First the bad: We sat down, ordered a couple of waters, sodas and wanted to look over the menu. We ended up ordering a side of boudin balls, fries and a crawfish pie for my gf and I. Her sister ordered a crawfish pie, fries and some tenders for the kids. No exaggeration...the food took 30-40min to come out and our server didn't come back to the table until our food did. When it finally came, we ordered a couple pounds of boiled crawfish because we didn't know when she would be back. While we waited, we dug into the boudin balls...disappointing...they looked burnt, were very bland and at $4.99 for only 3 of them, these are extremely over priced. I've been to far too many other places in TX and LA that serve double that for the same price. They also have american cheese in the middle, which is fine with me but if I didn't like dairy or was allergic, I'd like to know that beforehand. They should put that on the menu that they have cheese in them. The fries weren't seasoned even with salt so thank God they have their own seasoning on the table to doctor them up. We ordered 2 sides of what they call remoulade to dip the fries in but it's definitely not true remoulade and they should be embarrassed to call it that. Please guys, find a real recipe online to serve and not just ketchup with mayo and paprika. The crawfish pie was another let down. It was bland as well...no real flavor and it had LOTS and LOTS of bell peppers, which ended up being off-putting. We waited for the boiled crawfish another 15-20min, which is weird because food that is simple to make should not take this long to come out, especially fried food. Now the good: This place is known for their boiled crawfish and I will say it's wonderful! The potatoes and corn were really good too! The server finally started checking on us after the crawfish arrived and she was really sweet. We'll definitely be back for the boiled crawfish! read more

Check for there specials, all food is non seasoned. They do have a BYOB policy, bring your own booze. Beer and bottle. Most days 6/7 you can walk in and get a table. Just once had to wait about 10 minutes. read more

I've been coming to pook's since last year and really thought it was a hidden gem but lately when I've gone through drive thru paying $70 plus every time the crawfish would be COLD. Easy fix right!! They would act like they didn't know it was cold but instantly replace it so after 3 times of that I decided to start going in to place a to go order we last night was the last straw I ordered 5lbs of crawfish and the snow crab platter with corn potatoes and sausage now I come her at least 3 times a week but last night was the most disrespectful crap ever!!! The cashier told me the crawfish would be ready in 5 to 10 minutes when I received the crawfish is was cold like it no signs of being cook in the last 30 minutes cold and the crab legs were cold as well!!! The disrespect is the fact they made me wait to hand me cold food the they cold have handed me when I ordered... safe to say I will never spend my money there again and hopefully no one else experience this horrible service like I did read more

Had husband's birthday meal here yesterday. It's open air, byob, and pretty kid friendly. We had a large group with kids but our waitress was excellent. She didn't hover but was available whenever we needed something. Everyone in our party said the crawfish were great, not too spicy. Our kids ate plenty of them. I enjoyed a bowl of strimp etouffee, it was very tasty, not too salty and almost had a buttery taste. Pooks quickly became our new favorite spot for crawfish season. Overall and most importantly the crawfish here was tasty and spicy! The menu is limited just your basic crawfish shack. Nothing fancy. It's byob so come prepared with your own beer. We got seated quickly and courteously. The girls that work here are friendly. I wish I could say that made up for the food wait time. That would be my only complaint. And the restrooms need attention. Only one stall for ladies and men and not clean. Womens toilet did not work properly. Constantly a wait for the bathroom. We ordered 7lbs and boudain balls. The balls were excellent, deep fried with ranch. 3 for 5 bucks is steep but they sure were tasty. The mushrooms corn and potatoes with the craw is a must. I would eat here again. Loooovvvvveeee this place! I wish I would have known about it sooner. It's so convenient being a BYOB ice house because then I don't have to over-spend on drinks. I went on a warm sunny day and they had the garage doors rolled up and it was great, perfect breeze. The place gets really busy but you don't feel like you're sitting on top of people at tables nearby, you have plenty of space. I bought a pound of shrimp which came with corn on the cob and 2 red potatoes and it was the perfect portion size. Only negative- I didn't check the market price that they were selling shrimp for before hand..... They costed me $16.00 for the one pound. And I believe the crawfish were going for 5 pounds for 25$. This place is AMAZING!!!! Literally the best crawfish and goxins I have had in years! We had 5 lbs of crawfish 2 corn, 2 potato, and 2 orders of mushrooms. The mushrooms we spicy but so yummy!!! I love that it's BYOB, just wheel your cooler down sit down and pop open a cold one! The waitress was super sweet, they mostly look like young girls right out of high school. They were all very sweet. So you might be asking why only 4 stars? Weeellll I can't be the judge for other nights but the bathroom was not clean when we were there. The toilet was broken and you kinda had to mess with the handle to get it to flush. The cap to the back of the toilet was thrown on the floor and broken in the corner. And I saw many of the staff going in and out of the bathroom and nothing was done. We will be going back next week!!! read more

Heard all the rant & rave on this place, n my first time has been a BUST!!! 4PM WED-$30 check, $1-2 small potatoes, $1-2 small soggy, overly sugared corn, $1.50-3 inch of cut sausage(come on hot dogs are 5.5inchs)great flavor, mushrooms were great, CRAWFISH 75% pinky size, n shallow/deep water mix. Package for Togo was fantastic, still hot/warm 20 mins ltr. RIP tail from head, n 15% stays in head, I got a mouthful of warm tasteless saltwater, tail was flavorless salty n most had to be peeled from shell. 5 lb special? I see why, I threw it away after 1 lb n ate fish sandwich from whataburger. read more

These guys cook crawfish like my family in Louisiana. It really hits the spot. I hate when it is super crowded and you can't get a table though. By far the best bugs around. First few aren't very hot but keep eating they get better. We had 5 lbs a piece and could have eaten more but we ran out of beer....rookie mistake I guess. Honestly, the crawfish had no flavor - what happened to spicy crawfish? The potatoes and corn also had no spice. The mushrooms had a bit more but barely. I ordered two batches of crawfish yesterday - 4 pounds and 2 pounds. The first batch was cold. The second batch was luke-warm. Disappointing. However, I ordered a pound of the jumbo boiled crawfish and they were delicious. Not because they were spicy but because they were a high quality shrimp product. The best thing I ordered was the boudin ball appetizer. My only complaint is that it came out long after the crawfish. For $6.99/pound for less than 10 pounds, I won't make this place a habit. Checked out this place last night, had an okay experience and would go back if I wanted crawfish without having to drive very far. The good: There were plenty of people here, but there was not a problem finding a spot since there was plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The service was fantastic and the prices ($5.99/lb for crawfish) were reasonably priced, especially this early into crawfish season. I also enjoyed that it was BYOB. The not so good: the first round of crawfish we got were overcooked to the point that they were a bit mushy/falling apart. The second round we got were better than the first, but still slightly overcooked. Also, I wish there was the option of having spicy crawfish as these were a bit too plain for my personal taste. Overall this place isn't bad and I can see myself going back if I did not feel like driving a few hours to get to my favorite crawfish place, but it definitely is not the best crawfish I've had. read more

Tried Pook's off recommendation from friends. Had kids with us so couldn't take advantage of the BYOB, but will one day. Food came out pretty quick. Crawfish were juicy, decent size, but just a little too salty. I understand it's supposed to be seasoned, but my wife even made a comment about it, and she eats salt by itself (not kidding). I would pass on ordering the potatoes with it, they were small and not worth $.50 a piece. I would go back again, $5.99/lb is a good price and the overall spice was solid. read more
