. They decided to take the Yorkie home due to her maximum size and the fact she doesn't shed. One of the employees, Reuben, said the Yorkie had been vaccinated the day before and needed a 24-hour waiting period to see if any side effects would appear. He told her they would call her on Monday, May 26, 2025, to let her know when she is ready to be picked up allowing the $500 deposit 24-hour grace period to be extended in case there was any negative effects from the vaccines. Made to sense to us. My mom paid the $500 deposit. Monday comes around and we received no call. My mom had to call in the mid-afternoon and Reuben answered with the reason being the store was swamped (it did sound busy) and he had forgotten to check in. The Yorkie was ready to go and my mom said she would be there on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 in the early afternoon as she needed to drive 3.5 hours to get there. Tuesday rolls around and my mom picks up the Yorkie. The staff had her in the nursery room prepared for the pick-up. As my mom was getting the final paperwork done, she saw Athena, a mini golden doodle (more on her later). In the first couple days the Yorkie was home with us, we noticed she did not have much of an appetite, but her excretions were frequent and smelled horrible. We had already set an appointment with our local vet on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, to ensure she was healthy. The vet reviewed the health documents that Pettito provided us and was shocked to find our Yorkie had been over-vaccinated. The Bordetella Intra - Trac 3 vaccine was first administered at 5.5 weeks (typical schedule is 6-8 weeks old). The second Bordetella Intra - Trac 3 vaccine was administered a week and a half later, when it should have been administered between 10-12 weeks old. The third Bordetella Intra - Trac 3 vaccine was administered a week and a half later after the second when it should have been administered around 14-16 weeks old and is considered optional. The deworm schedule seems to also be off as the first de-worm medication was administered at 4 weeks old when it should be administered from 2 weeks of age. This brings up the parasite diagnosis. We provided the vet a feces sample per their request. On Thursday, May 29th, 2025, the vet notified us that our Yorkie had 2 different types of intestinal parasites: Giardia and Coccidia. Both of these infectious organisms are contagious from dog to dogs in communal areas, typically when a dog eats feces or bacteria from an infected dog. Our Yorkie needs two separate medications and a special diet to ward off the parasites. She's doing slightly better thankfully, but this goes against what is stated on Pettito's website of their passion "about connecting happy, healthy, ethically raised puppies with their fur-ever homes!" On another note, as of this morning, June 2, 2025, the Yorkie, Isabelle, is still on Pettito's website despite the fact she's been at our home since last week. My advice: Adopt, don't shop. There are plenty of shelters and rescues for specific breeds and ages, and some provide proper medical care. Plus, they'll treat you and your pup more like living beings than dollars in their pocket. read more

I took him to my own vet and they said he had the wrong vaccines, and kennel cough. He has since went very downhill and is now on 3 medications fighting off all these diseases! I contacted Crystal for the vet bills and she wasn't helpful and pretty much said it was my fault he was sick! This place should be shut down. Not to mention I can not find his dog breeder nor is He/She even registered to breed dogs not even sure if it's a real person. We haven't even taken the dog home and we're already having trouble with this place. So many calls made and voicemails left and been told they would call us back in regard to a puppy and nothing! So unprofessional and we don't even know if the puppy is even alive at this point. The last we heard he was sick, throwing up so my daughter couldn't bring it home. No one has an answer for us. I am concerned about all the other puppies now. I feel so bad and this has left my daughter crying over a puppy she fell in love with! I will be heading there to get a refund asap! read more

