    Honeybear !
    Cathy Z.

I know this Fabulous Rescue through Nextdoor and had the pleasure of meeting Lydia many yrs ago. She helped me find loving homes for two little fur babies I found in our neighborhood! Ppl seem to dump dogs when they are tired of caring for them, Shameful.... This last interaction was this past January, a beautiful female mixed with hound and Shepherd etc I came across at a park, someone dumped her and a male. They continued to stay put in the area waiting on owner to come back It tore at my heart. So I began to leave food and water at my door, they would circle the block. Eventually she trusted me and I caught her and her and I bonded I had her for 30 days before Lydia found a wonderful man and woman that wanted to adopt her prior to that, Lydia offered to get her spayed and all medical care was going to be supported by her Rescue Poochmatch out of Santa Ana, Ca I had named her Honeybear a sweetheart of a dog. She received so much love and attention throughout her stay with me & and Lydia her sponsor. I just adore Lydia's passion in saving animals, I will continue to praise her of the wellness she brings to animals in need of rescuing! Pls check out her website, www.Poochmatch.com many animals are still in need of homes. Thank you Lydia.

My wife and I adopted a 2 yo German Shepherd Mix from Lydia at Poochmatch and I wanted to highlight some positive things from the experience. In the beginning, we understood that our application was not a guarantee or an automatic 'yes' to a dog. Think of it as an interview for being a dog-parent. To my surprise and delight she messaged us less than a week later and we had a nice conversation on the phone. I found her to be very thorough and forthcoming with information about specific dogs. The dog in question we'd inquired about had already been adopted, but she recommended a different dog based on our wants and needs, and what we knew we could handle. She sent us some pictures, and the dog looked good. We agreed to meet her at an adoption event at Petsmart in Yorba Linda where she would have that dog for us. Long story short, Lydia paired us with an absolutely wonderful dog. Probably the most affection dog I've ever met in my life. We've had her roughly a month now and we are completely head over heels for her. Of note: Our new dog had been spayed a few days prior to adoption, and the incision was still healing when she popped a few sutures a few days after we took her home. This was not Lydia's fault at all, rather the result of a very flexible dog. I messaged Lydia and she directed us to a specific vet in Garden Grove who re-sutured our dog, and Lydia was kind enough to assist us with the cost, which I did not expect but was very grateful for. The incision has now healed completely. Lydia also provided us with a wealth of information on safe toys, good food, vaccination records, tags, and a behaviorist in the area if we desired some training. I thank her for all of her hard work. It has enriched our lives.

I'm so grateful for this rescue. We adopted Pepper from them a couple of years ago, and she has brought so much love to our household! She makes us laugh every single day. Such a goofy and loveable girl.

I adopted a 6 month old puppy from PoochMatch a few years ago and since then I've kept in contact with Lydia. I am a teacher and I advise the animal rescue club at my high school. After a wonderful adoption experience with Lydia and her team, I wanted my students to volunteer for PoochMatch. Lydia was so great! She taught my kids about the importance of rescuing and motivated them to come up with more ways to help. Today I called Lydia to tell her about a puppy that I rescued while on vacation in Mexico. Right away she offered to help me find the puppy a home. I am so grateful to have her support. Thank you, Lydia for inspiring my students and for helping so many dogs find homes. I wholeheartedly recommend the folks at PoochMatch. They are fantastic!

    Getting his vaccine today!

We adopted Milano (now named Maori) on June 8 and today we returned to PoochMatch for his vaccine. My husband and I are very happy we were both approved and were able to adopt Maori that day even when I did not get my application on time online and even though there was another customer who had appointment for Maori that day. My husband and I patiently waited and immediately observed how busy Lydia, Ariel, and the rest of the volunteers in making the process smooth for all willing to adopt a dog that day. Yes, the process was a little confusing especially if you walked in without an appointment because the customers with appointment have priority since they were already prescreened. But if you're serious at adopting and you show patience and respect to the staff and other customers, I think the staff are more than reasonable to explain the procedure to you despite how busy they are. I have read the many reviews and although some are not so great, I truly believe Lydia and her team are trying their best to match a dog to the right home. They ask a lot of questions and try to get to know your living situation because they know what the dog will need growing up in a new environment. Lydia actually was honest to my husband and I about not being much of a fan of nurses or medical professional adopting a puppy because of our schedule. She explained that getting two dogs or an older dog might be better in our case because of our work schedule and the dog's needs of playmate and comfort. Nurse schedule are usually long hours , but since I work in the clinic and my husband only works 3 days, we explained to her in a calm manner our situation and our plan B ready when one is not available. Fortunately, she gave us an approval to adopt! We then waited patiently because the dog we fell in love with had an appointment with another customer. Thankfully, the other customer saw how much we like Maori that she gave Maori to us. I think that day was meant to be for Maori to really be part of our family. He has now settled smoothly to our home. He is such a sweet, playful, and smart puppy. We cannot ask for more! Thanks Lydia and the team for volunteering your time and energy. You guys are awesome!

We just adopted our dog Flash from Lydia Savala, and we could not be any happier. Our adoption process was so easy and professional that it was actually stunning. Lydia is so very different from other agencies because she is honest, trustworthy, professional, straightforward, and caring. She obviously loves dogs and loves rescuing and finding them homes with responsible people/families who will provide excellent care for them. She's also partnered with PetSmart Charities, so she is the real deal! We know this, because we've been trying to adopt for a while from other agencies: some requested a donation as part of the application, some never got back to us; some used their attractive dogs as "bait and switch;" and one was actually a puppy mill scam. Lydia was upfront with all costs and issues and had all the paperwork with the dog's vaccinations signed by the vet in a folder along with lots of general care information for our dog. She took time to explain everything we needed to know about Flash: his history, nutrition needs, how to settle him in to a new home, what kind of flea guard we needed, the size crate, etc. Our dog Flash is healthy, well-adjusted, and loves people and dogs. We love him and he is the perfect fit for us. I don't usually write reviews, but Lydia was the very happy ending to a difficult story.

    Morty with his Dad.

My family and I would like to extend a debt of gratitude to Lydia and her rescue for finding and taking very good care of my nephew's dog Morty. In a County like San Bernardino it is really nice and refreshing to find people like her that genuinely care about animals and want to reunite people with their lost pets. We cannot thank her enough for all that she did while Morty was in her care. I would gladly recommend anybody contact her if you are looking for a dog to adopt. She will match you with an animal that will fit you and your family. 5 star review for sure and if I could give her more stars I would as I know she is compassionate, kind, caring and it is apparent that she genuinely has a deep love and desire to find good homes for animals that are in need.

Unlike many rescues that are solely foster-based, PPR has a physical location. This is a huge advantage because you can actually visit, meet the dogs (and cats), and even use their play yard to see if you get along before committing to adoption. The facility is clean and the animals appear well-cared for. Every volunteer I met was friendly and helpful, without being pushy like I've encountered at some other shelters. I'm so grateful this rescue exists to help with the animal overpopulation problem. I highly encourage everyone to check them out (and other rescues/shelters in the area) and consider adoption first when searching for a new family member!
