Candy, the representative I worked with, communicated with me almost daily while we finalized the details of the project, which made the whole process much less stressful. The worst storm since 1996 and the guys at pool doctor came and shoveled and finally got rid of the snow. Looks like it never snowed in our development. So they did everything we needed of them. Snow plows bobcats and guys shoveling. Once you leave the development you realize dsny hasn't lived up to what they are suppose to do for our city. We can only blame the current administration for that! I'm hearing the price was somewhat expensive. read more

I'm extremely picky and usually go straight to the negative reviews. Most of the complaints I saw about Pool Doctor were from the busy season and not really about their inground work. On Staten Island, with the island overbuilt and on a hill, underground water is a real issue that has to be handled by the homeowner before a liner is installed, not after. I hired Pool Doctor off-season for a major inground project. Their plan was clear: remove the old liner, dig out the pool, add French drains, carefully open the concrete in a specific spot, go about 10 feet down to install a submersible sump pump, then restore the concrete and install a new liner. Six months later, the trench and sump system are working perfectly, and when a small adjustment was needed, they came back and fixed it at no charge. My only suggestion to Pool Doctor: skip the simple above-ground liner jobs and focus on inground pools, where their experience and professionalism really show. read more

We had a $4k new liner installed by Pool Doctor in Sept just prior to closing our pool. When we opened it this May, the water was almost all gone. Called for svc and was given the rudest most unprofessional response! "It's Groundwater " " fill the pool up n we can come take a look in a few weeks and discuss pricing....Way too busy right now " WTF... We spent $4k for a liner that was installed by them clearly with a Hole, which is how it lost the water over the winter, WARRANTY???? Doesn't cover groundwater which is what they said it is before even seeing it. This company scams their customers big time!! I know of 3 customers of PD that have had similar experiences... On May 23, 2023 I hired Paul Doctor to replace the liner in my pool beside the liner, he talked me into install wall foam he told me that it would prevent leaks, The pool was only used for three months Jun, July, and August on Sept 1 I closed the pool. The pool doctor installed an above ground pool for me and the installation went very well. After the installation we realized that if they added a few shutoff valves it would be much easier to operate. After calling them about it they immediately came and installed the shut offs. I always say the true mark of a business is what they do after they get paid if their is any required follow up and the pool doctor showed they are around to offer great service. You may be able to get a slightly cheaper installation from others but remember you get what you pay for and the pool doctor will be there to help you of there is a problem and we'll worth the price. read more

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL !!! I made an appointment with Pool Doctor one week in advance for Richie to come give me an estimate on a new in ground pool. They would not budge on appointment times, although I explained leaving work early to meet was very difficult. Once the appointment was made, I was given a two hour window for which I had to leave work early for. They called to CONFIRM the appointment to make sure I would be there. I waited TWO HOURS for Richie to show up to the appointment we had CONFIRMED however, he was a NO SHOW. I then called the office to see if he was on his way due to the appointment being previously confirmed and was told that unfortunately he was now unable to make the appointment as if my time was invaluable. As a business owner myself, I value the time of my costumers. Apparently, Pool Doctor is too overwhelmed to give consideration to their costumers. The entire backyard was designed and he sat down with me and showed me the 3d virtual tour of what my pool and yard would look like with a completion date . Well the date he said was beat out by 2 weeks so I was so so happy for that. His entire team of workers were amazing and trustworthy . Pool Doctor opened my pool in June. They said my filter, valves, pipe needed replacing. I paid cash for the job. The job was done in 2 days. 4 weeks later there is a major leak coming from the ground under the filter. The weekly maintainers came by and saw nothing. I fill the pool every day when I come home from work. NYC DEP has sent me an email regarding water usage (leak detection) for the period concerned. Mike was out on Saturday to look things over but he did not test the filter. Today I was told I would have to wait until Friday to begin repairs. I need help, can't keep filling pool (13x24) on daily basis. By the way, I am in Staten Island. Believe the owner is Richie. I have been using pool doctor for almost 10 years. The past 2 years they came, they opened my pool and left without testing any of the blowers or filters. This year when they came, as in the previous year, they didn't test anything, and it turns out the pool blowers were broken. The same men came a few weeks later to fix the issue they didn't troubleshoot the first time. They came, replaced the blowers and were ready to leave without testing it. I asked them, ' are you going to leave without even turning on the heater to test and make sure it works?' They replied dismissively ' Do it yourself, I don't have the time to wait.' At that point, my husband came outside and asked the worker again, 'you're going to leave without testing it -- I don't understand why every time you come, you have an attitude.' The worker then proceeded to take out his phone and start recording, leaving once again without fixing the pool. The idea of the customer coming first does not apply to these people or their employees. I recommend you all steer far and clear of these unprofessional people. read more