I went into petito in the qual springs mall, and all of the sweet innocent puppies were in little clear plastic boxes. I wanted to cry!! the lady had an attitude with me, and didn't treat me with respect. She also said that I can't even take one out, ADOPT THEM FROM THAT HORRIBLE PLACE!!! It's really too bad I can't leave a zero star review because this company doesn't deserve any. My wife purchased our first Yorkie from the OKC location, her health started to decline shortly thereafter. We stuck to their guidelines, had her to the vet within three days of bringing her home but she had already been coughing. It wasn't bad at first, but it got bad quickly. We suspected kennel cough, for which she was over-vaccinated according to our vet, but she wasn't responsive to antibiotics. Fast-forward several weeks and it's highly suspected she has tracheal collapse, a condition that's not uncommon in this breed and costs thousands of dollars to actually diagnose. We were told that her issue is so severe and with her being so young there wouldn't be treatment available (basically a death sentence). This company refuses to work with us on a resolution, has completely stopped responding to our inquiries. They abandoned us with an unhealthy dog we paid over $3,000 for, and that was before the medical bills!! Update: after posting this, Pettito was able to expedite a decision on my case and have offered an exchange for a puppy of equal value. Everyone I dealt with was nice, but they operate too much like a large company for a chain with 4 stores... read more

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE! Had the worst experience anyone could have. I spoke with 2 ladies with interest in two puppies. WE had several lengthy phone calls in the span of two days regarding the puppies I wanted to see at the plano location. I set up the appt and was reassured by both ladies that the puppies were there. My family took the day off from work and drove the hour long drive to Plano to see the pups. Upon arrival, I was met with rude customer service and confusion by the front desk when I asked to see the pups. After a lengthy investigation, we were finally told that the puppies were not there. One lady said they were already sold and another gentleman handling the pups informed us they were in OKLAHOMA, even though they showed available on their system. Long story short, they did not do their due diligence, nor communicate well with customers or their internal staff. You can imagine my frustration and dismay with this location and their front desk staff. I left my information with them to have the manager (Marty) call me back. It's been 3 days and no phone call. Save yourself the hassle and stress and go somewhere else. This place is not up to standard. read more

I purchased a puppy at their Plano store. She was the oldest puppy in the store at 16 weeks, which was odd, puppies usually don't stay at a store that long. When I inquired about why she'd been there so long, the reply was 'well, she came from Oklahoma'.... Looking back, I am now assuming she was 'returned or exchanged'. When I saw her in the store, she was just sitting there, not really playing with any of the other puppies as if she were sad and just defeated. She is very sweet and cute as a button and of course I was assured she was completely healthy. When I was playing with her at the store, she was scratching at her ears. The employee said the scratching was due to the fact that she didn't like the bandana she had on and she was just trying to get it off. The lady who was assisting me seemed WAY more interested in getting me to go to their site and give her a good review so she could win some sort of contest instead of answering my questions. After one day of having her, I took her to an after-hours vet due to excessive scratching and head shaking (long after I took off the bandana). It was so bad I didn't want to wait for an appointment with my regular vet. Turns out she had a pretty bad double ear infection and needed treatment right away. Also, she was about a month late on one of her vaccines but otherwise seemed healthy. When I got the ear infection under control, I took her to a groomer because her coat was pretty long. After getting her long hair cut, it was easier to see that she had scabs on several parts of her body where she had been scratching herself badly. Obviously, the animals there (at least the puppies) are not well taken care of. Don't be fooled by the 'goodness and light' message on their website, which is what led me to Pettito as opposed to Petland or another pet store. Thank goodness there are no other issues with my sweet little girl. I also had my vet, whom I've taken my other little guy to for 8 years now, give her a thorough exam as well. I feel like I truly rescued her from a terrible situation instead of purchasing her from a place that should have treated her like the little sweetie she really is. read more

Very cute puppies kept in tiny glass boxes with several other puppies. Do not buy a puppy from here. They sell sickly dogs. I found my dream dog, and he died 2 weeks after I got him. He started getting sick after day 4. I did everything I was told to do and more. They took a day and half to even respond to the death. The "manager" Crystal Hanvey, refused to speak to me on the phone, and the staff would not give me her phone number, only her email. Crystal even yelled at me through email, when I followed up several times just to get a response, after a full day of no response! Telling me she is very busy in meetings all day and will review when she has time. She showed zero concern or urgency about the death of a dog they sold. She told me there is nothing they will do, and stopped responding. The worst customer service I've ever received anywhere! I would never get a dog from them. Just don't! The minute you walk out with a puppy you intend to love, they wash their hands of it. read more