So I been using this company for about 2 years now an there really busy around April-July everyone wants their pool open which is a good thing for them but s bit of a wait for families I waited about 3 weeks for an appointment which was between 2-4 I left work early to come home by 2 an wait they didn't show up till 5:45 PM I called the office at 4pm an asked how much longer would they be since my schedule time extended till late, she left me on hold for about 15 min bc she couldn't get in contact with the drivers. In my head I'm saying who can't get in contact with there employees aren't you suppose to call an give a heads up that your running behind schedule? OK. So she gets back on the phone tells me she can't reach the driver she will call me back so it's already 5pm an she still didn't call me. By then I'm just over the whole office lady's bc they where all over the place yesterday I'm guessing bc it's peak season. Usually they are on time an on top of things, the guys are all great I wasn't even upset at them I was just happy hey showed up bc my boys kept bugging me an it takes about a week for the pool to clear up with all the dirt an chemicals. Nice workers they came with 3 men an ready to handle business, I have a above ground pool so there already familiar with my pool. Manuel & Rafael always does my services very very nice workers. Do not use this place. Yes the girls who answer the phones are friendly but the business runs horribly. When the owner came out to do the install estimate he stated they come out next day to give a lesson on how to use and maintain the pool. That didn't happen! I had the pool installed last week and called over and over to buy the 15 week plan for the summer. I keep being told I'll get a call back and that never happened either. Now my pool is leaking and made an appointment for this morning for repair telling them please come after 9 And was told no problem. No notes where made and they came at 8:40am ringing the bell when no one was home. They left after 3 min. I called the office ask for them to circle around and I'll be home in 5 min. The crew refused to come back and now I have wait until 4 pm when I have a puddle of water in my yard. I will bring my business elsewhere. read more

Last summer, my husband who normally does everything on his own decided to use a professional to install our pool liner. ( keep in mind he has done this 3 times with no problems) We ordered the liner and pool doctor was to install. Long story short, when the liner was done, there were creases all over and the liner was not centered. They told us to fill the pool and the creases should go away. They came back the next day and liner was still a mess. We had to drain the pool again and they tried to fix the liner. Once again we refilled the pool and nothing changed. My husband called the owner, Bob, who proceeded to blame the place where we bought the liner, then changed the story and said our pool was out of wack. He came took measurements and we never heard from him again. Disgraceful! Also his workers who installed it felt so bad they wanted to pay for the liner out of their own pockets! Still calling him and he's still not returning our phone calls. Worst customer service! We had another company come look at it and was told it was just put in incorrectly! Own it! Ok they did come do the install everything went in well. They left before the pool was a quarter full and returned to back fill the next day. Well, when they put the sod like chunks of grass up against the pool (on the pool wall and green side down!). Yes on the pool and upside down. But whatever they are not landscapers. I needed them to replace the liner cause I ripped it with the ladder. (Dope) they left me with a leaky return hose and then wanted to charge me to fix it! O and you should have seen the dirt on the skimmer gasket! I wondered why they used 2 bottles of silicone. I will never use them AGAIN! read more

In ground pool with a leak. Pool Dr(PD) opened the pool in April (floating liner), PD said liner had a huge hole on the bottom (I think I would have noticed it) and need a new liner. Filling the pool , but it would not fill past the light housing. PD recommend a diver leak expert to find the problem (just spent five grand, can't fill the liner and I have to hire a person to find the problem. Diver went in and epoxied the light bezel. I could now fill the pool. Asked PD for a quote on a Maintaince contact and was told "your pool has a leak, we don't do maintenance on pools with leaks. Not at all interested in what I thought of their service or if there was a problem was it a bad installation, or what they could do to help. In any event I noticed the filter I had was old and leaking. I asked for a quote on a new filter, agreed to their price and asked when it could be installed. I was told the installation would happen when they get to it. The arrogance of the PD was eating at me all night so the next morning I called them to cancel the filter. A few days later the manager called me to see what I thought of their service, and I told him. The true motive for his call was to try and get the filter sale back. If you decide to use the Pool Dr I wish you luck but beware. If things go good it's all good, if there is a problem they will not stand by their service read more

Wish i read these reviews before i used them. I just had to replace a 3 year old liner because of their cheap, crappy workmanship. I should have known when they left boot prints on the bottom of the pool. The pool people i called to come and look to see why my pool was rapidly losing water immediately said "oh, you used Pool Doctor". They are known in the pool industry to go the cheap way. Used this company to open my pool. I have an above ground pool with a deck alongside it. The cover wraps around the pool and goes between the pool and the deck. has a wire going through it. They DID NOT remove the wire and YANKED the cover off the pool SO AGGRESSIVELY they chipped pieces of our deck off & dislodged one of the planks off the track. When I wrote them an email they said it was TOO TIGHT around the pool and they didn't even try to take the wire before ripping it out. Also they used a WINTERIZER to shock the pool and left it on my deck after they left. I asked what chemicals they put in the pool and they said they shocked it but when I checked the chemicals later on they were all off balance!!! Had to adjust the pool myself. The filter had a cracked piece on the side of it. I have the same piece and told the guy to use it. HE CHARGED ME FOR A NEW PIECE saying that it wasn't the same size. I KNOW ITS THE RIGHT SIZE because we bought the extra part WITH the part that is on it together. After contacting this company about the damages, they wrote me a BS email saying it's our fault. The tarp was too tight & the WINTERIZER they never saw before when I SAW THEM put it in the pool. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL SCAM YOU AND DAMAGE YOUR PROPERTY!!!! read more
